DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH GOMEZ IRON WORKS. Owner Al is friendly, but incompetent. Had iron bars installed at our business. Had to wait over 5 weeks for what was ultimately VERY SLOPPY work! They damaged/broke my windows and scratched up my paint. After paying my bill in full, l kept getting statements for non payment for the next 3 months saying that I still owed money! This still happened after I informed Al. WTF? DO NOT PATRONIZE. read more

Gomez installed a lock and performed some repairs to a gate at our home and ultimately I would strongly advise against using them for any work. The estimator came out multiple times to discuss what work needed to be done, but when the time came to begin the work there were multiple discrepancies between what was discussed and the work performed. Security mesh was bolted on (poorly) when it was supposed to be welded. Strike plate for the lock was not installed, paint was sloppy, metal fabrication was uneven. I had pointed out a crack in concrete that I expected would be patched but later was told that Gomez "does not do concrete work". I should have insisted that items were in writing to avoid confusion, but I never expected there to be this much of a disconnect. The icing on the cake was when Arturo came out to review the work and discuss our complaints he made it seem like the work was acceptable when it clearly was not. Ok, now for the good news -- ultimately Gomez's team came out and re-did most of the work and addressed our complaints. I wouldn't call the finished product perfect, but it is certainly good enough at this point. So credit to their team for making it right. What I expected to be a fairly simple project turned into a frustrating seven month process. read more

Ok so normally I'd just keep scrolling since obviously other people had good experiences - but our experience with Gomez was hideous. Truly still feel like we got robbed. Gate is shitty, poorly constructed, different colors, pieces don't fit correctly, looks like garbage. Paid over 4K. Tried several times to get them to repair/fix/replace and each time it was just disappointing, half assed bullshit. Really good work! We wanted to add a couple of stair railings to our 1920's house and make sure they fit its style. The Gomez team was very careful to do that - took pictures of our railings, even traced their shapes onto paper. Came back a few weeks later with pieces that fit perfectly and look like they've always been there. Al was a pleasure to work with, as were the installers. read more

We wanted to have railings installed on either side of our front steps. After contacting a few different companies, we selected Gomez Iron Works, and we're glad we did. The owner, Al Gomez, came out in person (some other companies prefer to do it online) to assess the job. Al looked at our project gave me a quote, and on the spot, I picked his company because I felt he was an experienced, honest, and nice guy -- plus I far prefer to do work with family businesses. In the interim till the two installers came out to do the job three weeks later, Al answered my text questions quickly, and we ended up increasing the number of railings. I was a bit concerned about our project because our stairs are terrazzo and have some repaired cracks. But the installers, Javier and Esteban, were very knowledgeable and assured me all would be well. Their truck had everything needed to weld or make any little adaptations on the spot. They were respectful of our property (lots of in-ground and potted plants close by) and were very patient with my questions. With the completion of the job, I asked them to make a very minor aesthetic adjustment and also sand and paint a couple of tiny imperfections. They did so graciously -- no eye-rolling or sighing. Gomez Iron Works was super helpful. My building's front gate stopped locking. Arturo inspected the gate, and quickly found the problem on the strike plate. He showed me how to fix it myself and did not charge me for the advice. Very helpful! read more

Dealing with Gomez Iron was one of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with a contractor. They butchered every gate and railing they put in. most of their measurements were off. The owner has never once showed up to see the final work done. Would never recommend them ever. read more

I echo the reviews (which I wish I had read before working with this company) regarding poor installation and a flawed finished product. We were initially thrilled that Gomez could turn around a gate in 3 weeks for our front door and paint it to match our newly renovated stairs. But the finished product shows drip marks from the paint and lots of bumpy joints that look like they will easily rust. Then, when the installers came, they didn't match the correct paint to cover over the metal bolts. If you look closely our costly new front gate is two different colors of blue. I have called, emailed and even spoke to the receptionist but I never received any follow up. I decided to pay my final invoice without closure but I hope my experience will provide caution to others. read more

