Place was pleasant and very easy to get extra dipping sauce. We got the seafood pancake. Didn't enjoy as much as plain scallion pancake. The dipping sauce was sweet. Loved that much more than the hot sauce. The shrimp was delicious I didn't care for the octopus in it as much. The store is well laid out. We found everything we wanted to buy. I don't live in the area, but whenever I visit Richmond, I know the gluten-free options are endless. I wanted to visit a store that I've seen some other gf creators post. I had in mind two particular items: the lemon tate cookies and the Schar puff pastry. I found both and more! I felt so happy in the store I was dancing. The employees are very kind and nice. I bought about 5 items and it was about $30 which was to be expected. I'd love to be able to come back and buy some more items that I can't find in stores near me. read more

Place is cool but the hot bar is a bit of a joke cooks standing around playing on their phones while barely anything on the bar and what is on the bar is burned and unappetizing definitely wouldn't fly in my kitchen . selection and pricing you are better off with Whole Foods. read more

I stopped in Good Foods Grocery yesterday to pick up a few items. Whilst there I encountered Tyler stocking shelves in the crackers and cookies aisle. He was so polite and pleasant to talk to. As I finished my shopping shortly thereafter, I checked out at Ben's cash register. He was also very nice ! I found Morgan (who is wonderful) stocking goods near the refrigerated section and told her how nice these two young people were today. I may have to shop there more frequently!!! Good Foods Grocery is a great alternative to those big chain grocers. I come here for my organic foods and local dairy, fruit and veggies. The bulk foods are priced right! And yes, the chocolates and goodie section offers healthier choices for your sweet tooth. Today I'm here getting almond flour which I can't find at the mainstream stores. This is a fab place to get your herbs for spring planting too! I love the aisles of essential oils, the vitamins and the other healthy supplements. I'm a fan of the Super Cleanse which I do about once or twice a year. The prices are a tad high, but you get what you pay for. Wow! I am so impressed with this little grocery store. I found it when searching for a particular brand of dairy free ice cream, and while they didn't have that I walked away with so many other items that I either couldn't find or couldn't afford in other stores. It has so much variety without the exorbitant prices or pretentious atmosphere that seem to come with many other health conscious grocers. The store is separated into two sections, one with cash registers and the others with a food service counter and a seating area both inside and outside. The first section has has produce, bulk foods, household items like soap and toilet paper, vitamins and supplements, salad dressings and oils, and miscellaneous items like incense. The second section has all other food products: snacks, beverages, breads, cheeses, frozen foods, condiments, etc. I needed assistance getting something out of a locked case to view the ingredients, and a cashier was very nice and happy to help. If you're looking for gluten free, dairy alternatives, vegan, vegetarian, or organic products, I would recommend this as one of the first places you look. read more

Good Foods Grocery is pretty great! Went here over the weekend with my family and we were one of the only people shopping at the time. It was a stark contrast from Kroger, which we went to afterward, and was shoulder to shoulder packed. The layout is just a *little* confusing, but that could be because it was my first time. This being a small store, you're probably not going to find everything you need. I did a couple of price comparisons and, as expected, some things were much higher. What surprised me, is that some items were actually far cheaper here than at Kroger. So, it's a toss up, and it probably all evens out in the end. The best part about Good Foods is that you know you are getting high quality, local produce and carefully selected items for all types of diets. read more

We stopped here and got fresh green juice, beet juice, carrot ginger soup, vegetable soup, sparkling water, fresh fruits, salads, medicinal teas. A life saver! This place is best described as Ellwood Thompson's without the social justice and lifestyle bent. Good Foods is always a peaceful shopping experience for me. Whatever your dietary needs are, can be met here. I really love the locally sourced veggies and the expansive bulk food selection. I go through extra fine almond flour like nobody's business with all my keto baking. GFG has the best selection of keto friendly snacks like smart cakes, dairy free plant based yogurts and smart buns. I go nuts for every Zevia flavored soda under the sun. Normally I'd have to order and pay for shipping with most things keto but GFG takes care of that for you. The store is well stocked and navigable. People want to help you here, which is nothing short of delightful. Whoever the buyer is for the store makes thoughtful decisions, which I appreciate. The only area that would make this a 5 star is the prepared food counter. There are limited ketogenic prepared food options to enjoy in their cozy dining area but what is available is nothing short of delicious. read more

