The JIG is up & South Carolina wings

Stopped by while passing thru and lucked up on the HH menu: The JIG is UP ($8) - so good! The sweet Carolina wings smack (1/2 portion $8= 5 wings) but will have you dipping the carrots in the sauce mmmkay. Also espresso Martini is on HH ($8) so YUMMY & you can actually taste the espresso aspect- bitter & not overly sweet. Get the HOT HONEY CHICKEN Sandwich!!! Bartender name was Serena and she was a tolerant but unapologetic vibe if that makes sense? (a lot of times ppl forget their manners once inebriated*=tolerance).but genuine thru and thru. Ask her about HER espresso martini made with tequila - you WILL not be disappointed. I asked about the history of the venue and they literally have a book- go figure. Owner was actively buzzing around and dropping plates and bussin tables- love that. Will absolutely return the next time I'm passing by or returning to the area. Comfortable atmosphere and a collective aesthetic.

I'm obsessed with Suttons. I've even tried to copy the aesthetic for my home. The place is a celebration of industrial Kensington. The atmosphere is often great though it has a reputation for being a little dead. The servers are special. JawnyQ quizzo on Wednesday nights is an go to. I'm not wowed by the food but the food is pretty good.

We wanted to try something new so drove in and met up with a friend for happy hour. But then I found out they didn't have happy hour on Mondays and it was a limited menu for pastas. It worked out since I love pasta (the flight was good). The vibe there was really nice and comfortable. The bartender was nice and helpful. I'd like to try visiting again when their normal menu is out.

Chill local bar with a good selection of beers on tap. Birria tacos were on point, so stuffed and flavorful with lots of dip. Loved their fries and corn as well. Wasn't very full when we came on a Wednesday night, the staff were really attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back!

    Chicken tinga burrito

I've been to Sutton's a few times now and it really is a great neighborhood spot Solid food and drinks and always good service. My last time there we happened to go on Taco Tuesday and we were pleasantly surprised with the burrito (chicken tinga) and birria tacos. We also got the burger, wings, and the potato/parsnip fritters I haven't had a bad thing yet

Garlic parmesan wings, tasted good but small wings.

Good atmosphere, the bartender was great, engaging and friendly, the service was good, the food was good but the wings were to small for the high price we paid, overall I would return but not for the wings,if you do get the wings make sure you get the sweet Carolina sauce on them, it tasted great.

Cool spot that wasn't too packed on a Friday night, we snuck in right before happy hour ended where they had $8 single margaritas and $20 pitchers and opted for a mango margarita pitcher which was delicious! The birria tacos were amazing. The service was a little slow considering that it wasn't too busy, but not that big of a deal since my friend and I were chatting a bunch.

The bartender who kinda looks like Timothy Olyphant. 10 out of 10 for me.

The food is ok. Just ok gives a 4 star for me. I wish it was a bit more flavorful. It is there but then it misses. Server was great and attentive. But the WINGS that's what I suggest. Fried hard with sauce on side. Wings and drinks. They have a healthy pour and you will love the combos. I'd return for the WINGS and drinks. Burger was just ok. The fries were tasty. Chill place, seems like a bunch of locals are constants. The tacos needed a bit more flavor. Especially a birria taco. Even dipping it didn't add flavor. Mines are better. They were out of a few things and menu was changing the next day so perhaps perhaps that's why they were off. I'd go back for the WINGS and Oaxaca old fashion. Yes please!

    Is it kid/family friendly?

Not sure I'd say it's kid friendly. It's a relatively small and narrow space, with a pretty quiet vibe - not much in terms of child friendly areas. The servers and waitstaff seemed super friendly, so I'm sure nobody would be turned away!

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Each stall is a room with a small uand sink. Bar choices were a little limited for whiskeys. They had couple interesting ones though that you don't normally see. We had the cheesesteak egg rolls and mozzarella bricks to start. They were both very good. Our main courses were the duck, filet, New York strip, and a burger. My wife never finishes her filet. They forgot the Bernaise that she ordered but sent out a fresh bowl fairly quickly. She ate the whole filet and loved the Bernaise. My daughter ate almost the entire strip and loved it. My son inhaled the burger which they added bacon and bbq sauce to for him. My duck was cooked perfectly and I got fries instead of the mashed potatoes. The fries were good and a welcome choice since the mashed potatoes have garlic in them which I can't eat. Admittedly we didn't get dessert there since Franklin Fountain is around the corner. Our meal was excellent. Just good food prepared well without a bunch of excess ingredients covering the flavors of the main dish. We get so tired of ordering food and having to ask that half of the ingredients are left off. This was a nice and welcome change to be able to order dinner cooked to the temperatures we wanted without worrying about all the other additions. We will definitely go back. We did arrive early on a Sat evening and there was only one other person at the bar when we arrived. She eventually left and only one other couple came in while we were there. I think the extreme cold weather that day was not helping. Place was nice inside and everyone we interacted with was very nice. We were well taken care of throughout our meal. My son enjoyed the chicken parm and I enjoyed my lamb bolognese. My wife, who is gluten free, went the crab cake. She said it was good but she would have liked to have seen an option for a GF pasta or crust for their pizzas as well as GF bread for their burgers and sandwiches. She ordered unsweetened tea, which oddly they were out of. It was kind of cold inside, but again, that may have something to do with just how cold it was outside. Portion sizes were large and both my son and I brought home leftovers. For dessert, we shared the cannoli cake. It was good but a bit on the dry side. The experience was decidedly mixed, though I would definitely give it another shot. Atmosphere 5/5 First off, the space is beautiful. There are two floors, with a dining area downstairs, and a bar and a very large space for more dining upstairs. You can tell that this upstairs area is open-air during the warmer months, and would seem like an even better atmosphere to dine in. Aside from being spacious, the space is nicely decorated and comfortable. Food 4/5 Upon first glance, the menu has a wide variety of tempting options, from handhelds to steak, chicken, and shortrib, to all sorts of wood-fired pizzas, which the waiter told us was their specialty. My dining partner and I opted to share the Whipped Ricotta with flatbread and honey for an appetizer. Delish! For the main course, we both ordered the gnocchi with roasted eggplant, scallions, and parmesan. We were told that the gnocchi is house-made, which helped in our decision. In the end, the dish was tasty, but a bit too doughy. Service 3/5 The service at Revolution House is the reason for the overall rating of 3. Unfortunately, we waited a long time for everything, from our drinks to the food and even the check. It wasn't until the very end that the waiter explained that they were shorthanded, but by that time, we were a little frustrated to say the least As I alluded to earlier, the menu and the atmosphere was enough for me to be willing to try Revolution House again and hopefully next time the experience will be better.
