I grew up with family members who could build a small house, remodel a kitchen or bath, build almost anything, so I have high expectations when hiring contractors, and finding someone I trust is tricky. Goodlife Construction deserves a solid 5 star rating. We worked with Roman, and he was prompt to the initial appointment, thorough and accurate in his assessment of what we needed for our job. (Removal of an old plummed bar in a closet and removal of a fireplace, gasline AND window, with new framing and drywall.) He was quick to send an estimate, and could schedule within days. Time was of the essense for us, and he was so thoughtful in getting things moving quickly. His team was there on time each day, and they completed the job very quickly, but also with excellent attention to detail. I know that the scope of the job turned out to be a bit beyond the original assumptions, but they adjusted easily to these issues, and made the job look "easy". Wow! is all I can say. The workers presented themselves and all wore PPEs because of the COVID-19 epidemic. They did an excellent job of painting and moving the heavy furniture back to their respect position. Requested a quote through Yelp for work required to get an old unpermitted ADU permitted by the City. Replace wood siding with stucco on two exterior walls, replace 3 windows and some dry rot repair. Roman was very helpful, and the estimate was in the middle of 3 we received, and very close to the low bid. We went with GLC because Roman was professional, and I liked the way he responded and revised bid after we made a few changes. Three different two man crews came by for different components of the job (framing/windows/dry rot, stucco, trim/paint), and all did good work. We called several contractors to get a bid on, what we thought was a simple stucco repair. Good Life (GL) was very responsive, and we dealt with Roman. Roman quickly and accurately assessed that we had faulty stucco done by the previous "flippers". We eventually hired GL and they were very thorough and also found we had subterranean termites and major wood rot. We are VERY happy with the job GL performed. They were incredibly reliable and kept us updated on the job throughout the process. These days, it's hard to find a good contractor and one that will even call you back. Last year we had Good Life renovate our laundry room. They took what was a small closet with stackable machines to a side by side with cabinets installed and a granite countertop on a side cabinet installed too. They put up shelving, painted, and put in new tile flooring. The biggest part of the project was moving a wall into the main bedroom to make room for the new laundry room. After doing extensive research (BBB, CSLB, Yelp, Google, etc.) and receiving multiple quotes, I hired Good Life Construction to repair/replace an upstairs deck in my townhouse that was riddled with dry rot. Good Life came as a recommendation from my HOA management company, after other homeowners in my community used them and had positive things to say. Alex came out for the initial walk through, and I had an estimate emailed to me that same day. After I approved the estimate, I was on their schedule within 2 weeks. The project itself went as quickly as possible, given the weather and a few other extenuating circumstances. Let me tell you: my new deck is beautiful! The Westcoat stamped tile surface is such an upgrade from what I had before. It seemed like a complex project as the deck is also the roof to my living room, but the crew made the process look easy. Good Life were excellent to work with for repairing a bunch of drywall, insulation, laminate flooring, and essentially reconstructing a bathroom. Roman was always super available and in the rare case when he didn't answer a call, always returned any messages promptly. The crew for our job was primarily Dimitri and Alix (Alex?), as well as maybe one or two others, and everyone was a pleasure to work with. They answered any questions we had, were accommodating with small changes we needed, and quick to fix any small issues we had. While the quote came in higher than some other contractors, we have zero regrets choosing Good Life and would definitely come back to them in the future. Had a leaking window and dry rot problem in one one of our bedroom and also dry rot in our upstairs bathroom. Called Good life and Roman came and gave us an estimate. He was not pushy and he was knowledgeable. We got a couple of more estimates from other companies too. When my husband and I decided to call good life they were ready to start the venext Monday. They had guys guys working in the bedroom , our bathroom and window guys too . We were very impressed. They did a great job and they did not cut any corners . My neighbors were very impressed when they finished my window because they said it looks so good that you cannot tell they took out the whole wall to put a new window. My bathroom looks so good that my son was so happy to be the first one to use it lol.. also every time I had a question I called and texted Roman and he called and texted back right away. I forgot to ask the names of the two main guys who were always here . They were very friendly and they worked really hard . I got 4 different bids and Good Life was the most detailed and efficient. Their customer service is unbeatable. They are super patient. Due to the supply chain shortages, the project was supposed to be completed in about 3 weeks, it