I stopped by Good Fortune and got the ube lemonade and the honey butter wings. The ube lemonade was so sweet and delicious. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but it definitely grew on me with every sip. The honey butter wings were super crispy and packed with flavor. One of these days I'll actually try the ramen since I've heard so many good things about it. The service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant itself is small, cozy, and really cute. I'll definitely be back.
About 2 weeks after my first visit, and I will make this a destination on EVERY visit to Memphis.
Came to celebrate my birthday and my two besties birthdays. All of our bdays are in April. So much fun to celebrate . I have been here multiple times and enjoyed all the menu items I have tried. I love the chicken wings. They are fried well and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the rice bowl this time. It was good but not my fav dish. The dumplings were tasty too. Service was very good. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Decor is very unique and pleasant to admire. I will return to get those chicken wings for sure.
My sister and I are like, "let's try this place." (Proceeds to eat best meal at a famous Memphis restaurant.) Were we lucky? Probably. Did we have good fortune? All signs point to Yes. Simply put: ramen is an underrated food. When it's classed up and prepared appropriately, you'll say, "THIS is ramen?!" And I'd say, "Welcome to Ramen Lovers, table for eternity?" At Good Fortune, order the wings and get you some ramen. You'll be treated with grace and kindness. Get in line to wait. It's worth it. Do.not.leave.without.ordering.wings.
This was our first meal in Memphis. I really wanted to try their wings and ramen. The wings stood out the most. The sauce was great and I love the spicy kick to it. The ramen was good and flavorful. Dessert was good too! Lots of parking on the street!
This place is quaint yet it packs a flavor in the food. The chicken wings were delicious and full of flavor. They were crispy too. I had the chicken rice bowl and it was everything I needed. The chicken was tender and the sauce on top blended perfectly. I had the cold mango sake for drink and it was delicious. I sat bar top and the service was quick and attentive.
Good Fortune was an interesting place we wanted to try after seeing it on "The Great Food Truck Race". They opened at 4PM which we waited in line for them to open, got a table immediately and they filled up quickly. The staff were very nice and attentive. Atmosphere was great, but once the dinning room fills up and the music playing it's gets a little difficult to have conversation. Onto the food. The biggest disappointment was the one thing we wanted to try "Slap Noodles" they do not have on the menu. We were told it was due to having a small kitchen. The best items were the GFC wings and the crawfish dumplings which were both full of flavor and crispy crunch that is hard to find. My wife got the chicken rice bowl which was mediocre with not much flavor and the chicken was dry. I got the Classic Mane noodles, my daughter got the Big City noodles and my son got the Spicy Pork noodles. The homemade noodles were probably the best part where the rest was pretty bland and tasted similar. All in all I would definitely go back and try some others but mainly for the wings!!
This was my first time trying Good Fortune and I'm so glad I did!! They're always packed, but it was nice to finally experience what I've heard so much about. The food was delicious!! My ramen & the honey wings were perfectly prepared. The environment is upbeat with a nice music selection and the low hum of conversations. The dining area is small though so be prepared to be close to your neighbors. Overall, the food and service are great so it's worth the visit. Note: parking is limited on busy evenings and weekends because there's only street parking since they're located off of Main Street Downtown.
We enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The dumpling appetizer was very good, as were the chicken wings. The crunch on the wings was...*chef's kiss.* They have a choice of Japanese whiskeys, which I've never tried, so I had the Old Fortune which is an Old Fashion with one of the aforementioned Japanese whiskeys. The ramen itself was excellent, with delicious broth and ingredients. The noodles are noticeably better than other ramen we've had at other places. It was worth the drive downtown to eat here, so if you're staying downtown you're in a great position to have a really nice meal.
If you find yourself in downtown, this place is a must try. As someone who came from the west coast, this is some, if not the best Asian food I've had since relocating to Tennessee. All of the dishes are expertly crafted with fresh ingredients and combine such unique flavors together. Everything I had was genuinely outstanding, my favorite being the tofu and I cannot wait to come back here.
They had a pop up this past weekend at The Liquor Store Restaurant and I was able to go! After their participation in The Great Food Truck Race everyone was so excited for the Slap Noodles. Due to it being a pop up there was a bit of a wait but everyone was so nice from the bartender to the guy slapping the noodles were nice! It was my 1st time in The Liquor Store but I'll be back. It was a very cool laid back vibe. I ordered The Beef Noodles and the Wings. The noodles were very tender and tasty and the beef had a nice flavor. The wings were delicious, covered in a sauce that made you look at it twice. Be on the lookout for the next one and get there early.
