Mission Pacific Beach Resort

Mission Pacific is genuinely one of the most beautiful beachfront properties I've stayed at. The…read morelocation is unmatched. Having access to both Mission Pacific and The Seabird across the street made the experience feel even more expansive and luxurious. The property itself is gorgeous and the aesthetic is immaculate. However, the service during our stay fell significantly short of what a property of this caliber should deliver. I traveled with a 4-month-old infant and requested a pack & play multiple times over three weeks and it wasn't in my room upon arrival despite repeated confirmations. The front desk was consistently unreachable by phone throughout our stay, which made accessing the resort fee amenities we paid for nearly impossible. I genuinely believe this may have been a staffing issue specific to our visit rather than a reflection of the property's standard. I would absolutely return, the location and property alone make it worth it. I just hope the service matches the beauty of the space next time.

Beautiful hotel, but quite pricey. We were upgraded to an ocean front room due to our Hyatt status…read more The room itself was very nice. However, warning- if you are in the middle ocean front rooms (i.e. room 530), they are located outside and there is a train behind the property that runs all night. The manager offered to switch our room but it would have been a downgrade to an ocean view room so we decided to deal with the noise. Note that you also can't see the sunset from those rooms as it is blocked by the rooms on the west side. The front desk service was great. They offered us some wine and champagne and provided us with water bottles. The rooftop pool is wonderful. It's a nice place to lounge. The pool is heated so didn't feel too cold, but we were also there during a heat advisory 75+ degrees). There is a live dj playing lounge music. The food and drinks are expensive so we didn't really order anything. Overall a nice stay, but if we ever go back I would make sure we don't get one of the outside rooms.

Oceanside is a part of my childhood, how could I miss it? Especially since the bites are awe-inspiring. Lemon pancakes are the moment, they're slightly zesty and mildly sweet. Perfect for sunny days and oh-so-photogenic. If you're a scrambles and omelette boy like me, you have another reason to love this place. I highly recommend the coffee and small treats too. Drinks are refillable and seating is readily available. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are accessible. Ordering is done at the counter, you'll be given a number to post at your table once you complete your transaction. Overall, the service is excellent. We only had one weird experience with a tall girly who had major attitude problems. I recently brought my parents for their anniversary and we had a pleasant time.

We were craving Italian before a movie, and Amalfi couldn't have been a better choice. I'm always…read moredrawn to restaurants that make their pasta in-house, so I had to give it a try. I ordered the pesto pappardelle, and it was easily the best pesto dish I've had in San Diego. The sauce was fresh, flavorful, and the portion was generous. They also start you off with warm bread and olive oil topped with pine nuts--which, as a table bread lover, was a huge win. Our server was from Italy, and his warm hospitality made the experience feel even more authentic. Between the delicious food, excellent service, and warm atmosphere, Amalfi definitely earned a return visit. There are already several other dishes on the menu that I can't wait to come back and try. If you're looking for fresh, authentic Italian food in San Diego, I'd absolutely recommend giving Amalfi a try.

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews. The prices were on the high side, but I…read moreexpected that. We started with a bottle of the house red wine, which was very good. We also ordered a pasta as an appetizer and asked the waiter if it could be split in the kitchen. I wanted spaghetti but was told they don't serve it. I then asked if I could substitute linguini, since it was listed on the menu with another dish, and the waiter wasn't even sure that would be possible. The good news is they did accommodate my request for linguini. The disappointing part was that they refused to split the appetizer in the kitchen and instead brought me an empty plate so I could divide it myself. At these prices, that's not the level of service I expected. My husband and I both ordered calzones. As someone from New York, I was surprised to receive what were essentially flatbread pizzas with limited toppings on top rather than traditional calzones, which are usually stuffed with the ingredients listed on the menu. It wasn't what we expected. On a Friday night there was no live music, despite the atmosphere suggesting there might be. When we asked why, we were told its only on Wednesday night. The service was average, the food was just okay, and I was also charged an extra $6 for substituting linguini. Overall, this restaurant didn't live up to the reviews, and unfortunately, I won't be returning.
