I had the WORST BAD LUCK on sunday morning. My car got broken into during my hike and my car door lock was damaged. I was dealing with my insurance, honda pasadena/ downey, and a different business i found on yelp and neither of those three options were offering a low cost and efficient solution. I was so LUCKY to come across good lock and key. They only asked me to pick up the part and they would install it. So i did just that and honestly I am much more relieved, stress free and no longer anxious. I am so happy that Good Lock & Key was able to help me in such sort notice. The work was done within maybe 20 minutes. The gentleman provided us water and insisted we sit inside and out of the heat. I called for an estimate, they said they had to come see the lock that needed to be replaced. They estimated a price that was so much higher than their estimate and made the job more complicated than it was. I called ahead and told them that we needed a car key/remote copied and chip-programmed for my daughter's 2012 Mazda3. They said that if we brought the car to their shop it would only be $65. It was a warm day and the owner, Mike, was very friendly and even gave us bottles of cold water! His son went to work immediately and eventually discovered that the chip inside the new key was faulty. (I had bought the new blank key/remote online). Usually, this is where a locksmith (or car Dealership) would say that we needed to buy another key/remote from them. But, they very nicely said they could cannibalize a new chip from one of their own new keys and replace ours. It was only $30 and was very nice of them. For one hundred and forty five dollars ($145) plus tax I got an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement fob programmed to unlock, lock the doors and open/close the tailgate for my 2010 Honda Pilot and of course start the engine. The whole process took about fifteen minutes. I am very pleased and highly recommend Good Lock & Key. We misplaced one of our two fobs. I went to a locksmith in Pasadena and for $100 they could order a key blank to be able to start the engine but not unlock, lock the doors and open/close the tailgate (the three buttons). I told them I really like being able to unlock and lock the doors with the remote. I asked if they knew someone who could program the fob. They recommended Good Lock & Key. I called them and spoke to Mike who quoted $145 and I asked if they had the replacement fob in stock and if I could stop by in about ten minutes - he said that if I have at least one working fob the answer is yes. I showed up and someone took my working fob and walked into the back parking lot and tested to make sure it worked and then he got a box full of stuff and rummaged around and pulled out something and took it out of the plastic wrapper and threw the wrapper in the trash can near the front counter where I was standing. I took the wrapper out of the trash and it said HONDA genuine parts and the serial number 35118-SZA-A12, which I googled when I got home and it said "Key, Immobilizer & Transmitter (Driver 1) (Blank) - Honda (35118-SZA-A12)". It has been working great for several days now. I did some research and I understand that there are three parts to replacing the fob: buying the fob blank, laser cutting the key to go into the ignition switch and programming the fob with some hand held device that is connected to the car computer. I understand that the dealer would have charged me several times what I paid at Good Lock & Key. I am very impressed how easy and relatively cheap it was to get the fob replaced at Good Lock & Key. I hope this review is helpful to someone who might need a replacement fob for their car. read more

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. On the same day as I was going to fly to New York for a work trip, I found my car broken into when parked on a street in Koreatown. I was both shocked and furious especially since this was the first time I ever had this happen to me. Along with a broken windshield, the person who broke into my car also tried to steal my car by sticking things into my ignition to try and get the car started. I found this place through Yelp while I was in New York, and they were the first to respond, call, and provide a reasonable quote. They were able to come to my place on the same day as I got back into LA and fix everything remote. Fortunately, it just required a repair rather than a complete replacement. They found a pen clip stuck inside the ignition so it must not have been a professional car thief. This shop remained professional, patient, and understanding throughout the process while I was frustrated and angry at the world. I had bought some really nice locks for four different doors at my house, but ended up with too many keys. Needed to consolidate them and needed to do some rekeying. Requested a bid from Milad, and he was very quick with his response. He gave me the best price for both the rekeying and to do some key copies as well. Professional, polite, and quick (pinged him at 8pm, came out at 4pm the next day). He charged me $180 to make 6 duplicate keys and rekey 5 cylinders.
