We came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was pretty empty. There's not much of a wait to order and not many customers during the lunch rush hour, which wasn't a great sign, but we ordered it anyway. The best part is the food is made to order, so it took a while to arrive and that was okay with us. It's fried fresh and definitely piping hot when we got it. However, the taste was pretty lacking and the chicken itself isn't well marinated. It certainly relies on the sauces to add flavor to the chicken. I wish I had better things to say about the fried chicken. It was almost $40 for 16 pieces. Torrance Food Crawl #423 It wasn't that many years ago when I first heard of Korean fried chicken; now, many restaurants offer this fare, which is a good thing. This Goobne Chicken location is one of three food choices in the food court on the south side of the Hannam Chain Del Amo market in Torrance. The chicken is available with bones or boneless. The best flavor I've had was the Galbi, which was very lightly on the sweet side with a slight barbeque flavor. The chicken is oven-roasted and has always been well-cooked and juicy. I've also had the Original and Pepper Crispy, and while those were good, I preferred the Galbi. Bowls are also available with chicken & rice and other toppings. They are much more manageable, easier to eat, with less mess. The chicken is cooked to order and I've usually had a short delay of perhaps 15-20 minutes or so to get my meal. I visited Goobne Chicken in Torrance today. Around 5:30 PM, I noticed a female staff member eating outside the store. When I asked her if they were on a lunch break because I wanted to place an order, she reluctantly took my order, seeming annoyed. The menu board displayed "Chicken Wings Small (S)," so I asked her how many wings were included. She pointed to the other menu board standing next to cashier and replied sharply, "Doesn't it say four pieces?" Her attitude was quite unexpected and left me wondering if she was dealing with personal issues, as there was no sign of friendliness or kindness in her demeanor. Anyway, I ordered 4 pieces of Soy Garlic and 4 pieces of Sweet Spicy wings and paid for my wings. After receiving the buzzer, I waited for over 30 minutes, but it never buzzed. I approached the same female staff member again and found out she was the only one working in the entire store. Every time new customers came to place an order, it delayed the preparation of my food. When I asked how much longer it would take, she said it would be ready soon and disappeared into the kitchen. Shortly after, she brought out my order with a displeased expression and told me that fresh chicken takes a long time to cook. I couldn't help but think how much better it would have been if she had informed me about this from the start. This was my first time visiting Goobne Chicken, so I asked her if she was responsible for both taking orders and cooking the food. She replied, "Do you see anyone else here besides me?" she said in an unpleasant tone. Feeling uncomfortable, I picked up my food and left for home, which was about 15 minutes away. When I tried the wings, I noticed that the second piece seemed larger than the others. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that the meat inside was undercooked. After looking up other reviews, I found that the owner had mentioned something about "pinking" being a natural phenomenon and safe to eat. He said the only one thats spicy is the volcano. So of course I got that one! Volcano wings (4): First bite was super tasty. You could taste the sweetness. Heat doesn't seem too bad. I went during open day but they were so popular that they ran out of wings quickly and only had boneless left. A week later though; I was back and they had everything on the menu and quicker turn around too! (Chicken can now be pre-ordered via phone or if you order there; they state the turn around is 10-15 minutes.) Here at Goobne; they have a main menu, combos and sides. Combos only come in large portions and in wings. If you order from the main menu (non-combos); you can get medium or large portions and choice of boneless or wings. All of their chicken is oven roasted. As for the sides; they currently offer potato sidewinder, pickled radishes and 3 dips (gabli, volcano and spicy mayo). I ordered the Combo#8. For $28.99; it comes with half Original and half Galbi chicken. The Combo came with 16 pieces (8 of each flavor). The Galbi was definitely my favorite. It was so flavorful and loved how it was smothered with their special sauce that was flavored with 10 different Korean domestic fruits and vegetables. I also ordered a side of their potato sidewinder. It came with a spicy mayo dipping sauce. The potato sidewinder was ok but do wish it was more crispy. I thought for $5.99 it was slightly on the pricey side. I will probably skip on this next time. It's the chicken that is the main star at this place. It was uninspiring, maybe out fault for not ordering the right chicken when we picked the combo, which I think was fairly expensive, I believe around $30 for 16 pieces. With so many other Korean Chicken spots in the area I'm not sure if I'd try this place again nor recommend it, but at the same time I'd say it's worth trying as what I'm looking for in a