I spent 58years working with the public and in consumer service for the duration. I may not have pleased everyone but I never had any experience with a costumer that was as foolish as his insistence on a moot point. I was a steady customer of the store and now I am only an adamant excustomer. I didn't spend a lot but, now I will spend nothing and advise GenZ and Boomers to avoid this place in the evening because the little child would rather argue nothing important than get a sale.

The first visit, we tried quite an assortment...we had a white cake donut with chocolate icing and sprinkles, a sour cream cake donut, and split a huge iced cinnamon roll (well, split half of it...and saved the rest for later!). We each had coffee, of which there was a nice assortment. I got a shot of raspberry syrup in mine, which was nice. It was good coffee too! We're Starbucks people (I know, I know), so it was a relief to find a place where we could get our morning coffee each day! On our other visits, we tried the biscuits and gravy, cheese Danish, chocolate croissant, more cake donuts, Baklava, and something else that I can't remember at the moment...but whatever it was, it was delicious. The assortment of food is mind-boggling...little carrot cakes, so many different donut varieties, cookies, Baklava, croissants, rolls, breads...you just cannot believe how much they have when you walk in! The food is all homemade fresh each day, and there are also loaves of different breads you can buy and take home. I really wanted to try a Chicago dog, because I do love a good Chicago dog, but we just didn't have time (or room in our tummies, what with all the pastries!). The service here was excellent as well. The people who work here are patient and friendly (they have to be patient because, believe me, it's tough to decide when all of those goodies are in front of you!), and always smiled and treated us well. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, and I was skeptical when we pulled up, I'll admit. But it won me over in a snap, and I'm trying to find an excuse to head up to Monticello just so I can pop in for a yummy treat! There are cheaper places in town to get gas, but they are either old and beat up, obscure and coop owned, or crazy mobbed (talking about your Kroger's gas station). I'm sure it's not an accident that Family Express is cleaner and kept up better because they are the first and last gas station tourists see in and out of town, so despite being on a busy corner, it's pretty easy to get in and out of the gas station and there's plenty of room to turn around, if need be. It's also great if you are towing a large boat, two jet skis or are driving an RV. No other place in town offers as much room.

Today, Monday July 5th, I decided to grab a cup of coffee before we hit the road to head home. Again I encountered a wait. While waiting, I noticed they ran out of a specific blend. It wasn't enough to fill the person's cup. Can you guess what the barista did? Topped it off with cream. This wasn't a light pour...it was damn near a cup! Good luck to that person. As I waited for the person in front of me, I couldn't get over all of the clutter and chaos behind the counter. Because of this, I walked out. I decided I'd have to do Monday with no caffeine. I hope someone reads this from either Kroger or Starbucks. This location must be brining in a significant amount. Invest in the employees by providing them with training on planning for their day. I shouldn't have put this last but there were a few employees that treated us very well during our encounter. I really appreciate them for their customer service.
