I love gong cha! It has to be one of my favorite boba places of all time. To start with, the drinks are fire!!!!! The strawberry milk smoothie with salted cheese foam is one of my favorites and my friend's, too. Their foam is tasty and really creamy. The smoothie is very unique but also delicious! It has a strawberry milkshake taste but very different and even better!!! The workers are friendly and the service is really fast. My daughter and I went to the bathroom, came out and our drinks were ready! The ambiance when you walk in is very roomy and has clean tables. Haven't tried their boba yet, but I will. I went today and got a medium Panda milk tea but sad to say I'm really disappointed because they don't put all black pearl instead they mix it with the white pearl. They should just let me know if they don't have the black pearl because some stores like Top Up they will tell you honestly that they run out of black pearl. They put only a little bit of black pearl and mixed with white boba. Please don't cheat the customer. read more

I've been going to this place for years and have loved this spot! Today was my first ever time I've been so rudely treated. My friend and I went inside and sat down at a table while we waited for our friend to arrive. 10minutes later we get asked if we were gonna order anything because the tables are for customers only. We kindly reply yes and that we were just waiting for our friend. Give or take another 10minutes pass until the same lady yells at us that we need to order something or get out because the tables are for customers only. So of course we order and thankfully just after we did our friend arrives too. What doesn't make sense to me is why she was angry. Came to Gong Cha tonight. I've been purchasing milk tea at this store since I was in Hong Kong. This store made me really angry today because the employee refused to make second one for me when it was "buy one get one free period 6pm-8pm". I told them to make the second one for me when I saw there's only one milk tea for me on table. However, the female manager came out, yelling at me, refused to make second complimentary one. I said that's cheating customers because it's "buy one get one free", and then she started threatening me, said she'd kick me out. I said ok that's not my fault, you guys refused to make the second one. This place was so disappointing. Coming in on a weeknight, it wasn't very busy yet it took them about 5 minutes to come out to take our order because they were in the back doing things. My friends were craving Gong Cha when we hung out a few months ago and we stopped by here that evening. For some reason, I never knew there was a Gong Cha here and this location's fairly closer to me compared to the other locations. It's located in the downtown area, so it's hard to find parking (either garage parking or street parking). Sadly I didn't know that there was a deal where if you buy food from Baguette (right next to them because they share the space) first, you can get a small discount on your drinks, I wish I knew this beforehand because I ordered my drinks here first before I ordered my banh mi. I ordered my usual jasmine milk tea with boba, which was okay but it tasted a bit off and watery. We also got a marble drink which was alright and not sweet enough, so they had to fix it, but it was still okay after they fixed it. I wanted to take a picture of the pretty layers but ended up not taking a picture because apparently all of their cold drinks comes in a white cup which I'm pretty sure is for hot drinks. Other than the drinks being off, the service wasn't all that great. The younger girls working weren't all that friendly or patient. The extra star's because this was a chill spot to hang out at. It's a good spot to hang out with friends and/or study because you can get drinks/food here then chill and also they've a bathroom which is a plus. read more

They were pretty fast at making the drinks. I decided to order the egg puffs at the last minute because they smelt so good! I saw that they were making the eggs puff and the first one came out burnt so they started making another one. After that attempt they informed me that something was wrong with the machine. I really appreciative that they explained what had happened and offered to fix the machine or provide a refund. Since I was in a hurry I took the refund. One of my favorite boba tea shops so far. Why? I can taste the warm tea before the ice melts into it. Lots of toppings fill the bottom. Love the clean and fun atmosphere. They have boxes of games for groups to enjoy while tea sipping. On one TV, there was anime, the other a cartoon. Adjacent to the cafe is Baguette, a sandwich and snack shop. When I saw this place with the posters for iced boba tea drinks I had to go in! It shares an open space with the food place next door, so I guess you could order your food and just slide over to get your boba with minimal effort. I got their medium-sized black milk tea with boba and while good and satisfying, I can't say it was extraordinary. I've been to Gong Cha in many places in Asia and now it's here locally...FINALLY! They unfortunately opened up just recently before the Corona virus pandemic so I'm sure this has hurt them some. But they have re-opened for business in early May! I love their matcha milk tea with red bean! And I must since T4 has been closed I've discovered the popcorn chicken HERE which is totally scrumptious!! My only complaint is that I haven't seen any red chili powder to season it! Another this was last week the cashier person who was taking my order told me that they no longer were offering red bean or other toppings. So I was really confused. Did she mean they ran out temporarily? Or are they really NOT offering toppings permanently...which would be really odd for a boba drink place. I hope this not true. Service was excellent and the drink (Blueberry Smoothie) was amazingly prepared by Linda (Very friendly with a great smile). Promotion was BOGO - hence I got the blueberry smoothie and my friend got the blueberry lemonade. Drink came fast and excellently prepared. I have been ordering from this Gong cha store for so many times in person and through doordash because this is the only boba place that takes Doordash pass near my workplace. They did ok evertime except for this time they completely forgot my milk foam top that I was being charged for in this group doordash order. I had no way to ask them to remake the tea for me because the order was already delivered. Not minding that extra 50 cents of charge but the taste was completely different without the milk foam since I just ordered pure brewed tea. It tasted so plain. Stopped in here earlier this month with the girl while we were checking out the Alameda Spring Festival Outside. While there are two boba shops within walking distance of each other here on Park where the festival is at, Gong Cha is by and far the largest, and most predominately visible shop of the two. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that this is the largest Gong Cha location that I have ever been to! This is the second time I've been past this location, and both times, this place has been packed with people. The interior is very well lit with both indoor lighting, as well as natural sunlight from their large glass window panes. Plus the inside has a nice, clean, white décor that lends an inviting feel for a food establishment. While this Gong Cha location has a multitude of boba sections to choose from, I went with one of my usuals, a large Lychee Oolong Tea w/ boba for $4.75. The tea itself was pretty tasty, but I really love their fresh, chewy boba balls here. The wait both in line and for our order was a bit longer than usual, however I had good company which made the time go by pretty fast. They also have quite a large number of available tables and bar stools available for seating, as well as board games that you can play to pass the time. As the establishment is so large, in addition to shouting out order #'s, they will also broadcast it on their PA system if no one comes to claim their drink. read more