had to be put to a halt and didn't get completed until a few months later. It took me well over 5-6 months to write this because I wasn't sure if I should review and rate Good Life based on the project itself or just based on them because it involves another contractor they hired. I feel it's a disservice to Good Life if I give them anything less than 5 stars. It was a long conflict. I decided to review it based on the project as a whole. Good Life was awesome. They showed up on time, their employees were polite and clean after their stuff. Out of all the workers who were at my property, I cannot praise enough about Viktor. He was friendly, respectful and polite and he tried his best to match the colors of the paint. I wish I could have him as my go-to handyman. Good Life did the demolition and also carpentry part of the job, as well as installing vinyl flooring and windows/sliding doors. Despite there were a few mishaps, this is a company that I would hire again and recommend. The contractor they hired to do the waterproofing of the balconies made the balconies look beautiful. Even my roofer wowed when he saw the new balconies. However, after I tested the balconies with water before I give them the final payment, I noticed there were a few sloping issues. 2 of the drains are useless. Fortunately, Good Life promised to fix whatever they could and sent the contractor out to fix some of the sloping issues. Compare to Good Life, they aren't as good in cleaning up. Nonetheless, the balconies look awesome! So, if I have to rate them separately.. Good Life 5 stars! the other contractor: 4 stars. read more

Alex at Good Life gave me a written estimate and his crew began work to repair flashing and chimney chases, as well as to re-stucco and paint my chimney. The crew arrived on time every day; they worked diligently; and they did amazing work. When there was a misunderstanding about whether Good Life had contracted to replace the chimney chase caps, Alex was a professional. He and I re-negotiated the contract to reach a fair price when it became clear that there was an honest miscommunication. I had some dry rot, a couple leaks through the siding when it rained, and other siding issues that was in need of immediate repairs so I called Good Life Construction to come by and give me a quote. Dmitriy came by and I explained to him the obvious problem areas and I also asked him to evaluate other areas which were questionable. Dmitriy and I spent a sufficient amount of time going through the outside of the entire house. Dmitriy gave me a thorough explanation to me why each area should be repaired. After spending time with Dmitriy, it was clear to me that he was very knowledgeable in his field and I felt very good about explanations. The following day I received a quote which was very reasonable, so I decided to go with Good Life. I called the office to schedule an appointment, the earliest appointments were two weeks out. Good Life started and finished the work on schedule. During the course of the work I got a text from Dmitriy while I was at work showing me that when removing some of the damaged siding that there was additional dry rot on some of the wood work around the windows so I meet with the contractor to discuss additional repairs and costs. After seeing the damaged I approved the additional repairs. The whole experience working with Dmitriy was a very good one. He was very knowledgeable, attentive, and responsive and I thought his pricing was fair. I highly reccomend Good Life. I called for an estimate on a large siding project and Alex came out quickly to see the project and gave a fair price. After scheduling the siding project, I had an engineer come inspect the structure of the house. He had some recommendations on replacing beams and posts and thankfully Good Life had skilled enough carpenters to execute the structural work. Alex came back out and was able to add the structural work and new windows to the estimate. For those people unfamiliar with large projects, it's fairly common for contractors to add in change orders once a project is started. Sometimes these change orders can be expensive and you are just on the hook for them because the project has started. Not only was Alex upfront about possible extra charges, he didn't drastically change the scope of work and when changes were made, they were at a fair price. Their integrity when it came to this is probably the greatest factor in my rating of the company. The lead for the actual work being done was Vlad. This being a large project, they were there for a few weeks and I couldn't be happier with the crew. They were all polite, showed up on time, and exercised great communication. I had lots of questions and watched a lot of their work and Vlad had no issues explaining or answering my questions. Additionally, they were extremely neat, which isn't very common but greatly appreciated. Everyday they would pick up all debris and even use a magnet sweeper for nails. I know they specialize in dry rot repair but I would gladly hire them again for any projects they were willing to take on. read more

I had them repair some siding dry rot last summer and they used irregular sized board and flashing that is ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb. I assume they did this because it was easier, faster, and cheaper then using full sheets of siding that would have looked better and not required flashing. They are very expensive as well. read more
