You'll get a free quote on site before any work starts." I get a text the next morning saying the appointment has been confirmed and 3 hours later I get one saying it is cancelled. I call and ask why was the appointment cancelled and she said they needed a $75 dispatch fee. So if the quote was too high it doesn't matter, they still want their $75.

My previous HVAC contractor had been out twice and I was left with, " you need a new thermostat" and left with a cold house. That's when I found Simmons. They were very responsive and were out within 8 hours. The technician was very polite, professional and explained everything about the system (since I was unfamiliar with a dual-fuel system). He identified the problem and made the necessary repairs quickly. Having had a great experience then, I put the system under contract with them. Since then they have not let me down. They have kept my system in excellent condition. This week I suddenly had an issue with heat. Called and had a technician here within 3 hours. He got the system working but the next day I had the same issue and on one of the coldest days the system was out again. I called after hours and within 15 minutes had a call back from the on-call tech who said he would be here in 20 minutes. He was. The problem was so minute, a loose connection, but trouble shooting that was a pain for him, but he found the problem within 15 minutes. Simmons is my only HVAC system contractor. I know the age of the existing system and understand it only has a few years left in it. I feel confident that Simmons will keep it running great and when the dreaded day comes, it will be Simmons technicians installing a new system.

That kind of diligence means a lot because it shows he pays attention to detail. At the end of the day, our house was given the assurance that everything is good to go for the winter and that's all I needed. I had Norfolk Air Htg & Cooling come out for an assessment / quote for some minor work. Turns out…read morethey are insanely expensive compared to some other licensed HVAC companies. $89 just for the site visit, which the tech said could NOT BE APPLIED to their cost of work. Their quotes were ridiculous. $358 to clear 2 condensate lines. $287 to add a condensate drain joist strap. $358 to replace 6 feet of insulated flex duct. All very accessible. Another company came out the next day and INCLUDED in their $99 site visit they cleaned out both condensate lines. Their quote for the remaining work was less than half what Norfolk Air Htg Cooling quoted, and the technician was far more friendly and explained things very well (I'm an engineer in 4 fields). The only positive was that Norfolk Air Htg & Cooling was very responsive -- same-day for a non-emergency. (but the other company was also just as responsive)

The year before another plumber replaced my upstairs toilet with a new one and put in a new metal plate it cost me $150. Beware that this company charges ridilous prices. Make sure they don't bring a helper and price the job ahead of time. I personally will never use them again as the other plumber did a great job also but was fair with price. RIP OFF $$$
