We made reservations for mid-April to celebrate our 38th anniversary. We usually stay at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, which is tough to beat, but since our kids recently bought a new home in Oceanside, we wanted to stay closer to them this time. I came across this hotel while searching online, and the oceanfront location immediately caught my attention -- something I always love. We decided to give it a try and compare it to our usual stay. We were assigned room 559, an oceanfront corner room, and the view was absolutely incredible. Honestly, I never wanted to leave the room. Every day for breakfast, we walked over to Piper at their sister property, Seabird Resort. One of the things I loved most about the location was how walkable everything was. Throughout the week, we were able to walk to several breweries and restaurants nearby. While valet parking is definitely pricey, we barely needed the car, which made it well worth it. Based on how much we enjoyed this stay, we're already coming back for my husband's 70th birthday during the first week of July. I'm so excited and really hoping we can get the same room again! read more

*This review is for the rooftop restaurant* Fantastic experience from start to finish. Typically when you go to places in great locations with amazing views, the food doesn't measure up. That is not the case here. The service overall was top notch. The hostess accommodated us despite being late for our reservation and we were able to grab a cozy table by the ocean. We really enjoyed Austin, our server, as well. I always forget how incredibly fresh the food is in California until I get here. Each dish we ordered was outstanding - unique preparation and great flavors. We loved the oysters, whipped feta, artichokes, and mushrooms. The Albariño was crisp and delicious as well. Outstanding experience! We LOVED this hotel. The property is a 5 minute walk to the beach and pier. We stayed through the AMEX Fine Hotel & Resort Program ( if you are considering the same kind of stay, please see my photo with all of the program benefits). The hotel property is gorgeous and immaculately maintained. The rooftop bar is a must see- the decor is beautiful and relaxing & offers phenomenal views of the ocean. Mission Pacific does not disappoint! My third stay and it's been almost a year. Mission has stepped up their game since I was here last! Becca who checked me in was fantastic. She offered me a glass of sparkling cider but first handed me a tray of cold towel. The service here is impeccable! She saw that it was my birthday and had staff send me a note and chocolate. I got upgraded to a Sanctuary Studio Oceanfront which was ready at 11am. The room is amazing. The view is to die for. The tub with a loofah was relaxing. Jaden the beach butler is always very helpful and courteous. Note that you do have to take the umbrella and chairs down and walk it back to the shack. That can be difficult. That's something I wished they would change. Other than that, it was such a nice weekend. We had front row seats to a concert. read more

But I'm extremely disappointed because my headphones were stolen out of my car while it was parked with valet. I used my AMEX credit to book a stay at Mission Pacific Beach, the sister hotel to Seabird. I chose this property because reviews said it was more upscale and geared toward adults, while the other hotel felt more family focused. Check-in was great. The staff were warm, helpful, and even upgraded our room as part of the AMEX perk when available, which I appreciated. Now for the room. The view of the ocean and boardwalk was beautiful, but the room itself felt very average. The mattress was uncomfortable, and there's no bathtub, just a shower. Even the robes felt cheap and thin. For a four-star hotel, referred to as a Fine Resorts hotel, I expected more. As far as amenities, I didn't check out the fitness center, but an employee mentioned the sister property has the better gym. You can use amenities at both locations, but there aren't many dining options here. The rooftop bar is cute with a relaxed vibe, and I've been to Valle for my birthday before, which was fantastic. But for the AMEX-included breakfast, you have to go to the sister resort, which isn't really the atmosphere I want when I book a staycation. I do have to say the blackout curtains were great. They worked perfectly. Checkout was where things went downhill. Around 10 a.m., housekeeping knocked. I put up the Do Not Disturb sign and let them know we had a 4 p.m. checkout. Not long after, someone else knocked. I told them the same thing. Then a third knock. At that point, it was frustrating. The team really needs to pay closer attention to the DND sign and the fact that AMEX guests have confirmed late checkout. When I went downstairs to check out, they said they'd email my receipt, but it never arrived. Overall, the hotel is just okay. The Michelin-star restaurant is the standout, but outside of that, there aren't many food options, not a lot of amenities, and the energy is extremely quiet. If you're planning a staycation, I wouldn't recommend it. You'll end up needing to leave the property to find anything lively or interesting. read more

A fantastic experience from beginning to end! We were hoping to get an oceanfront studio and the front desk staff was fantastic. It was a very busy weekend and they managed to get us one with just a short wait. We were over the moon when we walked into the room, it was absolutely stunning! Exactly what we were hoping for! Street noise is just slightly loud but earplugs were provided, they thought of everything. Our breakfast at Piper was excellent! The staff accommodated some of our special requests and the food was great. We had a few mishaps along our stay and management contacted us immediately to remedy everything and was very quick to communicate and resolve! We love this place and are so pleased with our stay and we will definitely be back soon! read more

