Despite arriving before our scheduled time, the cashier took roughly 10 minutes to process our payment, taking her sweet time, and then another couple minutes to get our clubs and everything into the cart. By the time we actually reached the tee, we were late -- largely because of the course's own slow check-in process. The starter then told us we had to skip the first hole because the couple we were paired with was finishing up. We politely asked if we could simply play the first hole, and instead of trying to understand the situation, the starter gave us an attitude and a lecture about how strict they are about arriving on time. Apparently that rule only applies to customers and not to the staff taking 15+ minutes to get us checked in and into a cart. The whole operation feels like it's being run by incompetent people who are completely disconnected from their customers. What made it even more ridiculous was that the couple we were paired with had their BABY with them in a stroller on a links-style course. They were genuinely nice people, so this isn't directed at them, but it's hard to understand how the course can accommodate that while refusing to show any understanding toward customers who were delayed by traffic and then further delayed by the course itself. This is a 9-hole course that costs around $45 with a cart, and there were open tee times even on a weekend. On top of that, while we were playing, there was nobody on the hole behind us or even two holes behind us. So clearly there was room on the course and no legitimate reason why we couldn't have played the first hole. For $45 for nine holes, I expect at least basic customer service and common sense. Instead, we got an unnecessarily hostile experience over a situation that the course itself contributed to. Absolutely would not recommend. Would give a 0/5 if I could... The course itself was alright, modern golf carts were cool but the starter absolutely ruined our round and left a bad taste in our mouth for the whole round.

My son is also learning to play, and the bays are roomy and private enough that two of us can share a bucket and bay to help each other and keep it social. It's a fairly no frills kind of place. Given the prices for entertainment these days, the prices for practice balls seems pretty reasonable. It would be nice if they had more variety of tee heights (or adjustable tees) to use on the mats.

We returned to the pro shop where we were met with a rude employee who refused to be understanding to the situation that we only played one hole and refused to give us a rain check or a voucher. I will never return to this place and I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never come.

WCC is an excellent 9-hole course. It is NOT an 18-hole championship course, but IT IS one of the most impeccable 9-hole courses in MA. One typically plays whites out, blues in for a total yardage of about 6200. The blues are only about 200 yards longer, but the tee box placement makes it a much tougher 9. The greens run hot when they are in full swing, think 7/8 on the stimpmeter. The fairways are gorgeous, but the fringe and green rough is sometimes imperfect. For a public course, this is top notch. It gets a lot of play. The greens make this course challenging. If you are on, you can go low easily. If you are having one of those days, prepare to be eaten alive. The course has a very reachable par 4 (in 1, hole 2) and a reachable par 5 (in 2, hole 1). The third hole is a sloping and narrowing par 5 with the toughest green on the course. You MUST be below the hole. This course will force you to hit every club in your bag at least once, you will find yourself with uneven lies, and often questioning how you could three-putt from 15 feet. Worth every penny of the $22 for 9, or $32 for 18.

They had carts, and hills, and traps you could work from, and putting greens. They also had this wonderful driving range, grass or turf, that had pins out yonder, so you could actually shoot for goal. Made the experience very good and rewarding. Nice shop, and while I wanted a set of Ben Hogan irons, I settled on a set of Toski irons... they were fitted, and that process too about two hours. Mike (at Framingham MA store) showed expertise, persistance and patience in fitting me for new…read moreirons and wedges. My session went a bit longer than the allotted hour, as Mike tried multiple alternative combinations of shafts and heads to hone in on the best set for my particular situation - even when he had already engineered a good result. We examined both distance, height of shot and dispersion on less than ideal swings. Fitting off a mat into a simulator is always a challenge and never really accurate in measuring real distance, so we added sample hits with my current clubs to at least show a comparison of results. I felt comfortable enough with the results to purchase the clubs. And Mike also reassured me that PXG would follow through with adjustments and tweaks if the performance suggested a need. Have not received the irons and wedges yet - will update when I have received them and played a few rounds.

I only recently really got into golf and my wife wanted to try out PXG clubs, so we booked a "swing session." My parents have always been Callaway/TaylorMade golfers, so I was a bit skeptical about this brand I have never heard of before. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted and made feel very welcome. They checked in with us while we waited (we got there a bit earlier than scheduled time) multiple times and answered any questions we had. My wife worked with Brendan, but I was put with Brian. Let me say that during the swing session, I was more satisfied with how Brian was as a fitter than how PXG clubs felt. Granted, I am rather new, so I have not swung many clubs, but PXG clubs themselves felt better than my almost 10 yr old hand me down TaylorMade RSi2s, but Brian's insights into club fitting and how to improve my swing left me feeling amazed. And there was zero pressure at all for us to purchase. So both my wife and I booked a full fitting session, with our respective fitters. And when we returned for my full bag fitting session, there was nothing that changed and that is to say it was absolutely phenomenal. Brian dialed in to what configuration would be best for me, even with my inconsistent and novice skill. And again, there was zero pressure to purchase. And he stayed quite late (I didn't know time could fly by so fast), way past the initial scheduled time to help me figure out what would work for me. did end up purchasing iron set and some woods/hybrids, and I am ecstatic to try them out. Being completely honest, as I mentioned before, I didn't feel (probably because I am not at a skill level where I am consistent enough to notice it quite yet) a HUGE difference in the PXG clubs vs the ones I was using. That is not to say that I felt zero difference. But what helped me make the decision to purchase is that Brian showed immense experience and confidence in fitting, and in turn, made me confident that knowing my skills, he has fitted me with clubs that would work for me and with me for some time while I improve my game.

Knowing it was designed by Donald Ross makes the layout even more impressive, especially considering how compact and walkable it is. The course is always in pretty good shape for a city muni, and the setting around the reservoir adds a nice peaceful vibe. You can easily get in 9 holes after work or on a summer morning and feel like you got your golf fix without committing to a full day. That said--be ready for a wait if you go on the weekend. It's a popular spot, and pace of play can slow down during peak hours. Booking ahead is a must. Overall, a fun and challenging course with some real architectural pedigree. We had a tee time at 8pm, it was packed. After dropping off our clubs and bellying up to the bar, our group picked up a round while we waited on an opening. Every other group did too, and they quickly ran out of space. Once we got going in our stall, we played a round at pebble beach, they have many courses to choose from. The simulator is ok. We definitely had to over club in the fairway and putting was super fast with just a tap. But you figure it out on the first hole and it's smooth sailing from there. If you want more beverages or help, go back to the bar. For a pair, we got through 9 holes in an hour. A couple rounds of beers and two players after 5pm Monday-Thursday was right at $100 with tip. It appears there is different pricing at other times they are open.
