Popped in for a round while I was in town recently. The directions from UDisc spit me out at…read moreSpinners parking lot which sits steps away from the disc golf course. As not to get towed in the parking lot, I moved to street parking on the other side. Use your UDisc app whenever you can to follow the course. Especially if you're new to the layout. Luckily I met a couple guys that let me join so I could follow the layout easily. I picked up with them at hole 7, playing to 18 and back around to 6. Layout is somewhere pretty easy to follow. Nothing too difficult other than ensuring you don't end up in a few of the water hazards around. I lost (2) discs and watched at least 6 others lose theirs too. I do like the option to throw to the short distance or long distance baskets. The tee boxes do need some work here and there. I do appreciate they show where the locations of the baskets are and their distance. Had a great round, minus the two lost discs to the water monsters. Would throw here again!

It is fun watching people play disc golf at Vista Del Camino. It is a scenic 18 disc course…read moresurrounded by walkways, mature trees, a few picnic tables and housing. The Paseo Vista disc golf in Chandler, (McQueen and Ocotillo Rds) offers more space at each hole and at various elevations but is not as picturestic as Vista. The creek that runs through the center of Vista is pleasing to see and can be a fun challenge for players. Pedestrians, cyclists and runners are also player obstacles! Enjoy!

It also boasts a fountain in the middle of the lake that shoots over 300 feet into the air and hosts the pro disc golf tour. The course is free to play and is challenging for every level of player. Besides the water hazard of the lake and the well placed trees. The golf disc chains are located near residential housing, street car traffic and other park goers besides yourself (people walking their dogs, joggers, bicyclists). So you need to be careful on some disc throws not to hurt anything or anybody. Definitely know your game especially your limitations. Being a beginner in the sport. I found the course to be very fun. The large park is very beautiful and well maintained. One of the nicest parks I have ever been to. The locals are very friendly. We had a few people watch my friends and I play with some amusement and weren't afraid to say "hi". Definitely didn't run into any haters of disc golf. To sum it up. I spent New Year's Day morning trying out this course on my way through Phoenix. It's an 18 or 27…read morebasket course, depending on how eager you are to trudge through dust and gravel. We had a hard time finding the practice basket but it's directly to the right of the first tee pad (behind the playground/picnic area if you're looking from the parking lot). The course itself was set with the best of intentions, using the hill to challenge us in throwing upwards/downwards and maintenance buildings as obstacles. The desert shrubbery, while not too much trouble to throw over or around, was similar across the entire course. It didn't make for a super exciting round until we hiked halfway up the hill around basket 10. When I was there, every single basket was set out, some with cones/flags for visibility and others just camouflaged into the landscape. It made figuring out the course a little difficult and we ended up playing into other people's baskets on accident not realizing we were aiming for the wrong ones. While the pads and baskets are well maintained, the map at the park is a little worse for wear and difficult to follow. The tee pads each have their own maps too, pointing to the next basket which was helpful. Lots of walkers and dogs going through the course, but just keep yelling fore and have a little patience! I liked the big field to practice throwing distance drivers without losing them on the course. I didn't like the amount of trash and cans/bottles littered around the course. But we encountered friendly folks and clean bathrooms, and it's a perfectly average course in the area.

This is a disc golf course for Marbella residents only as stated by multiple signs. There are a total of 6-9? Baskets. We looked everywhere and could not find a Tee box or any markers, however the baskets were numbered. There is NO parking lot and we had to park in a neighborhood. We didn't play all baskets, since the sun went down. Special note many baskets are near a sewer drain so trying to avoid those became a challenge since we went after a rain and it was very muddy/ yucky.

Look for the sign that says "Santa Cruz River Park" on the right. You will also see a Disc Golf Course sign above it. I'm surprised that this disc golf course was not listed in Yelp when the Marana course is. Can't believe that I added it to Yelp and that I'm the first to check in and review. Are there really no disc golfin' Yelpers out there? This review is for those who have never disc golfed before as any one who is a disc golfer already knows about this course and the descriptions of the course can be found on the PDGA (yes, disc golf is a professional sport) or the Disc Golf Course Review (dgcoursereview.com) websites. If you are new to the sport, then I recommend that you do an internet search on "disc golf" and you will find many "how to's" and the rules and online stores. There are many, many tutorials on YouTube. Bottom line: disc golf is fun, cheap (waaaaay cheaper than round-ball golf), takes a lot less time to play, no club house membership fees, no tee times, and is a very forgiving sport in that anyone of any skill level can play, have fun, and is totally accepted on the course and even encouraged. Try it! It is free! And equipment costs are very low. ($45 can get you a driver, mid-range, and a putter.) Great to play in groups. This is an excellent course for beginners and can give advanced players a good enough challenge as there are A & B tee boxes (different distances/challenges). (Good for rollers, too!) The A boxes are all concrete, but only one or two B tee boxes are concrete. There are now nice signs at each tee-off showing the possible basket placements. (Occasionally, they change the location of the basket to make things fun.) This course is an 18 basket course, all dirt, no grass. No real water hazards unless you really throw hard and far and slice it hard into the Santa Cruz wash when playing baskets 5 through 9. And even then, there's no water. Trees are hazards, but none are really too high that you will lose a disc and only very, very occasionally will one get stuck. No snakes, only lizards and gophers. Watch your step--don't twist your ankle stepping into a hole! Layout is not bad. Flight paths can be a little problematic and cross traffic on the south side with baskets #12, #18, #14 & #15. Basket #18 ends close to #1 and the parking lot, so it is circular. There are two putting warm up baskets areas. There are three pavilion picnic shelters. Only a port-a-potty for restroom at the parking lot and by basket #5. Very decent water fountain. Bottom line: easiest course to get to in Tucson and a moderate course, not a long one with elevations like Marana. Excellent place to first try this fun sport.