The entire resort was amazing! The service was top-notch from the moment we parked to the moment we left. From Valet to bar security to checkout, we encountered a crew of world class hospitality workers. Coming from Vegas, I'd like to say that means something extra. We absolutely loved everything from the delightful scent of the hotel to the easy access to the beach. Our room was clean and well laid out. And guess what? The Top Gun house was right on the property! It was like something out of a movie! Now, I must warn you about the restaurant, Piper. We had a terrible experience there. For dinner, we ordered a $100 ribeye, medium, pasta, octopus, and a few drinks. The drinks took forever to come out, and the first attempt at the steak was chewy and lacked flavor. It was honestly a $50 steak. The server was so kind as to offer a remake, but the meat came out the same way. Slow service and low-quality food, but I guess the premium charge came from being close to the ocean. Breakfast was also overpriced ($51 breakfast buffet that I would pay $30 for). But the friendly server made the meal tolerable. We're super excited to come back to Mission Pacific again, but next time, we'll definitely skip Piper. read more

Mixed feelings on this place given a charming old seaside neighborhood was obliterated to make way for this resort. Still, such is the price of progress, and keeping a gorgeous seaside town thriving, youthful, and exuberant. This is truly a stunning property. No other way to describe it. Nothing in the gaslamp district, downtown, or even Lajolla comes close. I'm a regular brother born in Mississippi, but I had to break out the word marvelous to describe this hotel. It's like a shiney seashell you found your first time on a beach as a child. You think a hotel charging av $500 a night is expensive, then you wake up so rested thinking, that wasn't enough, not nearly. Worthy every buck. The staff alone, the way they dote on you is already just so rare, so very human... lets face it, service in 2025 is gone, brutal, not giving a darn. Come here. It's as if they hired nurses. They are just good people who happen to work in hospitality, that get it. No, it's not a hospital, but yes, they are hospitable, caring that our getaway, gets way away from stress and into chill mode. Every corner directs your brain it's in a place of warmth, and comfort. We arrived too late for the glass of wine others mentioned but check in was easy enough and it was a nice touch being upgraded to the sea view room with views of the ocean from the balcony. Overall our stay was very good, even great. Room super comfortable, kids pool at the Seabird we spent much of our time at, and staff was friendly. We did not eat at all of the restaurants but I would say the food we did have was fine, nothing special. My son enjoyed the superfood bowl for breakfast; I ordered poached eggs a few times for breakfast and they were continually overcooked. After a disastrous attempt to use my AmEx FHR credit at their sister property across the street last year, I tepidly booked this night with low expectations. The check-in process was a bit slow to start just like last year during the busy holiday season. But once I got up to the counter and was greeted by Erick, everything quickly improved. Despite the mob of visitors, Erick maintained an easy cheerful vibe and provided an overview of the property as well as where/how to use my AMEX benefits. We were upgraded to an ocean view room with a balcony. It was a fantastic view of the pier right when you walk in. We used our experience credit and breakfast benefit at the Piper restaurant across the street. The experience credit cannot be used towards valet resort fees, which were the only thing we really had to pay for. Room is modern and comfortable. Gym is spacious. Rooftop pool was closed for winter, but jacuzzi was open. Fantastic location in the heart of downtown Oside. Looking forward to more staycations here! read more

I want to say that I did not stay here, but I use the facilities as a guest in the neighboring seabird hotel. What's great is that they have a partnership through Hyatt and it was the availability to use their gym and the pool to explore the property and I would say the property is very nice. I went to the pool deck and it seemed like they're doing some repairs. It was a broken glass and I would say that no one was there in the morning that I was visiting during the weekday but overall the place look nice. It looked inviting though there wasn't many people working besides those fixing the glass And I would say the service from the hotel. Staff was pretty good but finding the gym or finding the full deck, took a little bit of searching, and I would say that if you are staying either in at the seabird or mission Pacific, it's worth exploring all amenities. read more

