I've been going to this restaurant occasionally for over 5 years and the food is always consistently good. I love an everyday breakfast and I always get a great meal here. My go to is the peameal bacon special. It comes with homefries, 3 eggs and toast. More than enough to fill you and cooked perfectly every time. Prices are very reasonable as well. I've dined in and taken out and both are great experiences. As mentioned, the staff are super friendly and patient. The space is large with high ceiling and lots of space. We found GMF on Yelp while visiting Toronto for the National Bank Open. A nice little diner style restaurant in an easy to access and not overly busy plaza. Smoked Salmon Omelette: Good portions and came with home fries. Could really taste the salmon in the omelette and the cheese. Came on a weekend morning for brunch. The location was very spacious and we were seated quickly as well as got our food served quickly. as well. The server was very attentive in getting us drinks, water and anything else we needed. The food itself was a large portion and very filling. They chick breast was very well-seasoned and the wedges were not too salty (which I personally liked as sometimes fries can be way too salt). The signature burger was interesting as well with its poached eggs. Can I say healthy greasy spoon? Does that work? We came here for a late brunch and was not disappointed. The food was excellent and the staff was slow early but quick late. No real complaints there. We are so happy to find this gem of a breakfast spot. It is tucked away in a business area so it is easy to overlook. However, it is very busy on the weekends and there was a steady stream of patrons while we were there. Perfect place to do a little people watching as families, couples, elderly, singles and friends gather over a plate of breakfast. We had the Weekender (pancakes, eggs, house fries, bacon) and the Western egg sandwich. Nothing was too greasy, eggs cooked to asking, crispy bacon and fluffy pancakes. We found this lovely gem of a restaurant through Yelp and it was tucked away among many commercial buildings. We came here around 10am and the beautiful sun was beaming in through the large windows. What a way to start the morning! There's a good amount of free parking available and we saw many regulars come in (that's always a good sign). We also love how it is very spacious in between the tables which allowed you to have your privacy but still feel your among others enjoying their meal and starting the day. There is a wide variety of dishes on the menu, good portions, great prices, and coffee is unlimited. The waitresses often came by to refill our cups with coffee. We will definitely be coming back. My friend at work told me about this place. It looks run down outside. Honestly, if my friend didn't recommend this, I don't think I would have checked it out. But stepping in is very nice, has a warm and rustic look. Waitress are happy and friendly with nice big smile. I ordered the egg Benny, usually I hate the English muffin and won't eat that. This place is thin and nice, a little crispy and I can even pick it up with my hand. The home fries were nice and puffy. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. My wife and I have been going there for weekend breakfast for a number of years. I came here for a weekend brunch and decided not to revisit this place given the really rude service I was provided. I ordered a dish with fried eggs included. Since I had strict dietary restrictions, I specifically asked to have the egg well done. When the food was ready, I was careful enough to find out the egg yolk was not fully cooked and I requested to cook it a bit longer. The server (a middle-aged white lady) was really rude and taught us a lesson as we didn't know what well done meant. The restaurant is hidden in a plaza -- and to be honest, from the outside, it comes off as very plain; however, when you step into the establishment, it is very aesthetically-pleasing! It definitely reminds me of the many cute cafes in Seoul, South Korea -- and to no surprise, I am pretty sure the owners are Korean (since the whole staff is). AmaZing breakfast. First we went to Cora's up the street and the crazy wait times on a Sunday morning pushed us to Friends. The place itself is clean, super spacious, great look. From the start very friendly, attentive service that continued throughout the meal. I got the weekender, 3 eggs your choice (sunny side up-a bit under cooked), 2 pancakes (best thing on the plate. The bf stole them-typical), and choice of bacon/sausage/ham, AND homefries. Great deal for ($13), I was SUPER full, so was the bf. We left happy, and $56 lighter. Pretty good trade deal in my opinion. It seems as if they are sometimes short staffed so it might take a bit for them to get back to you but it wasn't a long wait at all. Atmosphere? Loft-y style. Finally had the chance to stop by this place since I keep driving past it every now and then. From the outside, you probably wouldn't be able to tell that this place isn't so bad, considering it's in a plaza that's saturated with other stores/services. Albeit the food isn't anything over the top or special, and the prices are pretty comparable to most breakfast/brunch places, it was okay. I ordered the eggs benedict with ham and those thick potato