I feel like every time I go out of town, we have to try a local Asian spot. Good Fortune was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It was crowded but luckily we did manage to get one of the last available tables. Our waitress was great. She was very attentive. I ordered the dumplings and my husband ordered the chicken and rice bowl. We loved the food. The dumplings had a chili oil on them so there was a spicy kick. I appreciate how attention to detail the restaurant is. There were about 7 dumplings on my plate and the waitress came back and said "we owe you one more" and they brought a fresh one for me. It was a nice gesture where if they didn't tell me about it, I probably would not have noticed. The star of the show was the Taiyaki. We saw photos on Yelp and knew we were going to order it. They change the flavor periodically. When we were there, the flavor was apple pie. It has caramel ice cream, apple pie filling and of course the Taiyaki pastry. It was the best ice cream I had. The portion was huge so I was not able to finish it. The prices were very fair for what you get. 2 entrees and 2 desserts came up to around 50 dollars. In this day and age, it's not a bad deal. If you need a break from the typical Memphis tourist spots, go to Good Fortune!
We were lucky to get a seat at the bar on a busy Wednesday night. There are great small plates for sharing, and we tried the potato dumplings, charred edamame, impossible meat dumplings, and the rolls. All were great. Our bartender recommended my Bruce Lychee cocktail which was so refreshing and the perfect tart compliment to the food.

My friend really likes this place so she got me to come with her. I was also glad they had alcohol-free drinks which were still really cool. I loved the nerdy names for them, like Uncle Iroh and one that referenced Sailor Moon. I didn't realize the noods were ramen until I looked at pictures but I got really excited about it once I did because I love ramen. There aren't a lot of options but everything seemed pretty great. The wings are good, the 20 percent gratuity is pretty annoying given that the service is ok at best for dine in and carry out. They also charge 1.29 for side of sauce, so of course I looked at the guy stupid since he thought I'd let him get away for giving me less than half. Luckily the girl who took my order gave me one actually filled. If you're gonna nickel and dime ppl, don't cut corners. This meal far exceeded expectations! On our first visit to Memphis we had the "Good Fortune" of finding this lovely little dining delight on Main Street. Matthew helped us choose a gluten free meal with ease. The GFC wings were spicy, sweet and crispy. We also enjoyed a side of cukes in a tasty sesame dressing and the satisfying chicken and rice main course. Cheers all around! Stopped by this quaint place on Main st!! The menu is stuffed with classics like pork wontons and shrimp and chive dumplings. For noodle dishes, chicken is the main protein. But, to cater to more diners, there are vegan versions of most dishes. Everything is made by hand!!! I am not that hungry, so I got the GFC wings - Sichuan honey butter, scallion and sesame . . . And shrimp dumplings - water chestnut, ginger and chili to nibble on!! I ate ALL of it, so I guess I am hungry!! It was delicious. The food is really good and for a reasonable price. Really cool atmosphere with the murals and decorations, and feels like fine-casual. The servers are friendly, but it is a small space so it's not somewhere you should expect to spend hours. Lots to do in the neighborhood too; we like going for an early dinner and then enjoying the rest of what downtown has to offer. read more

This place did not disappoint. We tried many things- the port dumplings, crawfish, dumplings, tofu bites, spring rolls, the chicken noodle dish and the coco curry Ramen. Everything was very delicious and the server was very nice. The food came out quickly and hot. And the specialty drinks were unique and tasty. My friend got the saki flight and loved it. I highly recommend this restaurant but they do not take reservations so go early or be prepared to wait for a seat but it's worth it. read more

I'm rounding up. 4.5 for me. Almost perfect. The taro fries struggled in the flavor dept but the kimchi mayo is god. I didn't accidentally omit an O. The rest. Man. Legit good stuff. The wings are amazingly crunchy and sweet with this very minor kick. The shrimp dumplings were too damn good. We'll be back to try the noods and baby don. The ambiance is great. It's a solid little addition to downtown. I'd love an expansion on the dumplings though. It would be a great stop before Tigers games to just pound dumplings and sake. I'm a bit torn writing this review cause I so wanted to like this place! The interior and decors are so cute and have a really cozy, trendy vibe. I loved the red lanterns on the patio and the beautiful Sailor Moon themed wall mural. Our server was friendly and the overall experience was decent. The only letdown was the food. We came here on a Friday evening and waited for about 20 mins before we were seated. While we were waiting I got a Bruce Lychee martini and it was super delish! Just the right amount of sweetness. We ordered the Taro fries, GFC chicken wings, and Shrimp & chive dumplings. The taro fries were okay, not bad, but nothing extraordinary either. I did like the sauce it came with and wish they give more of it. The dumplings were a no for me, they needed a lot more salt. The filing was way too bland. I did really like the chicken wings though! They were crispy and tender and I loved the sweet flavor, almost reminded me of Bon Chon's Korean fried chicken. Now the main event - I got the Tan Tan and my boyfriend got the Big City. Sigh, what a letdown. First of all, the portion size was really