K-Chick place may not be what others like and they may love this place. We actually got there a little early to do some shopping, but decided to wait because we really wanted to try the place. (Our kids really wanted fried chicken so we tried to order even after my initial bad experience). My husband orders and the girl's response was "You know that's gonna take like 20 mins right?" Our buzzer never rings so my husband goes up to her and asks about the status of our order. These chicken bowls were so incredibly tasty and almost perfect. The volcano one has great spice level for someone who enjoys and can handle spicy. My one downside to the bowl is the minimal amount of veggies. Although it is a chicken bowl and perfect for a more pickier eater that doesn't like vegetables, I feel there isn't enough balance to cut the heftiness of mostly chicken and rice. Prices are getting high but they are everywhere right now for this type of food I'm afraid. I'll start by saying the food is good which is why we decided to come here to pick up lunch after shopping. We ordered 5 chicken bowls. There was only one worker taking orders and prepping the food. We were told it would take "some time", so fine we waited. After about 20 minutes, still wasn't ready. We tried to get the workers attention to ask for an update but since there was only one (with earphones on) took a little while. After 30 minutes, we asked for a refund which we were met with an attitude saying something along the lines of "well I have to cook the chicken, I can't have it ready or give it to you faster unless you want to get sick". But whatever, not a big deal to me. My mother was a upset that there was no apology for the wait and they were making it seem like we were inconveniencing them when we asked for the refund. Not fully blaming the worker since they were alone, just be prepared to wait a long while if you see only 1 worker. Makes no sense that on a weekend lunch time, there is only one worker. Should at least be 2, even if it's usually slow. But the food is decent. The chicken bowl galbi has a little spice that we weren't aware of. Hopefully this place picks it up a bit. read more

As I was headed to the beach to ride my bicycle, I stopped by to grab a snack and a drink. I figured the small being 14.99 would have min six wings. To my surprise, the small was only four wings. The medium has eight wings for 17.99 and the large is 16 wings for 32.99. I decided to get the medium and stick with it while I was there. I got the volcano which it was between the volcano or the Galbi. It took quite a while for me to receive my order, but found out that the wings are baked and not fried, which was even better in my opinion. So the time it took to get my snacks, I knew that they were fresh. The volcano flavor was spectacular. I got a tiny 2 ounce ranch dressing for one dollar and to be honest I could've used maybe three or four of those for the entire meal of eight wings. At minimum they should give you one or two free sauces on the side for the dollar amount you are paying. All in all I paid around 22 bucks at $2.50 per wing and one dollar for a 2 ounce ranch dressing cup. They are probably the best wings I've had around the South Bay area but the price total to the wing amount is way too much per wing. I'm used to paying $.75 a wing one dollar a wing $1.25 a wing even is expensive but $2.50 a wing that's way way overpriced. The prices are way out of pocket. read more

The boneless is not chicken nuggets but more like thigh and leg meat.I prefer the boneless chicken here. I usually get the soy garlic and the sweet and spicy. I think both are pretty good as I frequent this location often. Plus, you get a 10 % discount if you get groceries. I think you just have to show the Hannam Chain receipt. If you have a high spice tolerance than you'll 100% be able to handle it! It's WAYYY LESS spicier than the original buldak noodles. The size of the wings were a decent size too, better than some other Korean chicken spots we've had so I think the cost is reasonable The sauce is super sticky so it coated the chicken very nicely! If you're craving Korean chicken but looking for a healthier option than Korean fried chicken, I would 100% check this place out. I can eat most spicy food but the volcano chicken was really spicy. I was sweating the whole time! It came out in 5 minutes and is more of a teriyaki chicken texture, not crunchy like wings. My recommendation for the restaurant is to have a wings combo with rice for lunch. Probably would still sell well at a $12 price point. They also forgot one order (pepper crispy) so make sure to open the chicken boxes from the table to avoid any unnecessary stress. Telephone number does NOT work. It went to someone's voicemail and they do not pick up. One out of two radishes exploded inside the bag but luckily the chicken box was not wet since the napkin absorbed all the liquid. First time trying. Tried soy garlic because that's my comparing point. Looked good and smelled good. They smelled more ginger-y than garlic-y. As I delved in, the more I got it, the pinkier it got. It scared me to eat raw chicken because of the salmonella. So I stopped and pass on to a smaller piece, which was better. No pink part on that one. So now I know to avoid bigger pieces.