cubes. Coffee refills are free, and water comes with a slice of lime! There's desserts just by the washroom (kept behind glass in a refrigerated display of course - lol desserts by the bathroom sounds weird but just had to clarify lol) and the ladies' bathroom is pretty decent. Almost scared myself senseless as I realized there was another mirror behind me and thought some lady was right there - meanwhile it was JUST ME! Ugh lol. There's a changing station for babies and cute sayings on the walls about friendship, self-love and feel good vibes so I appreciated that. Waitresses and waiters are friendly and their services are excellent. Ordered a Florentine Egg Benedict with fresh fruits and Ham with a cup of latte. Latte: The latte is delicious. The proportion of milk and coffee is well balanced. The taste of coffee just strong enough to touch your tastebud. Benedict: it tastes so delicious. It is different from the Benedicts I have had at other chain restaurants. The hollandaise sauce is excellent!! It is smooth and creamy. The flavour is unique and yet tasty. The ham blended well with the spinach and the eggs and hollandaise sauce. Usually ham is a bit salty but this is not the case. The taste is just right! The Benedict comes with a lot of fresh fruits, strawberries, bananas, honeydews, grapes, oranges, cantaloupe, and pineapple etc. My breakfast is excellent! I have a good start on a Saturday morning. We stood by the door for 10 minutes waiting to be seated (several empty tables). Then we waited another 15 minutes sitting at the table for someone to take our order, at which point we just got up and left. During the time we waited, more people were piling in at the door and again, no hostess seated them. After seeing this, we realized how short staff they were and that we would not be getting any service so we left. There were two waitresses for a restaurant that has the capacity of 90 people. They need two more waitresses and a hostess. One waitress was angry and stomping around because it was so busy and she had to clean the tables in addition to seat people. It was brutal today. We MIGHT try again... maybe but if we see they're short staffed again, we most likely won't stay for the bad service (or lack of service) that we would get. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday with some friends I love how spacious and open this place is - unlike a lot of other breakfast places where they cram every table next to each other and give you no room to move (not the case here at all). Plus there was no wait - another huge bonus And we didn't feel pressured to pay our bill and leave the second we were done. I went for brunch on Sunday and the place was decently busy. My sister and I were promptly seated but our server took a while to bring us water and take our order. Even after we ordered, it took half an hour to get our food and our server never stopped by to refill our water. Another employee ended up checking on the status of our order, which we appreciated and made sure we were satisfied with the food. I had order an expensive steak breakfast with a mixed fruit salad with a coffee, delivered by UberEats. When I received it from the Uber driver, he told me the coffee was spilled. I asked him to inform the restaurant. He did not respond. I called the restaurant, the lady on the phone said that must be the driver who spilled it. I was trying to say whoever spilled it, I am a victim in this case. As coffee was all over the bag of foods, went through the eggs and steaks which was packed with sterofoam. I asked the lady how did she expect me to pay $32 for a steak and coffee breakfast. Regardless who's fault I know was not mine. But she refused to refund this spilled breakfast. I used to order from Tim Horton or McDonalds, they use much dependable / and kind of non-spill lid, but this cheap restaurant uses lids that won't guarantee non spill. Even the coffee cup was on a paper tray, packing skill or driving skill will spill the coffee. However, my question is, why me, why I have to pay for this meal which I did not consume and never enjoy. Bad customer service and no guts to take accountability of giving me a free meal ($32) and yet, the lady asked me to write on their website. OK, here I am. Avoid this restaurant if anyone considers delivery, or if a coffee is included. To start with, the server has no experience in the packing and no one doing after service care. Since they prepare to lose goodwill by encouraging me to write on their website, I just follow instruction. In fact to prove I was not making it up, I wanted to upload a photo, but there was no upload tool. Not sure about other eaters, I would definitely recommend avoid this restaurant, regardless how delicious the foods are, they ripped me off with a coffee, which they should deal separately with Ubereat and absorb the loss. When we got there we saw waitresses were very busy serving customers but they totally forgot people who are waiting to be seated. There were many empty tables while we are waiting. I saw a couple left because they felt being ignore. Until we waved the waitress multiple time and then she acknowledge to give us a seat. The only bad review for this place complained about the manager not having time just for them, but I'm sure its because they were swarmed and not thinking straight.
