My friend locked us out of the house one day during July, and we called a different locksmith earlier who took over an hour to basically do nothing. He picked at it, tried using an electric pick, tried bumping the lock, but nothing worked. In the end he charged us $240 even though he didn't manage to open it. Frustrating experience. Based on the reviews on Yelp, I called up the shop to change out the locks on the front door, back door, and mailbox in January. A technician came out, did the job, and gave a set of new keys. We were very pleased with the work although the front door lock was a little harder to turn than the original lock, which was more than 10 years old. But all in all, the locks were changed. Now it's May, and the front door lock does not fully lock all the way, maybe about 3/4. And it requires a lot more elbow grease than one normally would use to lock the door. I called up the shop yesterday to see if someone can come by and check it out. First thing this morning the owner Mike shows up and inspect the front door. He says the combination that his guy replaced works perfectly fine and is not the issue. He continues to take apart the door lock and handle. He removes the latch, takes it to his van, and comes back to the front door to reinstall it. He finishes up by putting everything back together and tells me that the latch was not straight. But I told him that for 10 years the original lock was so smooth until the combination was changed. He did not want to talk any further and asked if he could give me the invoice. I guess he just wanted his $65 for the service call (which he ended up settling for $60 after I was still trying to understand why the additional charge). I'm always a supporter for local businesses. But when a business owner himself doesn't provide a good customer experience, then it is hard to get loyal customers or referrals. read more

This is a very honest company, which is honestly not always easy to find (:P) I had contacted them on a recommendation from one of my family members regarding replacing a 2015 Honda Fit Smart Key. They quoted me about $60 or so under dealership price, and since it was recommended by someone I trust and who currently uses a car key replacement from them, I decided to go through with the service. There was some miscommunication in the beginning. I called twice because I wasn't sure how busy they would be, and it was near holidays. One person told me that I had to put a down payment on the key, fill out some information and come back when the key was ordered. Another person told me that I could just come in and get the key programmed. The former ended up being true, which makes more sense considering not many people are losing keys to new cars (or you'd hope not) like stupid me, and they didn't have spares readily available. But it still kinda annoyed me that I had to come back. Anyway, it took about a week for the key to arrive at their shop, and they called me twice when it came in. Once by Mike, who mainly does the key programming, and once by the owner. Likely because I called in the meantime to make sure the order was being processed, and they wanted to assure me it had. A few days later I went in to pick up the smart key fob, have the valet key cut, and have it programmed. My mistake was that the key I thought I lost was in my car the whole time...I just somehow missed it the first few times I searched my entire car. That was the main reason the programming didn't work while I was at the shop. The guy was apologetic and told me they would come out to me since I had already gone to them twice. So they came out to me the same day, a few hours later. Unfortunately, the systems they use to program keys wasn't up to date with my 2015 Honda Fit. After an hour or so of trying to figure out if they could fix the key on the spot, Mike had to reschedule another time to come out to me. Thankfully I work from home, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Plus I had a key, well two keys at that point, and so I wasn't stranded or worried about not having a spare. Anyway, the second time Mike came out with his systems updated. While it took a couple of hours to have the third spare key programmed, I was impressed by the fact that he thoroughly explored every option and every possibility as to why it wasn't programming until he finally found the solution. I was also extremely impressed by the fact that they didn't charge me extra for the amount of work that went into programming this key. I mean, it took them 3 days as opposed to 30 minutes. Most places would exponentially raise the cost of labor for that much extra work and travel time. In the end, despite the initial miscommunication and unsuccessful trip to them, I'm a very satisfied customer who now has 2 spare car keys instead of zero! And hopefully my experience will help another unlucky 2015+ Honda Fit customer who finds themselves without a spare key, or worse. read more