I had a great experience here. The staff awesome, the rooms great. I would say I would have liked the rooms to have bar soap but that's ok. Beds comfortable. The gym is a bit small but you can use gym at the Seabird, which is much better. The breakfast is at the Seabird too and the breakfast is expensive and not great. That's the minus. I do love the views at this hotel. Amazing views in the room and the rooftop bar is not to be missed. Wow! I will come back just for the rooftop bar. The views esp at Sunset are unreal. What a great place for a staycation. Tip: overnight parking $55/night Pros: - Stayed in a double queen ocean view room and it was so cute. The room was large and spacious. There was a balcony where you could enjoy the view of the beach. I loved all the extra bench seating - I loved the fun and funky light fixtures in the room. I loved that most of the lights had a dimming option - Bathroom had all the needed toiletries, a bathtub, and a separate WC with a toilet with a very weak fan - Plenty of outlets and USB ports - Lobby had some space for people to work at, spilling into the little cafe, which included patio seating - There seemed to be a good handful of food options, including those at the Seabird, their sister hotel right across the street - Room service was easily arranged online and came piping hot and fresh fairly quickly - Rooftop bar had an amazing view of the beach, great breeze - Staff was all very helpful and friendly - Really worth staying if you get the American Express perks - dining/room credit, early check-in, late check out, room upgrade if available. But honestly even without the perks this room definitely was worth the price Cons: - My biggest and probably only complaint was the water pressure on both the sink and shower. The sink was basically just a little trickle of water, the shower itself barely had any pressure at all - Kinda awkward as our balcony let us view right into the rooms next to ours. We were also visible to all the guests at the Rooftop bar. We definitely kept our curtains closed for privacy - Another thing to note, this hotel is big with 2 separate buildings where each floor was connected by a bridge. Mission Pacific is on my list of Top 10 Hotels from all over. It is my top hotel to stay at the southern Cali coast. The location is superb right next to the beach (after crossing a small street) and within walking distance of many great places to eat (Like the "Allmine"Restaurant). The rooms are fantastic with comfy and classy beachy furniture. The bathrooms very nice with comfy bathrobes. The service is also fantastic. The cool thing is that you can use the pool and access the kids activities at the next door sister resort the Seabird. At night we can sit in our oceanfront balcony and hear the waves and maybe see some dolphins or whales in the morning. The gym is also a great place to work out. The rooftop bar is probably (besides an Oceanview balcony if you are in it) the best place to view the ocean/ sunset in Oceanside. If you want a superb hotel with a fantastic location and view of the ocean, this is the place for you. Cannot recommend it any higher. On a side nostalgic note, the top gun house is right in front of the hotel. read more

Canadians beware.... I stayed here because I was attending a destination wedding. I'm over 40yrs of age and the bride and groom were hosting a party at the roof top bar. The staff would not accept our Canadian driver's licence as proper identification and would not serve us alcoholic beverages...the bartender was rude and obnoxious and would not serve many people as they would not accept Canadian driver's licences. Great beach side hotel! The hotel is very trendy and contemporary. Lots of earthy materials used in the design of this hotel. My fave is the rooftop pool and bar on the 6th floor overlooking the ocean....perfect spot to spend the afternoon! The beach is literally across the street and they have beach valet but we didn't get to try the service. Breakfast is at the sister's hotel next door, the Seabird Bird Hotel. It wasn't too far of a walk so it didn't bother us much at all. A couple of complaints: the pillows are too flat and they charged us 3 different prices when we ordered the old fashion with house bourbon. And you can't charge food & drinks from the Rooftop Bar to the room because they have a new POS which can be an inconvenience if you only have your room key. But otherwise it's a great hotel with lots of restaurants around it. Must try - the Parlor Doughnuts which is 5min walk from the hotel. Will certainly come back again. read more

