*Birthday Roll* always a must when ordering sushi! Can never go wrong. Fully cooked roll so yummy!

My favorite roll at south main! Love the presentation of this birthday roll! If you don't eat raw than get this roll' even if you do eat raw sushi this is still My favorite. Can't go wrong with the birthday rol!

Had high hopes for this place but unfortunately was disappointed! The service was very slow, and it took a few minutes for anyone to see us at the door and get us seated. The raw fish here isn't very good quality, so any sushi we ordered with raw fish was pretty mediocre. However, the pikachu roll with eel was pretty good! Hopefully will be better in the future.

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary. We were staying at the Central Station Hotel but wanted hibachi and sushi. This place was within walking distance. As soon as we entered, we were first greeted with smiles and instructed to sit where ever we would like. I was a little nervous because there wasn't much of a crowd for it to be a Saturday night downtown, but it was after the holiday. Not long after being seated, our waitress came right over. She was very kind and attentive. We had never visited the restaurant before, so she was full of recommendations of her favorite appetizers to start us off. We tried the dumplings! Man! Soooo good! For our entrees, we shared a hurricane roll and chicken hibachi dinner! Whew, likely the BEST hibachi and sushi I've had in the city! We will definitely be back and will recommend to all who are looking for a great hibachi and sushi spot!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while! They did not disappoint. The food was really good and the service was awesome. We started with a couple of appetizers, the firecracker shrimp is definitely a must try! The spicy tuna tartar was interesting but really good! It's different for sure! We ordered some hot sake to go with our sushi. I loved the Nashville roll, it was the seared tuna on top for me. My husband ordered the steak hibachi and loved it. I had a bite of his steak and it was really good. I love the atmosphere here. You can dine in or outside. People watch and jump on the trolley after. Great downtown location. I can't wait to come back. If you're in this area, be sure to stop by for some sushi!

It took me a while to write this review because I was very dissatisfied with the level of service I received. I even had to call back to the restaurant manager to have a discussion with her. The sushi was good. I have no complaints there. Maybe I will try it again.

Great sushi! Highly recommend the hurricane roll which is tempura fried and the stone roll which has salmon in it. The spicy garlic butter edamame was so good! I saved the sauce from it to dip my sushi in! Check this place out if you're down on south main.

Cute spot in South Main!! Owner is very personable and good is good. I only gave it a three because sushi is not my favorite, but I do enjoy several other items on the menu. Firecracker shrimp, edamame, fried rice and a seaweed salad. It's a nice neighbor restaurant. Good vibes and good people!

Okay peeps. This is epic. South Main Sushi & Grill is under new management. You know Lee from the Midtown Sekisui? Well, SMS&G is now her baby! So exciting because she is an amazing businesswoman. I literally go out of my way to eat at Sekisui Midtown because of the way Lee runs that operation. In fact, I want to say she has been overseeing operations for several of the Sekisui restaurants. So the food is amazing! I highly recommend the egg rolls. People at our table were fighting over them! This is such a cool spot. Great for a date, cocktails with friends or even a business meal. You MUST get your sushi on at SMS&G. You really can't go wrong!!!!

This was supposed to be a Poke Bowl, I paid $31 for this tiny portion and it was mediocre at best.

