Great lattes and delicious pastries. What more could you ask for? I guess if you are in the lobby of the Modelez Headquarters, you better step your game up. The strawberry and cream croissant is a winner. I don't ever think I've ever had a flakier croissant. It literally exploded all over my table (in a good way). Meanwhile the pumpkin flan gave me the perfect fall bite. They only had one gluten free option available for my friend so just a heads up there. I wanted to stop by this cafe as the interior vibes looked really cool. Unfortunately, the time I went they had an event booked within the next hour so a majority of the seating was blocked off and so it wasn't as comfortable to stay for a longer period of time. I ordered: - Chai latte - Ham & cheese croissant My chai latte was decent, I usually prefer quite a bit more spice though. Looking at older pictures of the menu, I did notice that it's changed from "chai tea" to just "chai" which is a detail I love! For some reason, when they warmed it up, my croissant was still cold in the middle even though the outside was warm. Which was a shame since I really liked the croissant, as there was some kind of whole grain mustard added inside which I really enjoyed. It does get a little busy on the weekends and there may be a small line, but be patient and good coffee is just a few minutes away. Came by on Saturday mid morning and there were a few people in line. We grabbed some seats as a party was leaving, so we were able to enjoy our coffee and croissants there. Ordered a mocha, cappuccino, ham and cheese croissant and classic croissant. The mocha and cappuccino had the milk art and it was almost too pretty to drink. Glad we did drink it, as it was very delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and you can taste the coffee. If you like sweet drinks, this is probably not the place for you. Dude, it was so hard to leave this place lol. Place is too chill. Spacious interior with rustic decor all around. Perfect place to lounge. Oh, yes, about the food and drinks here. I tried I few things: Strawberries & cream croissant: the lady at the counter told me that this was her personal favorite so I just had to try it myself. Wowow. The croissant's surface was flaky and its inside was fluffy. It was jam-packed (pun intended) with strawberry preserves and whipped cream. Reminded me of a strawberry Toaster Strudel but 20x better! I was planning to eat half of it and save the rest for a later time but I pretty much inhaled it in one sitting lol. Pistachio gateaux: wished that there was more of a pistachio flavor to it but the light cream and spongy cake layers were divine. The fresh raspberries were like the cherries on top; brightened the taste of the cake and made all of the different flavors of the cake come together. Lemon poppyseed cake: the cake was a tad dry but I loved how crispy the thin lemon glaze was. The glaze definitely packed the punch in bold lemon tartness. Ham & cheese croissant: geezus, and I thought the croissant of the strawberries & cream one was great. The croissant of this one was AMAZING! Even more delectably flaky (countless amount of croissant layers!) and the inside was as delicately-soft as a dinner roll. Wished that there was more ham inside of the croissant (croissant seemed a bit hollow), but this is a nitpick when accounting for how fantastic the croissant bread was. Matcha tea: ehh I didn't save the best for last. Contrary to how much vibrant green it was, it had very little matcha flavor. Only good for the photo op. Staff was incredibly friendly. I went back to the counter because I wanted to get a ham & cheese croissant for my sister for her to try (I ate this croissant and the pistachio gateaux at the place with the rest of my haul being for to-go). Thought it would be awkward getting served by the same lady at the counter but she was glad that I was buying more lol. Right when I was about to leave the place she hoped that my sister enjoys the croissant. So sweet! We heard of great things about Good Ambler so I was excited to come try some pastries for breakfast. The restaurant is cute and very open, and there was a pretty long line when we got there. I ordered a BLTA and one of their croissant pastries. While the croissant pastry was good, my order was messed up almost twice. After a little bit of a wait, I got my BLTA and sat down to eat it. I was so confused to find just a LTA and had to relook at the menu to make sure the sandwich came with bacon. They had forgotten my bacon so I spoke with the staff and they were very nice about it, saying they would make me another sandwich. I waited about ten minutes and then came back up to wait for my food. All the staff looked confusing as I stood there until I had to ask the cashier about my order. She didn't know what I was talking about and had to talk to a manger, before they then went to make my sandwich that I had already been waiting for. I finally got my BLTA, but at that point, it had taken so long I just wasn't quite in the mood for it anymore. The sandwich was fine, but pricy for what it is. Good Ambler is the perfect spot to get some work done in the heart of the city! The atmosphere was very vibrant and welcoming and it felt like I walked right into a modern hotel lobby. They have a wide variety of pastries to choose from and I ordered the Green Mint Chocolate Croissant and an Iced Americano. The croissant was super flaky and wasn't too sweet