Albert is a friendly like-able guy but...the product we received was very disappointing - it was bad. We opted for a modern horizontal modern gate with clean lines. The quote process was efficient. I paid the 1/3 of the quote and we were told in six weeks our security gate would be installed and it was installed close to the date. About 7 weeks after the deposit. Here's a summary of failures: Fabrication: The main gate has a vertical bow in it. There is welding slag from the welds left all over, never cleaned up. The welds look like they didn't penetrate the pieces properly. The joints weren't cleaned with a grinder. The gate is meant to be sleek and modern and it is curvy and unfinished. The manufacturing looks as if a high schooler made the gate in shop class. Or like a used gate was installed. The photos Al shared with us were not representative of the gate we received...by a long shot. Finish/Painting: Our gate was galvanized and painted. The installers beat up the gate during transportation, but Albert mentioned all ironworks companies do this and touch up on site. There were significant drips from the galvanized dipping (which is actually not Gomez as they take it in). They then finished painting it with Rustoleum from a spray can. You will need to have your new gate repainted. Our paint looks splotchy. Installation: There is a bow in the front plane of the installation which is easily seen in the photos. We requested 3 doorbell buttons and they weren't fabricated. The installers told me they needed to come back. They eyeballed most of the cuts they needed to make on site. They had to come back to fix it. They tried to remedy the issues but we are still left with a bowed gate that I need to have a professional grind, sand and repaint or have replaced all together. This is not a cheap gate. It's permanent. I regret having chosen Gomez Iron Works. read more

new gates installed 18 months ago. one gate works perfectly, the lock on the other gate has never worked properly. they came out twice at no charge and supposedly fixed it and the third time they were here for 15 minutes and used WD40 and charged me $450!!!! I talked him down from $700 service charge. Ridiculous! what terrible customer service. read more

I can't say enough good things about Albert and his crew at Gomez Iron Works. They installed the hand rails back in 2020 and recently installed the driveway gate. Both great quality products and service and install was great both times as well. Highly recommend! read more

We worked with Patrick Conor - He was great, and so easy to work with! All communication was very clear, and they showed up promptly for the two appointments. Patrick was also helpful in giving us feedback on a design for the railings, one interior and one exterior. We have a 1936 Spanish style house, and we are very pleased with how the railings look in our home. In addition, there was an error at the paint store for the color of the interior rail. Even though this was NOT their mistake, there was no additional charge for the extra work this caused, and without complaint, they took the railing back to the shop and repainted it with the correct color. Update : Al came to my property and spent a total of 5 minutes barely even looked at the crap work his guys did( probably cuz he already knows how crappy the work was). And instead of saying I'll make you a new set of rails and mount them the way they were supposed to be mounted ( they mounted them on old wood i stead of the concrete) he tells me the find somebody else to do the rails and he'll come back and take these down when the new ones go up. This was his best solution to the garbage work they did. And this was supposed to be worth $9,000 get the fuck out of here! read more

This is the worst vendor I've ever had to deal with. Mr. Gomez Junior comes and promises everything, but then delivers nothing, and when he is confronted with it, he calls me a liar and said that he didn't want my business and to take my money back, knowing that, we were in a pinch. I needed the job fast. I would seriously warn everyone to beware, that even if he promises cheaper service it is not a fact that he will deliver. When you call the office, they say that they cannot contact the workers, so they doesn't seem to actually have control over them so they do what they want. Therefore, the promises are not worth much. Also, although he said he would return my deposit, he didn't so I had to dispute it. read more

Had my front entrance gate replaced and had the worst installation possible by a couple of installers who I thought were very experienced but ended up breaking my front porch light and instead of apologizing and manning up the problem but instead blaming the porch light and had the galls to tell me just relocate the light and on top of that they didn't properly wire my doorbell and left it not working!! To make it worse I didn't want the gate anymore so I talked to Al Gomes and he would only offer a measly $100 off a $4200 price tag and I would had let it go if would of had a bit of etiquette towards his customers but instead said it was human error and took no responsibility for his employees and also pointed out that his installers were over spraying black paint on my brand new concrete walkway a had done! I'm so disappointed in this local business I highly do not recommend companies who don't value customers.. read more

