Came in on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. I ordered the taro milk tea and black sesame waffle and both were fine. The taro milk tea is one of the few drinks that doesn't have caffeine and can be made hot. The only problem is that the sweetness can't be adjusted, since it's made from a powder, and I found my drink to be painfully sweet. (For reference, I normally ask for 30 or 50% sweet on my milk teas). I did also get their "milk foam" topping (aka salty crema or cheese foam at other places). The topping was very good. The black sesame waffle was cooked fresh and given to me crispy and hot in a cup. The texture was very good, but the sesame flavor was kind of mild. It seemed to have more a black sesame color effect a black sesame flavor. Staff was really nice though when I asked a bunch of questions about the menu. read more

I wished there was more seating available for the spacious bubble tea location as it does not take many groups to fill up the place. Gong Cha is by far my #1 BBT spots! I live a two minute walk from this place and try not to go too often because that daily BBT will ADD up. My go to drink is the royal milk tea (half sweet), and if you go on Fridays, they have a special price of $3.99 + tax. If you go on a regular day, the price can be pretty hefty. My only suggestion with their drinks is that they're very sweet automatically, i'd suggest getting 30% or 50% sugar. What's nice is that you can adjust the sugar and ice level based on your preference. Pearls cost extra as well, but they won't break the bank! Reason why I'm not giving 5, the service is just okay. They're not usually smiling, they don't ever converse in conversation or even have a friendly tone. I'll continue to visit because like I said, hot damn it's the best BBT around, and I've tried A LOT of BBT in my time! read more

I dropped by this afternoon to try the Strawberry Green Milk Tea of their Valentine's Strawberry Series. Normally line up is 4-5 people when I come here, but I got lucky it wasnt as busy this afternoon, so ordering was faster than usual. They gave me a strawberry green tea in error, but gladly made another one - the right one - without a fuss. The price was a bit steeper than my normal BBT cup (at the $6 range) and it comes, by default, in a medium size, but it's delicious. There's a hint of milky strawberry taste at first, and then an after taste of fragrant green tea follows. The strawberry flavoured jelly is fun to eat - it's like jellyace but just a bit chewier! The place is clean and has ample seating for groups. It seemed they also had board games available for guests to use, so that's a nice touch! read more

I can't share experiences eating / dining in here. However, i definitely want to call out the crappy service we received On Saturday, December 2nd, my wife & I went to Gong Cha in the mid-afternoon for a bubble tea. While there was a group ordering ahead of me and my wife, the person at the cashier turned focus to his friends that came in and talking about flavors to try today. Despite the fact the people in front of him haven't finished ordering yet let alone paying. And then when it was finally our turn, he was focused more on socializing and I had to give an awkward "um we're right here" type of look before he noticed. While he was "taking our order", he was still socializing away. Later on, my drink was made but my wife was skipped over as he was wholly focused on socializing with his friends and making drinks for his friends. My drink was actually mixed with my wife's as she asked for 0% sweet and he made that for mine. I didn't want to bother going back as already wasted 20 minutes waiting for bubble tea despite only being the 4th & 5th drink needed to be made...the manager had to help make ours after we said "um we're missing ours" while he was still socializing away I mean it's horrible and sad that this is the only bubble tea place in Coquitlam...OH WAIT ITS NOT....AWESOME....my recommendation is go somewhere else that has staff that doesn't skip over you to focus on the party/socializing. Not my first time seeing this, and we only went back because of gingerbread cups they had. otherwise, try places like Pearl Fever, (5 minute drive away) Inside Out (that's a 5 minute walk away), and others. Came here around 11am and ordered the special of the day which was Royal Milk tea with pudding for $3.99. I added pears for 50c. I got 70% ice and 30% sugar. They got the order right and it tastes good. We waited less than 10 minutes since they were preparing the orders of those ahead of us. The place is cute! Lots of seating with some board games located on a shelf. Not too busy at this time so it's nice to go and meet up here with friends or even study! Lots of parking outside and it's near Coquitlam center. The place is clean and the workers are kind. If you are craving milk tea I think this is a great place. I personally really like GongCha bubble tea, but that's coming from someone who is obsessed with black tea milk tea. I don't typically venture into the fruity drinks. My only reason for the loss of star is because it's a little pricier than most bubble tea places. It's good, but not thaaaat good for the price point. They also have a really interesting foam that you can add. It's supposed to be both salty and sweet. Almost tastes cheesy. Adds an interesting note! read more

The staffs are generally friendly and it's pretty fast. Convenient spot with parking lot outside, bus stop across the street, and skytrain at walking distance. It wasn't the greatest experience that I had at a boba shop. So I think I've got to give it another shot, probably when it's not so busy. Tried to order a drink... Found out that they were sold out of what I wanted, then picked out another which was also sold out. Decided to just ask the person taking my order what I should get. He suggested to get the Royal Milk Tea. Supposedly it is a traditional Taiwanese favourite, so I gave it a try. It was kinda complicated ordering, cuz you had to choose how much ice and sugar percentage you wanted. Being that it was my first time there, I had no clue and just asked them to surprise me. I live in Richmond and I happily drive to the coquitlam gong cha because out of all the places I've tried so far, this is the only one with non-dairy milk. I'm visiting from out of town and this place just opened for their soft opening! They have their grand opening on Saturday. The place is run by a bunch of teenagers who looked like they had no clue what they were doing. We waited almost 30 mins for our order of 3 drinks and 2 bubble waffles. We later found out the girl who was making it kept messing up the waffles and had to remake them. By the time we got home and tried our drinks, we were sorely disappointed. Drinks and bubble waffles were terrible. My milk foam earl grey tea tasted completely watered down because the ice had melted. It just shows you how long we waited for our order. I get that they're a new establishment and have kinks to work out but please don't leave a bunch of high school students to run the place and make the drinks on a busy Friday evening. Not to mention one of the 10 ppl "working" behind the counter knew almost every other person that came in (presume they all go to the same high school) and did more chatting than working. I got enticed to give this location gongcha another try when my 5points rewards app notified me that I had a buy 1 get 1(selected drink) reward at gongcha. I went in on a sunny afternoon Saturday and asked the cashier if I could use the reward and wanted to know what the selected drink was. She told me she didnt know and the other worker also said he didnt know what the drink was. I then asked if we could just choose 2 drinks and see if the reward would even apply itself on the system. She then requested that I just return another day. I was so flabbergasted that I reiterated my request to see if they would even attempt to fulfill my reward. I also advised them that I dojt think I'll be able to return within the time period or the reward to use it. The cashier awkwardly told me she didnt know what the selected drinks were so she didn't want to give it to me. Oh gongcha coquitlam - this is definitely not how to keep customers. The rewards system is yours yet your staff isnt well trained to understand everything that rolls out. If that's the case, perhaps the more prudent way to handle this situation was to honor the reward as is and then to confirm it with the manager or owner that is away what to do for future customers that come in with the same reward. Instead, this visit has thoroughly given me a bad taste of gongcha coquitlam's customer service and I doubt I'll ever return. Theres almost 5 bubble tea stores in the area with 3 of those stores within a 1 to 2 block radius. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you're looking for good tasting bubble tea and proper quick service. read more
