This place is $40/person for AYCE. I've learned that hot pot is actually cheaper to eat in a restaurant than to buy ingredients in HMart or Lotte. It's certainly true for Gom Shabu Shabu. When they say AYCE, they really keep the ingredients flowing. The vegetables are fresh. And I find the meat to be better quality than the Shabu Shabu meat you can buy in the supermarkets. Haven't been here in years and this place still delivers a quality shabu hot pot experience. They still have their all you can eat menu and I highly recommend this one. The preset hot pot experience is also worth it too. Options still include nicely thin cut meats such as angus beef, brisket, pork, chicken, lamb, and premium beef with my favorite being the brisket, a variety of noodles, and an assortment of vegetables, roots, and seafood that I love in hot pot. I don't think they have changed the recipe for their fixes broth. And as always, once all the food is cooked, that broth just becomes more flavorful. Also, there are different spice level sauces to dip your food in for extra flavor. Service is still attentive and delivering. I can tell the hot pot stations are aging. Good spot and would come back here if I'm in the area craving hotpot, but I wouldn't go out of the way for this. Broth was fine, but didn't stand out. They have the staple ingredients which is perfect to satisfy a hotpot craving, but there isn't a lot of ingredient options compared to other hotpot spots in the DMV area. So if you want something in particular, make sure to check if they serve it first. Price is comparable, standard to the area. Couple of things that was really nice about this spot is that when you order meat, they give you a decent amount to start already. Some hotpot spots give you so little each round and then randomly give you a lot when you only want a little lol. They also have sauce options that they'll make for you. Which I think is great for folks who don't know what sauce to make or don't enjoy making their own sauce. It's in a shopping center, so plenty of parking and service was good. It's a big space inside as well so if you have a big group, they can probably accommodate. It is an all you can eat shabu shabu or hot pot. You get a paper and a pencil to mark the meats, veggies, other misc that you want to put in your hot pot. I thought the service here was prompt and they give you a large portion every time you place an order. I like how they have the call buttons to let wait staff know you need something. The sauce bar was clean but had some missing trays. I told the staff there and they refilled the trays. In terms of cleanliness, I think it could be better. Great place to eat like no tomorrow with friends/family. Keep the temperature setting in mind as the pot can overflow if you boil it too much. Currently it's $35 for all you can eat. While this isn't a bad AYCE price, I'd expect to have more options for the dishes. The pickings are on the slimmer side compared to other AYCE hot pot/shabu shabu but enough to still leave you full and satisfied. One thing I haven't seen at other places is the option to order a house sauce. I personally loved the Less Spicy one but the Non-Spicy and Spicy we're also good. I did not like the Medium Spicy and didn't try the Very Spicy. I like how the side dishes come out in small servings so you can figure out what you like. Stopped here for our Wednesday night meal after setup. For those of you who are fans of my Yelp - usually setup day at conventions are Thursday. So we were a day early. This is Vog's favorite hot pot place, and I had been here several years ago with our buds. On that trip I was a little in over my head and didn't know really how to negotiate it all and just threw in the towel - but this time I decided to lock in. For first-timers this is an AYCE where you pick meats and vegetables and they bring them to you raw and you cook them in your pot making different foods. You are able to pick the spice level of the sauce they bring you or you can go to the sauce bar and make your own. We had several items - lamb, brisket, beef, corn, zucchini, carrots, lettuce wraps, ramen, rice, etc. we made lettuce wraps with the meats and sauce, ramen dishes with the noodles- and the rice they bring out is already cooked. I almost forgot - you can also order dumplings as part of the AYCE and drop them in your hot pot to cook them - as they come precooked but flash frozen. This trip was way better - they handled us way better, Vog was in his element holding court and making sure we all were dialed in and kept it going to insure a good meal. Overall I really liked this place - and just as a recommendation - when you're cooking - keep your pot at 1000 - when waiting for refills drop it to 500. Good meal - would come back. read more

We chose tonkatsu and this slightly purple colored clumpy looking bowl of mystery came out. The taste was very artificial and not pleasant. The meat and vegetable quality is decent, better than a couple of the other local spots. Options are limited however, especially at $35 a person. Service is also good though the staff is not proactive with new menus, you have to ask. The broth is important for hot pot though, and this would not be a choice based on that. read more