I had my front entrance gate replaced and saw the most incompetent installers of my life. They needed power and insisted on taking if trom the hall, closer, instead of the garage, 4 yards further. The main door could not be closed. Debris was flying go inside my house as they were gutting the previous door. After installing the new gate, they started to paint if using spray bomb. They messed up my wall. I could no longer breathe. The fumes were coming inside my house. I unplugged their tools and close the main door. They also needed to plug the doorbell. I heard it. I though it was done. In fact, they were just testing it to make sure the old one was working. They started to cut the wires and somehow damaged the wires inside the wall and told they could not do it and I needed to repair the wires inside the wall. My doorbell is dead and I can't repair it without breaking the entire wall to see where they managed to break the wires. And they left, with all wires dangling outside the gate, and they stole the button of my doorbell! And.. I also had to clean up all the metal debris left on my driveway.. Those tiny prices could easily shred car tires. As for the gate, the design is wrong. I undestand you need to drill holes to galvanized inside.. But do they need to be on the top and allow rain water fall inside and get trapped? The smooth part should have been on the top and the holes should have been unnoticeable on the bottom. My wife tried to call them. They never called us back. For the price, I was expecting better. For the price, save yourself some major trouble. AVOID AT ANY COST read more

I needed a quote for a gate with a bent hinge. I unbolted the part of the door opener to show the previous welder that it was not the closer, but the bottom gate hinge itself that was bent. I left the opener unbolted when Gomez stopped by. He quoted a door opener replacement for $1,000 dollars. A door opener itself cost anywhere from $80-160. Since I installed the last one I know that I had to unbolt the old one and bolt in a new one. Maybe Gomez charges $900/hour for labor. He must think I'm stupid. I cannot work with him. read more

I called to have two fence posts removed and the guy said it wasn't worth their time. Although if I had them replace a railing they would remove the fence posts for free. I wouldn't trust them, the guy told me to use a sander to remove the posts. Yeah right it's made of metal, he doesn't even know which tool to use. He thought he would man-splan it to me. read more

I'm a general contractor. Albert agreed to send a crew to one of our job sites to weld some guardrails. For a week, I requested a written estimate and proof of insurance. Every subcontractor is required by law to provide these before performing any work for a GC. Every day both he and the office played me off each other "call the office," "Albert's working on it". The morning of the job came - still nothing in writing. I texted Albert again and he told me I was too much trouble and to never call them again. So now our clients' home is left with no guardrails at a third floor terrace for Labor Day weekend. So far I have not been able to find anyone to do the job for the next 6 to 8 weeks. They don't keep their appointments. First I made an appointment one month in advance for the estimates on work around my entry stairs. Then I called one week before to ask to move an appointment and office assistant moved it , no issue. However on the day of the appointment I called just to make sure they remember about my appointment and the same office assistant said she doesn't have anything in her calendar. If you don't need a modern gate design, have no urgency, I would go with Gomez. They don't respond to emails or return phone calls in a timely manner. But I must say our Gate was installed in 1970s by Gomez and still works. But if you want a modern architectural design with smart lock I would go elsewhere. read more

During COVID, I ordered 2 gates. One for my rental unit. One for my house. The sales person came out and quoted a price and I gave him a deposit. He said it would be 10-12 weeks. Well, it took 25 weeks! I had to call and email and text so many times, it was just crazy. When they installed them, the doors had scratches. Well, they do not have touch up paint. Told me to go buy some. So, I paid the balance. Reluctantly. Then, they double charged me on my credit card! I of course had to call, email, text, call to get the credit. I finally just disputed the amount with my credit card company. What out for this company. Poor quality. Terrible service and unethical. BE careful. read more

One younger guy in particular wouldn't even speak to me tho I know he spoke some English. They must have such a surplus of business that they feel entitled to treat people like dirt. Had an estimator come out to tell me he will call me back. Fast forward 2 months and at least 8 calls from my end and 8 empty promises to speak with someone, no business. "Ok if you want me to come $500 only for electrical." Gomez, refuse to call him mister, with not even coming out to look at it, demands the price after speaking me. I think it's because he was tired of me calling for his business to put food on his plate. Do not do business with this company. Seems like other people have had their time wasted as well...... 2022! What do you know, I'm back again and this time it's for me. I now have a disability and some trouble with mobility. We needed a more secure railing to go up and down stairs and 2 side gates that has seen better days. Measurements were taken. After a few days, I called and requested that the gate be accessible to me when on wheelchair. After some modifications, I feel safer and more confident to take stairs and hang on to my strong railing. I just want to say, thank you so so much! I love it all! read more
