This is strictly a review for the ramen and udon! Tonkotsu ramen was pretty good! I'm not 100% sure if it's authentic tonkotsu, but all things considered it hit the spot on a rainy Wednesday. It was savory without being too overpoweringly salty, had two pieces of tender chashu (which is rare in this economy), and the noodles had a nice bite to it. My friend got the udon and she said it was good, although she felt the chicken was a bit bland. This restaurant is located on a busy street in Alameda where parking is extremely limited. We like to try to find something near residential and walk, but even then it can get frustrating to find a parking spot. Once you walk into the restaurant, there's indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor seating is covered by a patio, and on colder days, I'm assuming they will put a heater out there? I'm not too sure, since I don't actually eat outside often. Indoor is well lit up, and has a decent amount of seating. The biggest table I have seen seats around 6 people, but can be more if you have small children I suppose. We mostly order the rolls here, and to be fair, it's a decent pricing. However, it is a hit or miss. 1. Lion King - Decent. Taste all the same everywhere you go if you ask me. 2. Deep Fried Spicy Tuna - Must have, definitely my favorite. 3. Golden Gate - More on the saucy side with imitation crab meat, it's basic. 4. Dragon Roll - Again, same anywhere you go. 5. Double Salmon Roll - Salmon on the inside, salmon on the outside. Cheaper alternative than to just getting nigiri or salmon sashimi. The customer service here is not the best in my opinion. The first time we took a friend there for his birthday, and it was terrible. The host, waiter/server, and manager disregarded us. However, a table next to us got the friendliest treatment. The type of treatment you give when you expect them to come back so you can address them by their name. The second time we've been here, the customer service was basic. No expectations, just take your order, serve, and a simple question of how is everything. Honestly, customer service could have been much more reasonable at even the most basic level. Overall, the food is ok. I wouldn't say it's like the best, but if you're here for lunch or a quick bite, it's fine. read more

Based on service only: Really frustrating experience with Sushi & More. I drove out of my way based on the hours listed online, only to find the place closed. What made it worse was that the doors were open and there were employees inside huddled around a table. When I walked in, they just casually said the place was closed--no explanation, no signage, nothing. I even asked when they'd be open again and none of them had an answer. No one seemed to know what was going on. If your hours have changed or you're not serving, update your website and put a sign on the door. This was a complete waste of my time and a pretty poor customer experience. read more

It's good enough unless one had an expensive taste for sushi and willing to pay more, but if you just need some quick and simple sushi that won't break the wallet, this is the place to go. The service was straightforward and a nice vibe, it has nice decor adding to the atmosphere. I took my brother for a belated birthday gift and enjoys sushi a lot. Really enjoyed my brief "layover" at this sushi spot in Alameda. I was in town for another reason but detoured here first. Blame it on the yelp reviews! My roll and sake nigiri were delicious! Decided to try this from all the reviews I've seen on DoorDash. Ordered for pick up. Street parking only, very hard to find. Had to drive around the block 3x but finally got lucky. California roll was almost $10 which was kinda expensive, but the roll was big! Totally worth it. I had the super California roll which had unagi on top. Lion king and fried Philly roll as well. Updating my review of Sushi & More to an easy five stars. This gem of a sushi restaurant in Alameda has been exceptionally consistent in providing great food and equally great service. Whether you're dining in, or getting takeout, the food is always fresh and presented well. We've been doing takeout the last few times, but we'll have to sit down at the restaurant again one of these days. This is my family's favorite sushi restaurant in the area. We always get the beef (rib eye) bento box. The beef is always cooked right and its never over cooked! I really appreciate that! My elderly parents really like their chicken udon. They like flavor of the broth and the chicken is cooked to their liking. You cant go wrong with their chirashi, hamachi sashimi or their salmon sashimi. Any one of them is delicious! All are served with miso soup and salad. We have also tried their baked lion king roll, baked bay scallop roll and double hamachi roll and all three are excellent choices. Majority of their stuff is served in to-go boxes. Nothing wrong with that but apparently they are very a popular spot for to-go Japanese food. It's crazy but they also serve boba drinks. The servers are all very nice and welcoming. I come here regularly when visiting family. The Bentos are always a great option if you're feeling extra hungry otherwise the EZ bowls are filling lunch as well. The EZ Bowls are great since they come with a perfectly crispy, croquette, -like a giant hash brown chock full of potato. Good amount of salmon and beef with the teriyaki options with enough for leftovers. The double Hamachi roll was great too with large pieces of fish in the roll and on top. The inside of the restaurant is very clean as well and pretty modern since they updated recently. Parking can be tough as always on Park Street, but otherwise solid place for lunch, dinner or takeout. read more

Normally chirashi or bento box are my go to. Bento box has CA roll and gyoza included. Today tried a beef EZ bowl. Delicious steak perfectly cooked and juicy. Poke tower was yummy and beautiful presentation. Double salmon and double hamachi rolls were thick cuts of fish. They even brought a water dish for my dog! Cute place that serves sushi and boba drinks. Fast service and quick seating on a weekend night. We ordered a caterpillar roll, golden gate roll, and salmon bento box. Bento box was great but the rolls were a little disappointing. Food breakdown - drinks- only water is offered. No complimentary tea. They do sell sake, cocktails, and boba drinks including Thai tea, milk tea, fruit teas. - salmon bento box came with 2 fillets of grilled salmon, 6 slices of California roll, 2 croquettes, 3 dumplings, and a big scoop of rice with a side of house salad. No side miso soup included. The salad was good. The salmon was nicely cooked with crispy skin. The croquettes were light and crispy. I do have beef with their sushi rolls though... -sushi rolls- decent size California roll: had lots of mixed fake crab. A small bit of avocado. But no cucumber... it throws me off. Golden gate roll: dressed up California roll topped with half salmon and half hamachi. Also no cucumber. Caterpillar roll: again, lots of fake crab meat, but the shrimp tempura is very skinny small, guess they use tiny shrimps. And, there was no unagi or cucumber. Tbh, the descriptions of the sushi rolls on the menu are correct.. it's just that I've come to expect certain things in my sushi when I order common rolls like California roll and caterpillar roll. It was so nice to be able to wash my hands before eating without having to go into a bathroom. Website - Open 7 days a week from 11:30am till 8:30pm. Yelp hours differ = 6 days a week from noon till 8pm or 9pm, closed Mondays. Please call to confirm. Service - This is where it could have been improved. Very slow night, so you would expect a little more attention? The good news is that we got everything we asked for, the bad news is that we had to flag the team member down every time we needed something. And we were the only customers at the time... Not the worst, but certainly not great--I have no idea how this place is getting 5 star reviews. Something fishy is going on here... Chicken Karage was the oddest looking karage I've ever seen. Chicken pieces were very flat/squarish with weird texture, and it did not taste very good. I've never left a meal with uneaten fried chicken, so this might have been a first for me. Sushi rolls were got were equally subpar. Eel on the golden roll was mealy/squishy, the tempura shrimp was not crunchy at all, and the cucumber was not peeled so it was tough to bite through. Tuna Maki tasted like questionable quality tuna. The Rainbow roll and our salmon nigiri were the bright points, but they were "good" and not particularly worth writing home about. Service was decent, so I don't fault the front of the house at all, but the kitchen needs a lot of work in a town with so many other sushi options. read more
