The phó is phenomenal here. My wife gets the vegetarian, and I got the chicken. Both are perfectly flavored as you would get it in Vietnam. Note that some restaurants in the area put in tons of msg/salt, and this restaurant does not do that. Also, I have had the Vietnamese iced coffee here, and is is also spot on... with the hints of chocolate from the robusto coffee you would expect. I highly recommend. And, adding in deets from my wife, the Chay (veggie) version she feels is the best in the DMV area. The number 2 would be Pho 75 Rockville MD and then Mi La Cay in Wheaton MD. So they clearly recommend this for veggie soup as well. This time we are also trying the garden/summer rolls. They are also quite good. Up there with the best... but I can't pick one as better than another between Mi La Cay or Pho 85. So if you want the real deal, come here. read more

The pho is good, however very expensive. The soup had a nice rich flavour that wasn't too light and wasn't too "dirty". Compared to recent phos I've had at nearby Vietnamese restaurants like Pho Duong (Fairfax, Centerville) and Pho Hai Duong (Vienna), this soup was superior. However, there was way more soup than noodles so by the end of my bowl I still had half the soup and ran out of noodles and meat. For nearly $20 a bowl of pho, I am disappointed to be leaving hungry. For the lack of noodles & meat to soup ratio, and the high price ($40+ for two people for just pho???) I had to deduct two stars. The quality of meat and noodles were average and not nearly enough in quality or quantity to justify the price. Pho and bahn mis are street food and the Northern Virginia prices + shrinkflation are really getting out of hand. I was really rooting for this tasty pho place in my neighbourhood, but would rather drive the extra 20 minutes to Falls Church for better quality and value pho. read more

Placed an online order (2x Banh Mi) for pick up. While driving over, I called to confirm everything was in order, as well as pick up time. Upon arrival, parking was a breeze. I was greeted with friendly service and received my order. Both sandwiches were well-made, with a good balance of texture and flavors. The pickled vegetables + herbs were on the side, which prevented them from getting soggy, and also allowed to add as little or as much as needed. We saw this Pho restaurant in a small strip mall in Oakton. Decided to try it since it got at least a 4.0 on Yelp. We came early on a Sunday morning. There was plenty of wide open space in the dining area with 2 tvs. One playing scenery of Vietnamese landscape, other was of Vietnamese food (cooking/travel). The music was very soothing, made me sleepy. Whenever we go to a Pho restaurant, we always try the fresh summer roll, the Pho and this time Banh Mi. We got the fresh roll with Pho sides within 2 minutes of ordering. Another 2 mins, the Banh Mi comes out and then 2 mins later, the Pho. The timing was odd for me as usually we finish each course, the next course comes out. It's a preference for me to always get the optimal freshness and temperature for the food. Oh well. The summer rolls were good but my son mentioned not as flavorful as other places. The fish sauce wasn't as good either. 6/10 The Banh Mi was good as the bread was crust on the outside and soft inside. There was only one thin layer of grilled pork. It was tasty but there was no pate. It was Americanized by using mayo. And there was pickled veggies but a sparse amount and did not include jalapenos. Had to use the ones which came with the Pho. For $10, needed more meat and filling. 5/10 The shining star was the Pho. The broth was excellent. Deep and flavorful. My son mentioned the noodles were inconsistent. Some were overcooked, some were undercooked. I didn't experience that though. The meat flavor wasn't the best but there were large chunks of tendon which I appreciated. Broth was def a 10 but other stuff was 7 or a 6/10. Overall 7.5/10 This place is good but not great. More expensive by $2-3 per dish and quality was good but not great. Overall? 6/10. I would come back but my son most likely won't. read more

I wanted to try a new pho place and noticed this one nearby. Glad I did because there are many options for pho around here and this one is a good place to eat pho. I liked that the soup was clean tasting and flavorful. Not too rich in opinion. The noodles are standard. I think the potion sizes are a bit small for the price and I felt like I could eat more. Overall, it was good pho and I enjoyed it. Interior is nice and clean, service was a bit slow compared to most places. There was only one worker. read more

Love the transformation from a bagel shop - clean, light, modern & welcoming space! Carried out Pho Ga (chicken) and Banh Xeo (crepe). Banh Xeo was wonderfully crispy, so much greens for wrapping - love my veggies! Sadly the pho was meh - watery, even the color was too light (being Viet, fish sauce to the rescue), though the amt of meat & noodle was generous. Service is impeccable. Ambience is very quiet background music. They have a child size pho good for adults too so you have room for a delicious appetizer and dessert. Was in the area and stopped by-1st time. Good menu with flexibility to change out a sauce on one dish as a request. Very good banh mi sandwiches and spring rolls were awesome (that's where I switched the sauce to peanut sauce). Also ordered beef dish that was tasty also. Very clean and restrooms also very clean. Pho was just OK. Little oily but the main is issue was noodles were too soft on arrival. I got Bun Bo Hue too and it was ok. Not bad, not great. I wouldn't get it again. The spring roll chicken was EXCELLENT. Made with rice paper as the wrapper which I think is key. I will go back but not for pho. I want to try the Bun and Rice dishes. The other issue was that it was slow service and slow cooking of food. I don't think they're staffed well. One waitress for a Saturday lunch and one food runner/busser in the front. I don't think they had more than two in the kitchen cooking too. Our entrees came out over 20-25 minutes from when we ordered. read more

Just tried this place out. We are local to Oakton and have been really excited about a new pho place here. I really wanted to like it, but the flavor depth just wasn't there at all, the broth was bland. The meat (chin) was good, decent spring rolls. The pho tasted like it didn't have ton of MSG like other places. Because of this, some may feel like the broth isn't hearty, but it's definitely good. We ordered the spring rolls and summer rolls and they were good too. We ordered couple of rice dishes and pho. Rice dishes were really good. Living in Oakton for quite some time I was excited to see a Pho restaurant open around the corner. The restaurant is impeccable and the staff are warm/ extremely welcoming. My family and I have been to Pho 85 a couple of times and really enjoyed the non-soup dishes. The egg rolls and Banh Xeo are super crispy and packed full of flavor. They are paired well with the salad and pickled vegetables. The spring rolls were light and fresh. The grilled chicken and rice dish was delicious. The meat was moist and well marinated. Our server was attentive, sweet, and fun to chat with. The restaurant is clean and pretty open or spacious. My only complaint was that parking can be a little difficult to find depending on when you go. read more

I've been eating pho for 20 years and really want to rave about having a new Vietnamese place in my Oakton neighborhood. Not there yet! The crispy chicken spring rolls were larger and meatier than others I've had--they were quite good! The eye round beef pho was flavorless. I actually prefer a lighter brighter broth over the heavier murky broth--this broth was, sadly, tasteless. Half the joy of eating pho is breathing in the aromatic steam of the broth and taking a taste sip before adding your herbs and condiments. Noodles were just okay.
