I honestly don't understand how or why he was hired, or why he continues to work there if he clearly does not want to. If he is working there simply because he is related to the owner, that would make the situation even worse. I truly hope the owner of this business reads this review.

We've previously tried their cold noodles, galbi, hot stone bimbimbap, tofu soup and seafood pancake. All are pretty good but the cold noodle is our favorite. This time we ordered their fishcake kimbap and the cold noodle and galbi combo. I previously saw photos of their kimbap but didn't see it on their menu until now so I was excited to try it. It comes with 20-24 pieces and a side of soup, quite a lot actually for one person. The kimbap was as expected, it was flavorful, had a slight crunch (from the pickled radish) and didn't fall apart easily while eating. It comes with a dipping sauce but it wasn't particularly noteworthy and I didn't feel it is required to use. The cold noodles were a bit different this time but overall had the same flavor. It comes with half an egg, pickled vegetables, slices of cucumber, and slices of meat in an icy broth with buckwheat noodles. Be sure to add the mustard and vinegar for added flavor. The side of galbi was as expected, but doesn't arrive sizzling like at many other Korean restaurants. The flavor can vary, sometimes more flavorful than other times but overall it still pairs well with the cold noodle. Service can be a bit spotty, especially when they only have one server doing everything. It can be hard to flag someone down so be prepared to sit around for a while if they have less staff and many customers. Overall not a dealbreaker but just something to be aware of.

Ordinarily, I don't care for the texture of shredded beef, but that's not on them, and the food was terrific. The banchan were plentiful and tasty; the cabbage kimchi was a standout. So why only 3 stars? From the beginning, the waiter, an older gentleman, was unsmiling. That's ok. I don't need him to smile or be friendly. I just need him to be a good waiter. But he wasn't -- at least not to me. He didn't check back on me even once. Never asked if I needed water, more banchan, another beer, never even glanced at me. He passed me multiple times, however, to dote on the other 3 tables that were occupied while I was there. I was the only one he completely ignored. There are three possible explanations that I could come up with, since when I spoke to him he assured me I had not offended him in some way. The first explanation, although unacceptable, isn't sinister. The other two are problematic. 1. I was the only one sitting by myself, and he thought he'd get a bigger tip at the other tables. It's not an ok thing to do: ignoring solo diners. But it happens, and I know everyone's got to make a living. This is the *most* benign explanation I can come up with. Or . . . 2. I was the only non-Asian in the place. 3. I was the only person with a visible disability in the place. I gave the waiter a chance. I calmly and quietly asked him to explain why he had ignored me completely and served the other tables to my exclusion. His answer: "I didn't want to disturb you." No, I didn't buy that either, and I told him so. I'm not quick to jump to conclusions like #2 or #3, but it's not looking good at this point for Kim's BBQ. We've never walked out of a restaurant before, but after waiting 25 minutes with zero service and repeated attempts to get assistance, we finally got up and walked out. Instead, we left feeling ignored and unwelcome. We understand that restaurants can get busy and that mistakes happen. And Korean corn dogs. I love Korean corn dogs. They were kind of a rage for a little bit - but, in recent years, I have not been able to find them as quickly. You could order meat, or cheese, or combination, and you could also have it with potato breading around it. Once they give it to you, you can put ketchup or mustard or sugar crystals as toppings. When I took the first bite, it was crunchy and cheesy, because I ordered the mix with the cheese. So delicious. They give you a beeper so that when you're waiting, you can go browse other things.

I wish there were more rice cakes and more things inside the tteokbokki, but the price was fairly cheap so I suppose that's ok.
