I moved to the South Bay in 2010 and have been eating at rascals for over 15 years. I placed an order for their deluxe combo (beef and white meat chicken. I made the mistake of not checking my order before leaving. 1st mistake. 2nd mistake I did not check the receipt. Got home, just chicken. I had ordered their Chinese chicken salad as well. I called them to let them know I was I my way back down and would pay the difference between the chicken teriyaki and the chicken and beef combo. I was told not to worry about it and that they would have it waiting for me. I came and was greeted by a young woman who said she remembered the phone call and would take care of it for me at which time the young man who keyed it in came over but before he could do anything what I believe to be the manager inserted herself and asked me where the meal was at which point she told me she couldn't do anything because she would need to remake it. This is one of the most asinine things I have ever heard . My walk in number was 498 , I had the receipt all she had to do was key in the difference. She insisted there was nothing she could do and I explained to her again I would like to pay the difference, get my beef and go home. She had a ridiculously bad attitude. If you have issues at work, outside of work, whatever, when you work in the service industry you should know how to handle a situation like this and resolve it in a way that has the customer feeling heard and respected. All I felt was disrespected leaving anything but satisfied. I took a picture of their menu board to give you an idea how ridiculous this whole transaction was. She charged me $12.50 for a small portion of beef. For a couple of bucks more I could have had an entire meal. I thought about confronting her about it but based on how callous she was I figured the best way of dealing with it is right here. When you are in the customer service business it doesn't matter how good your food is if the service sucks. I have spent thousands of dollars here buying large orders to feed a few hundred people as well as staff lunches. This is the last time I will purchase here. Next time I will head over to El Pollo Inka instead. I forgot they have a drive through a block east of rascals. Much better choice as far as customer service and food. If I could give Rascals a zero I would. If you own this franchise/business you might want to consider customer training for your upfront management. I've been going to the Gardena location on Artesia for so many years now, but was traveling through the area and was looking for something for a quick and predictable lunch. A crisp and cool CCS (Chinese Chicken Salad) sounded like it would hit the spot on this warm day. I've never been to this location, so I decided to stop in and take care of my CCS craving. As always, the place was pretty busy. I placed my order with the friendly cashier and my meal was ready pretty quickly. Lots of seating inside (maybe about 1/3 the size of Gardena location). Plenty of parking too but it shares with a Shakey's and a Subway. One can never go wrong with Rascal's CCS...it just has that taste and is always consistent. I did notice that it can be a bit loud inside with the music and all but hey, that's a good sign. Long live Rascal's! read more

I've come to this location for decades, maybe once every few years. I ordered a family meal for takeout today and was severely underwhelmed, which reminded me why I only go when I've forgotten how mediocre everything is. It's very clear they don't strive to be better, just keeping the business going and cutting corners to survive. I only got chicken and no beef and it was dry and tasted like it was reheated in a microwave or kept warm, definitely not freshly grilled. No excuse to treat the signature item as an afterthought. The Chinese chicken salad used to always hit the spot, but this time even the salad dressing couldn't make up for the dry shredded chicken and humble base. Rice was good as was the sauce, but those are the accompaniments.... In the future I will likely opt for a smaller mom and pop teriyaki joint, those seem to cook to order. read more

Was out in the field for work today. Everyone seems to rave about the teriyaki. Decided to stop In and have lunch. Ordered just a teriyaki chicken bowl. Came with a side of coleslaw. The cashier was extremely friendly. She had a great personality and offered me a cup for water when she noticed I did not order a soft drink. Place was half full. Half the tables available. Near and clean looking. The food itself was just ok. I don't get what the rave is about. I think it's just a local tradition if you live in the area. White rice. How can you mess that up? The serving for the price Was ok. It's just ALOT of rice with about half the amount of chicken compared to rice ratio. I made an order through a delivery app and was not able to add extra teriyaki sauce. I called and the lady who answer said they would not be able to do that because they are a 3rd party? I asked aren't you guys the restaurant? She says yes and says yeah I still can't add extra sauce because we charge for it. A Torrance staple, I've been coming to this Rascals ever since high school. I love the vibes in here; family owned restaurant (only 2 other locations (Gardena and Long Beach) and each time I've gone, I never left disappointed. Whatever your main item is, make sure you order the Chinese Chicken Salad as your side. The Teriyaki burger is great, the chicken sandwich also great. I love getting the combos as you can tell. lol. I'm usually never waiting long (keep in mind it's a popular spot so lunch or dinner rushes can happen. They have a soda fountain machine so you can always grab re-fill. One thing to remember about this location: parking can be TOUGH. You might have to loop around the small lot a couple of times during peak hours or find parking on the street or the adjacent strip mall. The Chinese Chicken Salad is the BOMB DOT COM. Rascals offers so many other great items but they are known for that salad. Love their curry. Love their burgers. Love their fries. I'm bringing the salad to Thanksgiving as it was requested. Went there at 5 to pick it up and decided to grab a burger for dinner. Business was brisk but not too bad. Plenty of parking when I arrived. Several people making pick ups. By the time I left, the pick up line was very long and the order line went from the register to the door. No joke.
