So yummy, but not consistent. We have ordered several times now. The first time, the general peony's chicken and spicy dumplings were not spicy at all. We suggested that meal to our friends because they don't like spice. When they got it, it was super spicy. I've moved my order to the sizzling chicken, and it is fantastic. I really love this place, but I hope they can get their flavors consistent.

Little Petals hits the spot with better than average Chinese favorites. The space at this location is laid out well, with bright decor and good seating. The portions are generous in the bento boxes. I chose their version of General Tso's chicken. It was good with nice spice, but a little dense. One or two of the batter pieces had no chicken inside. The rice and spring roll were perfect. Service is friendly, and there were repeat customers around recommending what they love. That's always a good sign.

Black Pepper Chicken Bento $13.50ish - delicious & a great value. Comes w/ your choice of side & spring and/or egg roll.

Memphis might be on to something! After a 6.5 hour drive from Dallas, we get to Memphis and I am longing for Chinese food. I haven't had the best of luck with Chinese food in Memphis so I did everything I could to suppress this unwanted craving, however, I just couldn't help myself. Little Petals pops up on Yelp as a possibility. I read the reviews and scrolled through the pictures. After looking at the location, I realized it was only an 8-minute drive from where we were. Why not, right? The restaurant is easy to miss. It sits right on the corner in an old shanty building nestled in the middle of downtown Memphis. The furniture and décor were of a standard Chinese eatery, nothing special; but the employees were warm and welcoming, greeting me with hellos and smiles. I got the black pepper chicken that came with a spring roll. I ordered an extra side of pork egg rolls because that's usually my go to. Everything was fantastic! It gives you the taste of that old school Chinese food you used to have as a kid, but better quality. The chicken was moist, flavorful and peppery. The egg rolls had the perfect amount of crispy crunch---they seemed handmade as well! Pricing is a little higher from when I was a kid, but you still won't break the bank here! As I started to think that great Chinese food was not an option for Memphis, Little Petals showed up at the right time and made me a believer!

Not what was shown as Black Pepper Chicken!

Fried little pieces of a mix of peony Tao chicken. Mixed taste of that and black pepper. So sad. Nothing like what I expected or another picture in yelp.

My egg roll was brunt and my egg drop soup had no flavor. The beef with broccoli and low mien where just ok. Didn't like the garlic cucumbers.. Have to go back to try different things.

Cute, clean and delicious Chinese food. The food came out very quickly and it was very tasty and portions were generous. We had spicy crispy chicken, hot and sour soup (large) and cucumber salad. Plenty for 2 people. Cucumbers were a nice contrast with the spicy chicken. I kind of wished the chicken had sauce on it to give something for the rice to soak up, but the flavor was great. Will be back!

The food here is absolutely amazing!! We had the Spicy Crispy Chicken with Fried Rice and a Peony Chicken Bento Box with Lo Mein Noodles. The service was excellent and everyone was very polite and friendly! This is such a cozy place with great food. We will definitely be back soon.

Peony chicken with fried rice. Really tasty and great wok hei on the fried rice.

I ordered the Bento box to go. I got the fried rice with the peony chicken. I was impressed when I first picked the box up with how heavy it was. They give a lot of food so it's great value for $10. I've been to the other location so I wasn't worried about whether the food would taste good as Petals of a Peony has always made delicious food. And the food was delicious as expected. Petals does a good job of making food to-order. My order was piping hot and fresh. They're quick too. My order was ready in less than ten minutes. I've lived in downtown Memphis for three years and was always disappointed with the lack of quick and tasty food options that were reasonably priced. Glad to see that they've opened a downtown location. This will be my go to for quick bites or if I don't have food at home. Parking isn't too bad on the weekend if you're looking to dine in. There are plenty of street parking options despite being downtown.

Elevated Chinese takeout! Stopped in here on a work trip and I will be returning every time I visit. I got the Bento Box with General Peony's Chicken and Lo Mein. I got an extra side of rice for $1.50 so I could make this last me for 2 meals and it was plentyyyyy of food. I was so surprised with how much food you got for the price! And the quality of both the chicken and the flavor of the noodles were great for $10. The service at the register was super sweet, I ordered an extra side last minute and he repacked it for me and stapled it all back together for my walk back to hotel, it was such a nice gesture. The inside of the restaurant was very clean and even though I came in an hour before closing, there were a couple groups in there enjoying themselves still too. It seems like a great ambiance. I'll be back!

kung pao chicken with fried rice.

I really feel like memphis was missing this type of chinese takeout. It really is a great value. The egg drop soup is great. The spring rolls are crispy. Would be fine to eat there but I have always taken out. Fast service.

Kung Pao and Sizzling Chicken lunch bento. Fast friendly and fantastic flavor.

She was extremely pleasant and welcoming. The portions are massive and the flavor intense. Jacob got the salad which had way more on it than explained. He loved it. I got the truffle sandwich and it was absolutely the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. It had two giant fried tenders on it which were juicy and crispy with their amazing wingman sauce. It also had a truffle aioli that was subtle but definitely delicious. The fries are season and crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside. We got the wingman platter. For the love of God this was incredible. The wings were juicy as well as nicely crispy. The flavors, now here's where they hit. There was a honey mustard, wingman, lemon pepper and a type of jerk curry. Well let's say this, I NEVER dipped. Not once. The seasoning on every one of these was magnificent. The curry was my favorite. It had a unique flavor with a kick. Best wings Ever!!! The place earns its name. We also had the rolls which were spicy and flavorful. Wouldn't pass on those either. This place deserves more than 5 stars. If you're looking for fried chicken or wings DON'T MISS this place. I am ruined now, because I will forever want this food every time I want fried chicken. When it came to which flavors to pick, I knew I had to try their award-winning flavor, Memphis Buffalo. I'm not a big wing person, so it was just ok to me. It was good, but didn't wow me. Also, I always get boneless, so I'm not sure if the flavor is different on regular wings- so take my review with a large grain of salt if you're a big wing person. The fries were really good but the flavored versions weren't that impressive so I'd rather just stick to the regular fries. The Pineapple Habanero was really good though. The wings are smoked with the sauce added later. The wings taste good but they are pretty expensive for what they are. People should try the wings but I prefer deep fried wings that hold the sauce better.

Unfortunately, we were met with one of the rudest bartenders I've ever encountered. As soon as we sat down at the bar, the bartender--a Caucasian woman with a short haircut whose name I unfortunately didn't get--greeted us with an attitude that immediately made us feel unwelcome. Instead of providing friendly service, she was dismissive, impatient, and rushed us through placing our to-go order. She informed us that we could not eat at the bar, which was completely fine. We agreed without any issue and ordered our food to go. However, when my food arrived, I simply opened the container to make sure my order was correct before leaving. She immediately rushed back over and aggressively said, "Didn't I tell you that you could not eat at the bar?" I hadn't taken a single bite--I was only checking my order. Rather than politely clarifying the policy, she continued to scold us and make us feel like we were inconveniencing her simply by being there. We still hadn't even received my friend's food, yet she seemed more interested in lecturing us than providing basic customer service. Once my friend's food finally arrived, we left as quickly as possible. As visitors in town celebrating Pride, we expected a welcoming atmosphere and basic courtesy. Instead, we experienced hostility, impatience, and a complete lack of professionalism. There's a huge difference between enforcing a policy and treating customers with disrespect, and this bartender clearly doesn't understand that distinction. The food may have been fine, but the service was so unpleasant that I would never return or recommend Bar Dogs to anyone looking for a friendly place to eat or have a drink. Customer service training is desperately needed.
