I'll start by saying I'd highly recommend this company because they are very professional and efficient! We recently purchased our home and experienced a lot of water damage due to a storm. Moisture turned out to be in almost every room of our house, and then we found out we had mold in one of the bedrooms. Once that was remediated, I contacted Good Life because I loved the positive reviews I read on yelp. They were able to come out a day or two after I called, which was great. Paul was the estimator who came out and I can't recommend him enough. He did a very thorough inspection, he was so professional, and very responsive. Anytime we had any questions, we'd call or text him and he always responded and he'd explain everything perfectly. Upon his inspection, he found a ton of dry rot and spots where the siding looked like it had been replaced or repaired poorly. There were holes in the siding and we have old, leaky windows that were also contributing to the water damage. Paul wrote up a couple different estimates to see which route we'd like to take to get the work done, and once that was figured out, the work started right away. They estimated about a week or so for the entire project and finished on time, even with rainy weather. The guys were there at 8am every single morning and got right to work. There was a bit of a language barrier with some of the guys, but we communicated through google translate and had no issues at all. They worked very hard and we're so happy with the results! We had used Good Life Construction (GLC) when we found a leak due to improperly flashed outlet in our balcony. They fixed it. That took care of about 70% of the leak during rainy season. We still had minor leak. We asked them to give a proposal to fix it. This time one of their tech tested the floor and identified that the leak is coming from the floor/wall corner. Jacob researched and presented a number of options that took our concerns into consideration. We chose to replace row of two tiles close to the wall and cut about two feet of stucco. They completely replaced the flashing, paper and installed new tiles and new stucco and retested the floor. No leaks were found. As they tested the wall under the roof, there was a slight leak. They opened the drywall inside and identified that it is coming from the wall high up that is protected by the roof. We asked them to fix that as well. The entire team of Jacob, Valentyn, David, Alec, Mike and Igor worked with us as went through the detective process. They did a very high quality job. In addition to this they did a complete remodel of 2 bathrooms, replaced vanity, lighting, fixtures and installed a bidet (installed electrical outlet for the bidet) in a 3rd bathroom, installed an electrical outlet and a bidet in a fourth bathroom. They did a tremendous job with all of this. The key for us that it was very easy for us to work with them. The entire six weeks they worked with us stress free. We now have two brand new bathrooms, two upgraded bathrooms and complicated leak in the balcony fixed. We are working with GLC for one other significant remodel now. I have lived through extensive renovations before so thought I knew what to expect when I contracted Good Life Construction to remove a wall and chimney surround in a 100 year old house. What I didn't expect was the extreme care they took in protecting my house near the demolition, rebuilding, and drywalling. They showed up promptly when they said they would, provided all the services contracted for but then some: they were very pleasant people, left the work site orderly and clean every day, in general were just easy to live with. They did historical-renovation level replastering of an adjacent wall. It is hard to spend money you have saved but I can't imagine having gotten a better "product" for what I invested with them. I tested this company with a bathroom vanity replacement before I could commit to a bigger bathroom remodel. The guys that came are hardworking, kind, and earnest, but I am overall disappointed as the sink is leaking. I also wish I was told to prepare cabinet filler in advance or a list of helpful materials to prepare beforehand to fill in the spaces. The positive is that I didn't have to haul the 60" vanity upstairs by myself. Too heavy for me. I also didn't have to demolish the prior vanity. It had the tile, mortar, and mesh webbing that was difficult to remove. I thought pros had tips and knowledge, but the wall ended up looking like it did when I did another bathroom in our house. The drywall is passably patched in various places (not sure why it wasn't reinforced with mesh or tape), the sink is leaking, the splinters at the cutout at the back bothers me, and the uneven caulking bothers me. Maybe this company is good for only large projects. Update: the company reached out to me and we're making it work. Definitely giving props for their positive cooperative attitude and action. read more

Repair of damage to my home. They were polite, efficient, and the work done was great. One caveat: part of the repair was to some damaged brick facing around my garage. Initially the contractor was going to rebuild the damaged area with red bricks, while the facing is composed of washed bricks. They had to remove the stucco, membrane and flashing and slope the balcony to the correctly, not done at the build. Their staff came out on time and did the work with expertise. Pretty jealous of the service received by other customers. My experience started at five stars, too, but then plummeted rapidly. I had Good Life out to provide an estimate on an interior job and some exterior dry rot repair. I was happy to pay their fee for the initial estimate, as other contractors who require this fee have proven well worth it in the past. This person was super friendly, masked, asked good questions and listened carefully, etc. I was promised a quick estimate for the dry rot and advised the estimate for the interior work would take longer. The dry rot estimate came quickly, and the work was scheduled for a month out which was fine. I asked about the status of the interior work estimate; my email was forwarded to Andrew but I never received a reply. The next month the dry rot work was scheduled and completed... but the single coat of paint was applied with a sprayer, and done with such a thin coat that the brown of the wood was visible in many areas. I sent photos to Good Life; they quickly sent someone out, a different guy than before, to get it taken care of: the guy who came to fix it up was super friendly, etc., just like before. I paid for the dry rot work. Later I received an email asking for payment for the dry rot work. I sent proof of payment and asked about the estimate for the interior work. The reply came back that oops, yes, they do have a record of my payment, just a little paperwork mix-up. My question about the interior work estimate was not addressed. I am thinking it is not happening, which is fine, but would have preferred to know that months ago... So, everyone at Good Life is super friendly; maybe consider them for your next dry rot job but check their work carefully and make sure you have a record of your payment? read more
