Complete Sham After…read morereceiving a Swing Evaluation for my Birthday I finally got some free time so I called to schedule it. The guy on the phone (Kyle Newell, Owner, Golftec Louisville) stopped me and asked if I was going to commit to come in every week to "train"... I said I didn't know yet, but my schedule wouldn't allow me the time to come in EVERY week and that the little time that I get, I try to spend on the course actually playing golf... he subsequently said that he "questioned my commitment" to my golf game and that a swing evaluation would just be a waste of time... And of course this is said after it's too late for a refund, which explains his attitude. Furthermore, despite what their website says, this "professional" shop doesn't offer Titleist clubs... or Players Irons, for that matter, only Game Improvement Irons.... Which makes it pretty ironic that they would have the nerve to question anyone's commitment... but I guess if you look at how much they charge to "train" it makes sense that they would try to manipulate/pressure you into more...especially if they already have your money.

I'm still going through a swing deconstruction phase on the way to rebuilding (I've only taken about five lessons of a 40-lesson package), so it's too soon to know what results I'll ultimately see, but I'm pretty sold on the method of instruction here, which relies heavily on video and technology and emphasizes a holistic approach to development rather than relying on spot fixes. Also, the guys who operate the franchise are very friendly and professional, and accordingly I've enjoyed my lesson and practice time at their facilty. Chances are they're going to have what you're looking for, and more than likely in stock. There are other outdoor lifestyle chains out there, but none that measure up to the outdoor/wilderness environment that Cabela's has. From its rustic, natural(ish) décor to the outdoor displays to wildlife exhibits, you really do get that "I feel like I'm out in the woods" vibe. While I've always been a fan of Cabela's, this summer we found that they carry my absolute favorite line of bird seed. I'm a birder and feed 6 to 8 different types of feed in my back year nearly year round, and the fact that they have my favorite brand (Harvest brand bird feeds), but A) in multiple varieties and 2) IN STOCK immediately made this my go-to place when I need bird seed. We used to have to visit 3 or more retail outlets to find what I needed, but not any more. The staff has been mostly cool when we've visited. One time we had a cashier named John (as I recall) who didn't care that we were there or not...we were obviously interrupting whatever he was doing on his phone. Everyone else we've encountered has been awesome.

Overall this course was a disappointment. It was in various levels of maintenance as you can see…read morefrom the photos. Some dead greens that had been painted to look like they survived the heat (paint is cheaper than water I guess), multiple fairways that were burnt out and totally dead in large spots. it almost seemed like they were watering/maintaining the most trafficked areas only. It wasn't all bad though. there were a few greens in really good shape. The tee boxes weren't in pristine shape but most of the time there was at least some grass so you weren't standing on dirt. But my biggest complaint is how closely they stacked the tee times. We had a time for 10:15, we teed off at probably 10:20 because the group ahead of us (10:07) had to wait on the group ahead of them (10:00) which left the group behind us (10:22) waiting and the group behind them (10:30, you get the point) waiting as well. They could add an extra 4-5 minutes between times and charge $50 instead of $44 on the weekend, and they'd make about the same amount. I think on a weekday round in April this course would get a 3.5 or 4 from me. If we weren't waiting on every tee box and shot because the group ahead of us had to wait, and the grass wasn't so burnt from being dehydrated all summer, I'm sure it would be a nice course. The layout is a little funky in spots and could probably use a few minor tweaks but really my biggest complaint was the 4h 50m round. Fix that tee time spacing on the weekends and I would probably go back. But unless I'm the first one out at 7am I think I would rather find somewhere else.

There were balls & different types of tees and 2 different golf bags label men's and women's at your leisure. We only planned on playing for 30 mins but ordered a cocktail & some bits and it turned into a hour. We did a fun kids game that was like the range. We ordered the sliders & chips & guacamole. The sliders wet cooked to perfection & came with fries that were delicious & the chips to guacamole ratio was great. Our cocktails were delicious and we just had a blast: the restroom was so clean and stocked with items that may be needed in a pinch. Great Time & everything was reasonably priced.

It was a great balance technical perfecting as well as developing a comfortable swing that wouldn't leave me sore or damaged permanently later. Beginner level class was the best place to start for me, and seeing that I was a beginner, I didn't have a racquette. No problem! For $20 I "tried" one for the duration of the class and was allowed to keep it for some extra time since no one was waiting to try it. Really nice considering I wanted to use something appropriate but needed to save the cash for later to see if I would end up being any good- well godo enough to keep playing.