small, especially for $15. The broth was lacking flavor. The noodles were too firm and did not have that bounce and chewiness I love. I expected more. My bf liked the flavor of his broth but not the noodles either. Overall not a bad experience but not a great one either. The food was delicious, but the portions were small for the price point. I think they could have added a little more to the ramen. The big city was filled with flavors and a really good compliant to the ingredients in the bowl The Spicy pork was flavorful, but could have used a little more heat. In the bowl there was juicy/ fall apart pork. My only complaint was there was a shell in the ramen. The service was great, Hope was very attentive and so sweet! My visit to Good Fortune was an exceptional experience. I wholeheartedly savored the delectable dishes, including homemade fresh dumplings and noodles. The service, led by our attentive server Lilly, was prompt and courteous. If you find yourself in Memphis, I highly recommend adding Good Fortune to your list of must-visit culinary destinations. For a more detailed account: - Service: From seating to serving, every aspect of our experience took less than five minutes. Our server, Lilly, was not only prompt but also exceptionally friendly. - Food: As a pescatarian, I ordered the Tan Tan, Impossible Dumplings, and Crawfish Dumplings. The Tan Tan, in particular, deserves special praise; its broth was simply phenomenal, making it the best vegetarian-based ramen I've ever had. The Impossible Dumplings were a delightful revelation, and I believe they should be a menu staple everywhere. While the Crawfish Dumplings didn't quite meet my expectations for a Creole flavor, they surprised me with a predominant cream cheese flavor. Went to Good Fortune for the first time and was impressed by the good food and drinks. We had chickens wings and beef dumplings. Highly recommend the wings, but not the dumplings. Dumplings should be the downside of this place, or maybe we should have not ordered the beef one. Drinks are good, and Ice cream is definitely on point. Service is great as well. Quick and friendly. So happy to make another visit to this local restaurant! When we walked in early on a Friday evening, there was no wait to be seated, but as we were dining, more and more customers walked in and the place was buzzing by the time we were finished with dinner! What we got: - ground impossible rolls: crispy rolls with impossible "ground beef" inside - cut into bite-sized pieces and easily shareable! Comes with ponzu sauce. Great appetizer, recommended by our waiter Rory. - pork dumplings: excellent flavor - slightly spicy but in just the right amount. Soft interior. The chili crisp on top makes for excellent crunch factor! - coco curry noodles: This place is well-known for their noodles, so we had to try one out. Lovely coconut broth - smooth, spicy and sweet. Also has fried tofu and Thai basil leaves. - Mexican hot chocolate taiyaki: Chocolate-vanilla swirl with crunchy cinnamon sugar, pocky, and roasted marshmallow! Need I say more? Traveling for work and this place came recommended. Everything is made in house fresh. Ordered the Big City noods, pork dumplings, and wings. I passed on the corn and menma in the Big City but the chicken was perfectly crispy and the noodles were great. The chicken wings were also a pleasant surprise. Would highly recommend. This place is definitely a Memphis Food Gem! The food was absolutely delightful and so fresh, definitely a needed break from the typical city food. I would recommend the spicy pork ramen and substitute the meat if you don't eat pork. The spice level was perfect enough to still be able and enjoy the food. The impossible beef dumpling's definitely stole the show for me though! I usually have to pass on dumplings because I'm not a pork or shrimp eater so I was ecstatic that they offered a meat alternative. This restaurant is cute as can be, with an ample sized outdoor patio. The environment is inclusive of all, and certainly Instagram worthy as well. The selection of ramens is rather small, but the ones they do they do very well. I highly recommend the curry coconut soup. My husband highly recommends the fungi ramen. Their kimchi is not as spicy as some, but still spicy enough to reheat your tongue as you eat your soup. They have a wonderful beer selection including Taj Mahal from India, which is an extra large beer that we love. For dessert, don't forget the taiyaki, a soft serve ice cream in a fish-shaped hollow flavors change every month, and you can get one of two or a swirl. They also come with a couple sticks of pocky! If your child or teenager is into anime or anything Japanese, they will absolutely love this dessert. Flavors include things like Thai tea, matcha, vanilla, chai, or cinnamon toast crunch, and change each month. I have gone twice now, once on a double date and once with my son prior to a show at the Orpheum. I would go again and again honestly for the environment and welcoming staff. Parking is free on Sundays, and street parking is always cheaper than the Orpheum or MLGW parking lots, so eat here first and walk the three blocks down to the Orpheum and save yourself 10 bucks. Also, worth note is that there is a 20% tip already included on your bill. So you don't have to add if you don't want to. There is a sign at the host stand, but it's nice to have a reminder. read more

Yum yum yum! If you're able to grab a seat here, do it! The fried chicken is a hit and the drinks as well. We decided to stop in somewhat randomly one day and we were lucky enough to snag patio seats. The menu is a little limited but if you enjoy this type of food you'll love it. Great service and conveniently located downtown. Parking may be a hassle if you don't live nearby or can't find a spot out front. read more