Rude cashiers , poor customer service. Even if I am buying a drink or using my birthday drink for free, a customer shouldn't be treated different. Yes I got a bday reward for a free drink, but the girl workers working at this location, made the drink and the cup was broken when they gave it to me. When I went back to tell them, worried about drinking the broken piece of plastic that would've broken inside my drink, they just told me they would just give me a cup to put over the drink, instead of proper customer service and pour it into a new cup. So as expected when I drank my drink, I found a large piece of plastic from the cup that I almost swallowed thru the straw. Poor customer service and lazy workers. read more

Made a quick visit looking for an oreo milk tea on Park St in Alameda. That animal is hard to find, I can find it in Fremont and Milpitas but have too look hard elsewhere in the East Bay. I decided to visit the new Gong Cha in a great location and to see the ordering screens and bright lights. It was crowded so I think they will have a fantastic summer in Alameda. The place is spotless and well organized. I only give them a 3 stars cause they did not have my oreo milk tea. I will visit again and see what happens to see if the rating can increase to a 4 star. read more

This place ain't my cup of tea. 50% sweet tastes too sweet and 100% is diabetes sweet. Ordering my drink took forever, but making my drink wasn't too bad. They have friendly servers and clean tables. Gong Cha! Finally! I've been waiting for you to open for SUCH a long time. Gong Cha is my new favorite boba brand in Alameda. I prefer this to T4 and iTea! They do have less options/flavors. But whats popular is their Mustache, which is just tea with milk foam on top. I generally prefer their regular milk teas, and like most boba shops, you can customize your sweetness and ice levels! For hot drinks though, you can only get that medium sized. Gong Cha is a little more pricier than the other boba shops, but worth it. Gong Cha shares its new floors with Baguette, and makes the layout seem much more spacious. I've tried their regular milk teas (Early Grey, Jasmine, Black, Wintermelon, etc) , their premium milk tea (which is like the same thing to regular milk teas), and their Strawberry Milk tea (which I love!) I was SO excited that we were getting a Gong Cha closer to home! I have always told my friends that Gong Cha is my favorite, but I think I change my mind now... sadly. I do love how nice this new location is. Very bright and inviting. The workers were very nice, but they didn't seem to know much. We tried to get coffee, but they said they don't serve coffee (even though it is on the menu). We asked if they just didn't start or if they ran out. They scrambled asking each other, but no one knew, so we just said forget it. I have gotten a few drinks from this location, and sadly none of them have satisfied my taste buds. One thing that bothered me was the grass jelly. I like my grass jelly silky smooth, and every time I have gotten it here it feels very dense (like it is from the can). The last time I got a drink, I was so disappointed that I didn't even drink it. It went to waste, unfortunately. I would like to give it another chance, but with all the other places nearby it becomes a challenge. Especially with my last experience. Husband and I used to live close by (within walking distance) and got excited when we saw that Gong Cha was replacing a poke place. Every day when I drove home from work, I'd glance by and be sorely disappointed that Gong Cha hadn't opened yet. Lo and behold, Gong Cha opened after we moved. Sad, but maybe better for our health, considering we lived within walking distance of T4, Gong Cha and i-Tea. Gong Cha is a spacious and bright location, with high ceilings that make the space seem bigger. You can also order snacks, but at a separate cashier/counter. I've tried their wintermelon milk tea, longan honey tea and the sparkling QQ passion fruit. The last is probably my favorite--it's light and refreshing, and a nice caffeine-free option. The other two drinks are just meh. I prefer I-Tea's wintermelon milk tea over Gong Cha, and T4's hot drinks over the longan tea. read more

This place has gone down hill since a year ago. It used to be great value and a nice place to hang out. But after their re-grand opening, the milk tea just don't taste the same anymore. You can tell the ingredients are not good quality. Each drink tastes watered down, with skimp amount of toppings. The popcorn chickens often come out soggy and too chewy. After such a long time of waiting, it finally opened! I kept checking every week to see when it would. I love how spacious it is compared to other Gong Cha locations. It also shares the space with Baguette, which sells banh mi, rice bowls, and salads. I went there during the evening and the wait wasn't too bad. Their menu is not too overwhelming, so that's a good thing cause I can be indecisive at times. I ordered the Earl Grey Fresh Milk Tea with grass jelly at 30% sweetness and 50% ice level. It was perfect! Not too sweet and just right! My friend ordered the Strawberry Milk Foam Tea with 50% sweetness, and she thought it was okay. I definitely liked my drink better but maybe because milk foam tea should not have the sweetness adjusted. We also got their mochi waffle, which was amazing! It was crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. It might be as good or even better than Third Culture in Berkeley. I was really surprised with how good it was. It seemed like they were very unorganized, especially when announcing order numbers. On top of that, they made me the wrong drink. The drink itself was alright.