Freshly made breakfast with organic eggs. Great menu from organic smoothies and juices to quiche, Huevo ranchero, sausage and egg plate, pastries, and coffees. Store overall is small but packed with great foods that are organic and/or made from minimal ingredients. I thought my wife had found every grocery shopping option in Richmond but she missed this little gem. This will be my go-to breakfast site when near Stint Point Road. You'll find mostly packaged goods, supplements and protein powders, but there's also some frozen and refrigerated goods and a small selection of organic produce. I particularly like the bulk bins here. There's a huge row of 'em filled with all kinds of nuts, granolas, cookies, grains and other good stuff. I also like the staff. Everyone is friendly and very willing to help. Good Foods Grocery also welcomes product requests, so if there's something you wish they'd carry, feel free to ask. Good Foods Grocery used to be the only place in Richmond to find natural and organic foods. That being said, they haven't changed a lot over the years, which can be both a good and bad thing. The selection at the store is small but varied ( I can find items here that Whole Foods and Ellwood Thompson's don't stock), their bulk section is AWESOME, and they have added a little cafe that serves local coffee and warm sandwiches. Unfortunately, there are also some glaring problems. While they have good sales, most of their product is considerably more expensive than other stores in the area. Their produce selection has always been small, which is surprising since they recently expanded and remodeled the store. Finally, the biggest issue I have - the staff. They are some of the most apathetic, unengaging people I have ever seen. You are never welcomed as you walk into the store, and the cash registers face the entrance. The store is rarely packed, so how difficult would it be to acknowledge a customer who is coming in to your store? It is also nearly impossible to get someone to help you find an item or ring you up if there isn't actually a cashier waiting at the register. Good Foods - unfortunately, you aren't the only game in town anymore. I like buying local, but you need to step it up! read more

You can't just find good food anywhere, so why not go with the obvious. I like this place. The store has a great feel when you come in, with a huge variety of groceries to choose from. The bulk section is so bulky you cannot help but to immediately acknowledge it's presence and make your way over to it's magnificence. They carry just about everything organic and local, from big box venders like Nature's Path to your neighborhood farmer Joe. After you venture through the maddening medicinal and craft soda section, which I really appreciate, you get sight of the coffee/sandwich bar that has hot and cold options. I ordered a BBQ Tempeh wrap today and annihilated it in seconds. It was full of diced tomatoes, lettuce and other goodies, exactly what I needed for proper sustenance. The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable about their products and helped me to get fully satiated. Good Foods is certainly good stuff to stuff into your food-hole. read more

The prepared foods are consistently fresh and tasty. The roasted veggie's by themselves or on a wrap are my favorite. The vegan selection in the deli is small but the foods and deserts they do have are better than restaurant quality in my opinion. Great for those nights when I don't want to cook but still want healthy food in a hurry. And they have a great variety in the bulk section. My only complaint is I feel the staff follows me through the store or hovers. Maybe watching for shoplifting. read more

My mother has been shopping here since I was rather smaller than I am now and I have fond memories of occasionally stopping in for lunch when they were still a tiny little store front next to [the now moved] Alchemists. The bulk section has always been top quality and there's a lot of things you can get there [almond flour in particular springs to mind] for way less than you can in packages. The produce is also pretty decent, but there's been a few things I went looking for that they didn't have any longer and wouldn't order and I'm afraid their prepared food section doesn't really hold up half as well as I would like- I've had several things from there that turned out to be rather less inspiring than hoped. I will continue to patronize them, particularly for bulk when I need quinoa and rye flour and stuff, but it's not a place I stop in on a whim- I suspect the lack of a massive cheese counter or a wine section contributes to this. read more

I visited the Good Foods Grocery near my home for the first time and I must say I was excited, but my excitement quickly changed. I entered the store and was not greeted. I passed several associates as I browsed and no one budged. I finally asked a lady at the register where I could find an item and she lackadaisically pointed me where I needed to look, as to say duh it's right there, as she pointed to the opposite side of where I should have searched. I found my item and continued to browse. I finally went to purchase my item and the ill-interested associate came to the register and asked how she could assist me, clearly I wanted to purchase something. I handed her my item that was in plain sight and she asked if I was a value customer, I stated no, and she continued with the checkout. As I began to ask of what she spoke she interrupted me and told me what I needed to do to process my transaction and greeted a lady who had just entered and was obviously a regular to the store as she called her by name, and the patron who waited behind me in line. She then handed me the receipt and tried to place the purchased item on the counter but I held my hand out to receive it, said thank you without response and exited the store. As I entered my car I thought to return the item, as I do not appreciate the customer service or lack thereof, but chose to share my experience and keep the item that I have been in search of for the last few days. On a greater note, and the reason for at least a 3 star rating, the store is absolutely amazing and a "good food junky's" dream. I would have loved to use this as my "go to" for all my good food needs, but wouldn't look forward to the treatment. I may try again one day, as this may have been a bad day for them, but not today. Have always patronized this local southside grocery. They were ahead of the curve on natural and organic...and I appreciate it. We are lucky to have so many choices now; however, I prefer to patronize and use my dollars to support local businesses. Since I have been using the Gayton store, I was pleasantly surprised at the expanded Stoney Point market. I have always been welcomed and asked if I needed help. I found the comments by the bi-racial couple unfounded. They are not unique here and if they didn't feel welcomed it definitely was an off day for someone! Just wanted to say that Good Foods Grocery rocks. Have been shopping there for years. Staff is knowledgeable & friendly & if they don't know something, they will find out for you. One of the cashiers caught that i had not redeemed my points using my GFG card, & i ended up with a $50 gift certificate to the store. That was way cool. I really like it now that they have remodeled the stony point store because we live in such close proximity & it is so convenient.