Everyone gets their own individual pot, you control the temperature, you can put whatever for your sauce, and you choose all the meats, veggies, and items to put in your pot! We were craving hot pot for dinner and quickly realized that there weren't too many options in the area until we came across this gem. I've had hot pot at a few spots throughout NOVA including hot spot, oh my, honey pig, urban hot pot and California Shabu and I think this is right there with them and may even have them beat. First when you walk in, the restaurant is super clean and the staff is very friendly. That makes the experience so much better. This place didn't have as much of a variety when it came to broth options but then again sometimes simple is better because how often do you do with a more "exotic flavor" when the house broth, spicy, or Tom yum are on the menu. The variety of meat and veggies always makes or breaks it for me. This place offers thinly sliced brisket, ribeye, pork belly, and all the seafood you need. They also offer chicken but who eats chicken at an AYCE place. The veggies are very delicious and crisp and are just as much of the star as the meats. You should definitely get the watercress, enoki mushroom, king mushroom, taro, and corn. They even offer seasonal veggies like pumpkin. Finally you cannot forget about the sauce bar. More and more places are offering a recommended sauce combination for those who cannot decide on flavors but you can always make your own (which is what I recommend because you get to pick the perfect balance for your palette). Came in for dinner after shopping at Hmart, we were really spread out until people started coming in. Luckily we were done by the time the other family sat next to our table. I guess it's a risk when we eat out but there were other section of the place where they could have sat that family. That was kind of annoying. Because of covid, the sauce bar is closed, they bring you your sauce, the down fall of it is u can't spicy it up the way you want it. A simple and quick spot my husband and I like to go if we are craving Hot Pot. The menu is basic and has your typical veggies, carbs, meats and miscellaneous items. Nothing strikes me as unique or different in comparison to other places. I enjoy the broth and the different sauces they have to to complement your spice pallet. It's nice that you can create your own at the sauce station they have in the middle/back of the room. Surprisingly, this place hasn't been crazy busy every time we went, whether it is the weekend or during the week. It's possible that the time you go matters. We usually go around lunch between 12-3, and it's not busy. There are many many open tables. Price-wise... it's the usual. Not dirt cheap nor overly expensive. And their customer service is about average. So if you want something quick and easy, check this place out. However there are other Hot Pot places I could probably recommend. read more

Pros: - spacious seating - individual pots - decent sauce bar - good quality beef for AYCE - decent price for AYCE (23.99 i think) - fast service Cons: - only 1 type of broth, which didn't taste like anything imo so I dumped all of my sauce into it - pretty weak selection of non meat items - the spoons smelled like bleach - not a fan of the filling out a paper method of ordering the items (I prefer buffet style or conveyer belt where we actually grab our own food) - server forgot to bring out some of the items we ordered I felt like the pros and cons weighed each other out, which is why I ended up giving it a 3 stars. AYCE EAT-ERTAINMENT! What's more fun than eating? Interactive eating. I've only been here twice but found the food and service to both be good. During peak hours, you might have to flag down a server, but that's what the "call button" is for. This is one of those places people describe as, "everyone has their own way of eating." There really is no wrong way. If you struggle with chopsticks, grab a scooper or mini tongs by the sauce area. Some people plunge everything into their boiling pot at once and slowly eat, while others do a little at a time. You can make your own sauce/ try the viral tiktok recipe, but their house made sauces are good. I prefer their sauce (mostly because I made the tiktok version incorrectly and it turned out to be cilantro salad oops). Their house sauce comes with varying heat levels (1-5) and for someone who can't handle anything spicy, level 4 isn't spicy. It was almost $40 per person (including 20% tip), which is pretty steep ($30.99 before tax/tip per AYCE person), but I will be back! read more

Finally with the kids going to Fright Night nearby we have our chance. Prices seem to have gone up to $28 for AYCE but we had a light lunch so time to chow down! Ordering is easy enough with a ticket listing all items - select your broth base, proteins, veggies, seafood, dumplings, fish balls, and noodles. Everything is super fresh and top notch...the ribeye and angus beef are of good quality. The seafood is on the smaller side so you may need to order more. They give you a choice of spicyness on the dipping sauce and best of all the waitress does a great job of mixing the various dip ingredients...very pleased with their concoction. Must say Gom Shabu Shabu is one of the better hot pot/shabu shabu joints in the area and we've been to Hot Spot, California Shabu, kPot and others. Gom is Korean-styled hot pot so it makes sense why it's different from some of the other popular places around the DMV. If you've been to a hot pot place before, Gom is fairly similar in how you pick what you want to order on a sheet of paper and they have a sauce bar. Worth it? Yes Repeat? Always for Hot Pot cravings I've probably come here too many times to count. It's a Korean style Hot Pot and a solid choice as making homemade hot pot just isn't worth the cost. Come here, eat until your pant buttons pop and don't forget to make the end meal "porridge" Ask for the egg, rice and sesame oil. You simmer down the broth or take out most of the liquid. Once you do that, add in the rice, egg on low heat and keep stirring. Add in some of the leftover greens and you got yourself a nice porridge to end the night ! read more
