Mike was a tremendous help! He showed up in under 20 minutes to replace the lock on a custom made mailbox. The lock was damaged, and a thule lock removal key was not going to work. Went to the dealership, apparently with the key code from the passenger cylinder lock they were not able to make the key (wrong number and they didn't have it in their database). They replaced two door knobs and one dead bolt, rekeyed everything (including a door that didn't need a new knob) and cut lots of spare keys (including some spare keys for the padlocks on my gates). My friend locked us out of the house one day during July, and we called a different locksmith earlier who took over an hour to basically do nothing. He picked at it, tried using an electric pick, tried bumping the lock, but nothing worked. In the end he charged us $240 even though he didn't manage to open it. Frustrating experience. Then we called Good Lock & Key after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp. This is a very honest company, which is honestly not always easy to find (:P) I had contacted them on a recommendation from one of my family members regarding replacing a 2015 Honda Fit Smart Key. They quoted me about $60 or so under dealership price, and since it was recommended by someone I trust and who currently uses a car key replacement from them, I decided to go through with the service. There was some miscommunication in the beginning. I called twice because I wasn't sure how busy they would be, and it was near holidays. One person told me that I had to put a down payment on the key, fill out some information and come back when the key was ordered. Another person told me that I could just come in and get the key programmed. The former ended up being true, which makes more sense considering not many people are losing keys to new cars (or you'd hope not) like stupid me, and they didn't have spares readily available. But it still kinda annoyed me that I had to come back. Anyway, it took about a week for the key to arrive at their shop, and they called me twice when it came in. Once by Mike, who mainly does the key programming, and once by the owner. Likely because I called in the meantime to make sure the order was being processed, and they wanted to assure me it had. A few days later I went in to pick up the smart key fob, have the valet key cut, and have it programmed. My mistake was that the key I thought I lost was in my car the whole time...I just somehow missed it the first few times I searched my entire car. That was the main reason the programming didn't work while I was at the shop. The guy was apologetic and told me they would come out to me since I had already gone to them twice. So they came out to me the same day, a few hours later. Unfortunately, the systems they use to program keys wasn't up to date with my 2015 Honda Fit. After an hour or so of trying to figure out if they could fix the key on the spot, Mike had to reschedule another time to come out to me. Thankfully I work from home, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Plus I had a key, well two keys at that point, and so I wasn't stranded or worried about not having a spare. Anyway, the second time Mike came out with his systems updated. While it took a couple of hours to have the third spare key programmed, I was impressed by the fact that he thoroughly explored every option and every possibility as to why it wasn't programming until he finally found the solution. I was also extremely impressed by the fact that they didn't charge me extra for the amount of work that went into programming this key. I mean, it took them 3 days as opposed to 30 minutes. Most places would exponentially raise the cost of labor for that much extra work and travel time. In the end, despite the initial miscommunication and unsuccessful trip to them, I'm a very satisfied customer who now has 2 spare car keys instead of zero! And hopefully my experience will help another unlucky 2015+ Honda Fit customer who finds themselves without a spare key, or worse. read more

I went to Good Lock & Key on March 2nd 2017 - asked about getting a new key made they are extremely polite and very professional. Even though my key is not the normal run of the mill keys to get redone and comes at a much higher price - it was definitely worth getting it done at Good Lock & Key. Came in with a broken Fiat FOB- actual key broke off of the FOB and I bought an uncut FOB (eBay $12). Mike took the two apart and switched out the chip (programmed part) and cut my key in 10min!!!! Couldn't be happier with the way this turned out!!! read more