with the Mint Chocolate! The Iced Americano was very refreshing and the perfect compliment to the pastry as well. The interior was very spacious and I noticed that there were tons of seating everywhere. There was ample seating options including private sofa spots equipped with outlets and a middle area full of tables. They have plenty of private bathrooms in the back which were super convenient. Keep in mind that the cafe has complimentary Wi-Fi with a 90 minute limit so make sure you join the wifi strategically to your work/study plan. Whoever does Good Amblers marketing deserves a raise! Whoever it is sure knows how to hype up a place. I cannot tell you the amount of Instagram videos and/or articles promoting Good Ambler as one of the best coffee/bakeries in Chicago. I was super disappointed when I actually showed up- staff didn't make any eye contact even though there were 3 of them working there. No one said, " what would you like to order? How can I help you? Do you need a minute?" absolutely nothing. I went around 11 am and the dessert menu was next to non- existent, with only a few croissants and mislabeled desserts. Didn't take a picture because I didn't want to tip off staff that I may be a yelper but thinking about it now in retrospect, they probably wouldn't have noticed anyways because they didn't even acknowledge me!There were plenty of chocolatiers to choose from but I wanted to try out a bakery dish. I went with the double chocolate croissant and only that because I couldn't see any other choices. It wasn't until tonight when I was looking at an IG Good Ambler promotion that I became aware that there is a breakfast menu?!? What?!? No one once mentioned it to me at the cafe. In fact I ordered my croissant (which btw they could have asked, "would you like that warmed up??") and it looked like a 5 star croissant but didn't taste like one just because it wasn't warm. It was crumbs galore on my clothes! Few ways this business could improve: - Amicable staff that actually makes eye contact and welcomes you with some type of joy to be at work. - Engage your customer, don't assume all of your customers are your regulars. I came all the way from Skokie to see why people are raving about your business. Sell me on why your coffee and bakery items are the bomb.com. Make me feel so at home that your business has to start putting a sign that says "tables reserves only for 2 hours" per payer. - overall better business model: how does someone who's never been there know that you have a menu if your staff isn't communicating that and they haven't reviewed Yelp? Do you have to order something from the menu to sit or is it just help yourself? There were no signs and like I said, staff just assumed I knew what to do. Really high quality pastries in a beautiful location! This shop is located in the Fulton Market district and definitely is worth a visit for their delicious freshly made pastries! Some of the standouts include the chocolate croissant and the kounig- amann. The coffee was good too, more on the standard side, but a perfect complement to the yummy pastries! A bonus is that the aesthetic/decor is beautiful and there are plentiful seats/tables to study at. One thing to note is that the nearby paid parking is quite expensive, approximately $4.75 an hour via the Park Chicago app, so if you're planning on staying a few hours to study it might get expensive to pay for parking. There are free parking spots 5-6 blocks out which you may be able to find if you circle around but in the winter it may be too cold to walk. read more

So glad I stopped by while running errands. This is a gem. Parking was an issue - snow and middle of the day with many deliveries in the area. So, we got it to go. The vanilla latte was a much needed nice warm, cozy hug today. Smooth flavor. Not too acidic. Not too sweet. Not overly flowery. Just the right balance of flavor and coffee. And when I finished the drink I was pleasantly surprised to find little black vanilla seeds on the inside of the cup. The pastries were magnificent. Although I do think the chocolate croissant would be better slightly warm. Both were flaky, buttery and delicate. Another amazing coffee shop in Chicago checked off my list! And wow, this a good one. Good Ambler is in the heart of the West Loop just off Fulton Market. The large interior space seems to be shared with another business, but I was too wrapped up by all the pretty pastries and smells of espresso to pay it much mind or catch a name! The space is gorgeous and BIG. Filled with greenery and tons of space to work or grab a coffee with a friend. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'm fairly certain I'd become a regular. There was a line but it went quick. The baked goods all looked phenomenal, so we picked two that intrigued us and had the barista surprise us with a third. The beverage menu is pretty limited, but in a way that says they know good coffee and don't need to hide behind a bunch of flavors and cold foam to taste good (totally guilty of loving those kinds of coffees though). They did have a pumpkin spice special that I tried because ~fall~, and grabbed an iced mocha for my husband and a cold brew for his friend. Our favorite pastry by FAR was the Kouign Amann. Not to say the others weren't amazing, this was just that good. It's kind of like a croissant on steroids and coated in a caramelized shell. If you visit the Good Ambler, you must try this!