I can not believe I have not reviewed Soul Fish as of yet. I am a huge fan…read more Let me preface this review by saying ... My grandfather owned two successful catfish restaurants. As a child I grew up on fried fish filets and hush puppies until my grandfather had to retire and sell his restaurant due to his Health. He still cooks up a mess of catfish for us about two or three times a year when we visit. Yum! My standards for good catfish are extremely high. Good fried catfish is not greasy, light cornmeal batter, tender flaky inside, and slightly crispy on the outside. Sounds simple enough but the truth of the matter is... Good fried catfish takes skill. After an epic searched for any decent catfish in Memphis and surrounding areas that took a few years ... My family and I decided to give up. And when I heard about Soul Fish it took some considerable convincing to get them to go. We where, none of us, disappointed! Soul Fish is without a doubt the best Catfish in Memphis. It is perfectly fried... Hushpuppies are tasty, coleslaw edible if not always yummy, fried pickles crisp and tart, pickle green tomatoes so yummy I could swim in them, and vegetables always cooked and seasons well (special recognition to the cabbage, broccoli, and black eyed peas). The service is always friendly, fast, efficient, and correct. The blackened catfish is pretty tasty too ... Sometimes they get a little heavy handed on the seasoning. Deserts are pretty great as well. My sister loves the Mississippi mud chocolate thingy they have (I'm not a chocolate fan). I've introduced many people (about 40 or so) to Soul Fish - locals and visitors alike - and no one ... And I mean not a single one of them where disappointed. So why four stars instead of five? True... the catfish is the best in Memphis - however it is not the best I've ever had. And Sometimes a filet or two at Soul Fish fall short of perfection... However ... I'm a regular and a fan of Soul Fish Cafe. If you have spent hours and disappointed meals trying to find good catfish in Memphis ... Look no further ... This is the place for you. I promise you will not Be disappointed!

Memphis is a slight detour on our way back to Texas, but there was no way we were settling for fast food along the highway. We wanted good seafood--fresh, satisfying, and worth the stop. So glad we chose this spot. From the outside, it's simple and unassuming. Inside, it feels like a slightly bougie fish cafe--clean, cozy, and well-kept, with subtle holiday decor and that warm Southern hospitality greeting you at the door. Our server, Denise, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The one-page menu keeps it simple, and she walked us through it along with the daily special. We ordered the gumbo, salmon burger, and a grilled salmon plate--everything tasted fresh and cooked to order. A perfect seafood meal in Tennessee. We left full, happy, and already planning what to try next time. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

A prime location for a prime steakhouse. The service was strong as was the pacing. I found the server a bit too eager to explain the restaurant and the menu. I'm a ribeye eater so I had a pretty good idea I was getting a ribeye before I went in. I think the talking is used as a way to upsell and push guests towards opaquely priced off-menu "specials" which from my understanding are always on offer (such as their deviled eggs and bone marrow sauce). We started with the beef tartare and duck ravioli. I preferred the tartare, which had a nice spicy seasoning throughout. The duck ravioli had an excellent sauce on it, too. For our mains, I got the prime boneless ribeye ($68) and my brother got the prime strip ($56). We also shared the Yume A5 Wagyu experience ($225), letting us try three different cuts of Wagyu side by side. For sides (about $15/each), we did the fontina potatoes, truffle honey tots, and carrots. We also added the gulf prawns ($21), foie gras ($14), and bone marrow sauce (~$20) which was prepared table side and was plenty to share. It was very rich and peppery, though a bit of a salt bomb. For dessert, we shared the French toast bread pudding with maple butter ($14) which is one of my favorite bread puddings I've tried. They also brought my brother a dessert since it was his birthday, it was something like a raspberry mousse with coconut foam and a sharp raspberry sauce. Excellent. The Yume experience was a big motivation in coming here, as getting to try cuts of A5 Wagyu next to cuts of regular (albeit prime) beef is unique in the Memphis area and really for hours around. It was priced as an experience rather than a food item. It did not disappoint, nor did the prime steaks. The A5 is so unbelievably tender by comparison. My favorite was the ribeye, but I'm biased. My brother, normally a strip guy, agreed with me there. The potato sides were underwhelming, particularly for the price. I don't know how I let my brother talk me into buying him $15 tater tots for his birthday. I could get the carrots again, though. My total was $800 for the two of us for the above food, six cocktails, and tax and tip. A big chunk of that was the Yume experience as well as the drinks (we were celebrating!). If we were to go back, it would be closer to $350 for the two of us, and I would go for the prime ribeye with foie gras again, no need for Wagyu or sauce. I enjoy the sister restaurants in this restaurant group (Coastal Fish, Flight, Southern Social) and frankly I'd bet Porch is the cash cow of the group due to the relatively poor value proposition. We had a great experience exploring the finest steak and accompaniments one could wish for. But, for my money, Coastal does a pretty good steak too.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!
