What a great authentic French bakery! Staff super friendly. Cappuccinos were delicious with great foam! Wished it had been served in mugs instead of paper cups. Pastries and sandwich were delicious. Wish I had seen cheese fridge before we ordered, I would have gotten cheese and a baguette. Next time!

What a cute place! They have a lot of great baked goods that are so flaky and fresh. They also have a wide array of breads to choose from and take home. The turkey panini was very delicious for a quick brunch stop. The coffee was meh and it is a little bit more pricey, but with baked goods like that and a very nice staff, I would definitely come back to try more of their baked pastries!

Very cute and busy French bakery! We got the pistachio hazelnut danish - AMAZING! The lemon pound cake was also very lemony and refreshing. We also got a pack of the madeleines, they felt a slight bit dry but tasty still. Coffee was amazing - I got a hot caramel latte. Perfect for the cold weather!

What drew me here was the fact that's it opens at 7 a.m & many people mentioned the fact that have quiche. Said quiche was pretty damn decent &!85 served its purpose. Not the best nor worse. I also indulged in pastries & they were in. Overall I was satisfied with my purchases but to rank it amongst the best in Chicago is a stretch. The chocolate inside the croissant was minuscule to say the least. Prices are on the higher side but again if you need something extremely early this will suffice

best french bakery in the city possibly the country!!!! staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and you can't miss with a single item. i love their pan au chocolate and cheese danish and HAVE to get sourdough loaf everytime i step foot in the door!! it's on the smaller side so i tend to take my items to go but they do have seating so its nice to have the option very warm and inviting

Amazing authentic pastries! We tried 4 and all of them were buttery and not too sweet

Such an authentic French place with great coffee & food! You immediately want to cozy inside and feel like you are in France. The people speak in French and are so friendly. The service was great & just all around a fantastic experience while visiting Chicago!

Delicious chocolate croissants! Not much seating inside so if you come in the winter keep this in mind.

Visiting Chicago for the weekend and was on the hunt for breakfast when I walked by this place in Old Town. I figured I'd just get a croissant since it is a French Bakery! As i was deciding between a plain croissant or a sandwich, one of the male employees came to assist me to which I learned I couldn't get a sandwich as I don't eat ham or cheese :( The croissant I purchased was warm, buttery (guilty pleasure here and there) and flaky. Perfect snack until lunch. The place had a few small families and couples at the table giving it a cozy vibe. I'm glad i popped in today.

I'm so happy to have found a proper French bakery in Chicago finally! Staff is super friendly, and everyone is greeted with "bonjour" walking in the door. Ils parlent Français! Classic pastry items are all very delicious, croissant, pain du chocolat, almond croissant...etc. They have a good selection of delicious breads, too. During mardi gras season, they have galette des rois!!! You can pick up items to go or eat in. There are several small tables to enjoy your food and drinks inside! This is now my go-to bakery!

A spot in Old Town Chicago featuring French/European baked goods and cafe-style foods. They sell many different kinds of hearty rustic bread, such as their multigrain and sourdough. Besides, they sell pastries and other bread, such as croissant and brioche. Their sourdough was good, but I did not try their pastries. For breakfast, I tried the Quiche veggie and Croque Monsieur. In general satisfactory; especially considering the total price. The Quiche was speical to me in that it was a rectangular-shape and had zucchini inside -- never had zucchini in quiche before but I would say it went well with the eggs. I enjoyed the quiche very much. Their Croque Monsieur was not bad either but a little too saily for me, perhaps due to the ham. Despite this, I really like the gooey cheese inside and bechamel sauce topped on the bread! As the sandwich was about 60% cheaper than what sold in Venteux Brasserie, there is really not much to complain about. Another highlight was that the restaurant was counter-service and no tip was required! Besides, food was served quickly.

What is the average wait time for seating on weekends?

30 minutes to get food on a Saturday. Limited seating so probably plan to take it to go.

Do they have Wifi, and is this place good for working?

Not sure. Call and ask.

Al's Classic Hand-Cut Fries: They were piping hot when I received them, so touching! Super friendly lady at the cashier (all smiles, patient, and offered menu help)! Also fast service (got my order within a few minutes). I visited on a Saturday late afternoon and it was very chill here (also shoutout to the early 2000's era music playing :p it was a vibe). Overall I'd say it's not a bad food spot at all if you want a quick bite and want to be a little away from the Magnificent Mile crowds.

It definitely feeds at least a party of 4, but there were only two of us so we took the rest to go. It's seasoned well and had a nice, satisfying crunch in every bite. For the star of the meal we had the tavern style carbonara pizza. Absolute cinema. We added hot honey on top (though it was $3 for about a 2oz bottle) and the flavors all came together perfectly!! I didn't think we'd be finishing it but I was dead wrong. Since they are tavern cut they went down fast like chips, but needless to say I ate 3/4 of it and enjoyed every bite. Service: The host was amazing, we arrived about 15 minutes early but they were glad to seat us and we appreciated that. Ambiance: It was a little cold in there where we were sitting, so it made our food get cold a little quickly, but like I said it was still good regardless. The AC was blowing directly at our table and we got cold as well so maybe bring a jacket. Overall great restaurant, I would come back again to try the other pizzas and items!

Great lunch/breakfast spot with fast service and simple/fresh sandwiches…read more The oven roasted turkey sandwich was great, tasted like something my grandma would make me (in a good way). Will be back.

I really want to like them so much more than I do. If there were a continuum from hipster deli…read more(think Mile End) to traditional deli (Manny's, 2nd Avenue, etc) Schneider would on the hipster side of center. Two of us shared a half pound pastrami on rye with a side of hash browns. The rye was pretty decent but the pastrami was sliced far too thick and the meat was lean. That is not a good thing when it comes to pastrami and I attribute the lean meat to the deli catering to its hipster-ish audience. Although the flavor was decent, the sandwich was dry and difficult to eat. We disagreed on the generously sized pickle. One of us thought the flavor was just right, the other not so much. We both agreed on the hash browns. It's a no-go. They were well fried but entirely unseasoned. I understand the lack of schmaltz but there was no onion or salt or anything else. Waffle House has nothing to worry about. (IYKYK) Service was fast and polite. The space is tiny, but it works. Prices are okay for this area but if you want traditional deli in Chicago, go to Manny's.
