This being my first surgical experience, I was quite nervous. At my initial consultation with Dr. Kirby he informed me that one of the teeth wouldn't need to be pulled at this time. This was a refreshing surprise for a dental practitioner to not push for as many procedures as possible. During this consultation, everything was explained and easy to understand. Dr. Kirby stayed to answer any questions I had and I didn't feel rushed at all. It was as if I was his only patient that day with the level of attention he and his assistant showed me during that consultation. Upon leaving the consultation, I felt more at ease about the procedure and felt confident that Dr. Kirby would take good care of me. On the day of my procedure, Dr. Kirby was running a bit behind schedule due to some additional work a previous patient was having performed. But, Dr. Kirby's assistant checked on me regularly and kept me informed the entire time. When Dr. Kirby arrived in my procedure room, he answered a couple more questions I had and then went to work. The procedure went perfectly and Dr. Kirby even spent some time in the recovery room with me to answer after-care questions and make sure I knew everything I needed to before heading home. In the months following my procedure, I ran into some issues with my insurance company. Dr. Kirby provided a letter for the insurance company on my behalf and ensured that the situation was completely resolved. The fact that his high-level of care and compassion extends beyond the surgical room shows he truly cares about his patients' whole experience. Dr. Kirby's ability to quickly put me at ease and the level of care and attention he provides is extraordinary. While nobody looks forward to dental surgery, if I ever find myself in need of it again, Dr. Kirby will always be my first choice.

I was taking them to a pediatric dentist in Kalamazoo who was going to send my grandson to the hospital for oral surgery which was going to cost almost $2000 out of pocket, but the kid's doctor recommended Dr. Rowland and I am so glad he did!!! Dr. Rowland's sign says, "caters to cowards" and it's absolutely true. While I don't fear the…read moredentist specifically, I have a very strong fear of needles, which makes simple dentistry like getting a filling a terrifying prospect for me. Dr. Rowland and his staff could not be more accommodating and kind to the fearful visitor like me. Rather than treat me like I had a problem--that all I had to do was "think differently" and I would suddenly be no longer afraid--they took care of me, offered me anything and everything I needed to make me comfortable (topical numbing to make sure I didn't feel the shot), and on top of it, they treated me with compassion. I can still remember the first time I was there for a filling, and Dr. Rowland sat there and spoke to me while squeezing my shoulder comfortingly as the numbing set in, helping me get my mind off what was about to happen. Now, while I still can't say I look forward to dental work, at least I don't dread it. Incidentally, I also appreciate how well the staff knows their patients--Dr. Rowland always asks after my family and remembers conversations from previous visits. I feel very welcome there and would recommend him to anyone!