I live locally and have visited the bar numerous occasions so I recommended my family stay. Everything went so smoothly! Our room and view was beautiful, we chose a partial view, and we could see the beach & pier well. The only downfall was that we were really looking forward to have drinks at the roof top pool but there was no where to put our things, all available seating was taken and the only open had reservation tags. We decided to just walk the pier, everything is so close it's such a convenient choice. Other down fall was $45 valet parking - we didn't use but I originally planned to stay the night but decided against it, opted to park in the $5 lot across the street until bedtime AKA 12am. MPBR was a second travel option for me. My first choice was a location in the West Indies. However, I changed my mind and opted to travel to my second choice. I must say I made the right choice. The lobby's decor, views from the roof top (sunsets), gym, roof top bar/restaurant, roof top pool/hot tub (including a DJ in the evening) dining options. Did I mention AM yoga class poolside. The views of the beach/ocean are spectacular! This is a perfect location. The beach town of Oceanside is great! It offers a little bit of everything. If your every in the area. My husband and I stayed here with our 2 year old for our 10 year anniversary celebration. All of the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful but Erick went above and beyond for us. We were able to upgrade our city view room to an oceanfront suite and he even provided my daughter with a little gift bag with bubbles a bluey book and a little toy. Our room was gorgeous and my favorite was taking a nice bath in the giant soaking tub. The staff left a really sweet card with chocolates for our anniversary which was such a nice touch. All of the food at this hotel and the sea bird was seriously the BEST food I've ever had. Not even the best hotel food, but BEST EVER. The hotel and all of the furnishings are gorgeous. There are really nice areas to sit and relax and the furniture in the room are all very comfortable. A few small things which affected losing one star. 1. The curtains let in a lot of light which is tough to be able to sleep in. 2. There are not enough hooks/racks to hang towels or wet things (like bathing suits) 3. There isn't really a lot to do as far as window shopping or walking around. There's the beach and pool but outside of the hotel there's nothing (not really the hotels fault). 4. The main strip is SO LOUD and seems a bit trashy for the niceness of the hotel. (Again, not really their fault). 5. The website says there's a mini fridge in the room. It's more of a beverage cooler and ours did not get cold AT ALL. We requested a mini fridge which we ended up getting towards the end of our first day. We had milk and snacks for our daughter that needed to be refrigerated but we got one in time before things went bad. It just would've been nice if we had this information ahead of time. We checked in after a round of birthday golf in the area and was pleasantly greeted by Jorge. This was booked through Amex Platinum so an upgrade was included if available but after he noticed it was my birthday, Jorge went above and beyond. He upgraded us to a gorgeous ocean view and we really appreciated his professionalism. The room very clean, spacious and comfortable with warm California decor. Our room had a great ocean view and it was beautiful! My wife and I loved everything about it. The ocean is right across the street and the walk along the beach and the pier was very enjoyable. Our experience for breakfast at The Piper in their sister hotel started off with a hostess who acted like she did not want to be there and lacked communication skills but the server and food made up for her. Just checked in today 11/16/25 . Already not too happy with this hotel . Stayed here many times before even when it was newly opened . The service has gotten BAD. The front desk employee that checked me in looked disheveled and looked like he had a bad night . Unfriendly and unaccommodating ,requested to have an early check in due to a migraine . Drove 2 hrs in traffic from Orange County and this is the kind of reception you get ??? For the amount of $$$ you pay for your stay and exorbitant resort fees .., this is the kind of treatment you get??? Deeply disappointing. 1. If you're going to charge $600 a night for a room in Oceanside, you better check EVERY SINGLE BOX 2. An unusable refrigerator because it is stuffed with sales items 3. Cheesy packing tape all over the ceiling in our room and on picture frames. 4. Dirty comforter covers 5. A thermostat that can't decide rather it should air condition at walk in freezer temps or turn the heat on. You get both 6. $45 daily valet fee to keep your car safe. What?!? 7. Locking doors for security on your floor (because you're in Oceanside) that are jammed into the unlocked position. 8. No bathtub. Showers may look nice but are impractical for relaxation. Usually stay in Carlsbad but this getaway we decided on staying in Oceanside. The hotel is conveniently located across from the Oceanside Pier. There are plenty of dining options to choose from. The Mission Pacific hotel appears to be newly built, in fact it seems that about 2 block radius of new development surrounding hotel. Upon checking in the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, they are very informative on the amenities available. They recognized my Hyatt status and received an upgrade which was very nice perk to our getaway. The Partial Ocean View Room was just perfect. Located on the 2nd floor we thought the street noise would come through but luckily it did not. The room had a ample king bed, plenty of sitting areas, a balcony, view of the top gun house, unique bathroom doors that overall contributed to making the room not feel crammed. Bathroom shower had multiple settings and a hand held. They have in room robes and slippers. Each room has complimentary reusable water bottles with filling stations on every floor. The view from the Rooftop bar is amazing at night and the pool is also located on the roof top. We went up on Sunday night with the DJ playing very much the adult vibe we need for our days away. The pool has plenty of chairs, they provide towels, and will come take drink and food order. There is only valet at $44 dollars a night but they quickly retrieve your car. You can also visit the Seabird with a day pass to use their pool and gym. 100% enjoyed stay here and would recommend. Even with the holiday it still didn't feel crowded which was a plus. read more

This was our first visit to Mission Pacific in Oceanside CA! The hotel staff provided our family with excellent treatment, particularly in regards to our Hyatt Globalist status. It's always nice to feel valued as a guest, and Mission Pacific's staff did a fantastic job in making sure we are all taken cared of during our stay. Special shoutout to Cynai and Ashley for their hospitality. The room itself was spotless and spacious. The Sanctuary Suite Ocean View certainly is a luxurious and comfortable place to spend the night, and the views made for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. This hotel is a brand new property, it's wonderful to be provided with such a high level of service and accommodations. It was eight friends and we all arrived separately. When the last couple arrived they took long and we only saw one come in. We asked what happened and she said her fiancee was declined entrance. We all wondered why since we were well dressed. She told us the security guard saw his id and since was a Mexican citizen he was not allowed inside. We are latinos but US citizens, he was not he was here just for the party. The security guard told him that NO MEXICANS OR CANADIENS were allowed to enter the place and even said "absolutely no way". ". We all ended up leaving since we had not even ordered or only two had ordered of us. They even asked us if we wanted to close the tap when we were not even served yet and humiliated by this racist behavior. Am i wrong for feeling angry? What can we do if anything?
