I'm digging it. The bar is tucked away on Congress next to the Rialto, and honestly, if you're not looking for it, you probably won't find it. I'm okay with that, as it gives the bar a bit more of a speakeasy vibe. The beer and wine are local, and it seems that the offerings change pretty frequently. Last night, a few friends and I got dinner here, and although the menu doesn't seem vegetarian friendly, as soon as I asked, they surprised me with several options. I had the BLTA, swap the bacon for cheese. It was substantial, and they didn't skimp on the avocado, which I appreciate. I also tried a fried pickle, and boy, was it good. Good Oak is a lovely little hole in the wall joint tucked in next to the Rialto Theatre. It's small, but a top notch place to grab a drink and have a good conversation. It's small and intimate, yet not closed off. They've got a great selection of drinks, including lots of local beers and some rad specialty drinks (like their beer presses). Totally fair prices. Nice happy hour deal (half off wines and beers). I'm always happy to come here. read more

Absolutely wonderful place I'm sure to miss in Tucson now that I've moved on. The atmosphere is great, and I love how except on the busiest of nights, the small room doesn't ever feel crowded. The big windows looking onto Congress are an added bonus. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. I absolutely love the all-local selection, even if that at times means the beer choices aren't the absolutely best/that diverse (One complaint...how often the Papago Orange Blossom is on tap...always). Even if they aren't my first choices, I will choose this location for the atmosphere, the prices, that I'm almost certain to run into a friend--even on a random weeknight--and that there are these fun beer presses to try if I'm not into the night's selection. We stop by Good Oak on a Friday night. I ordered "French 75" and it was delicious ! J had a porter with Chai press and he loved it too. People comment on how good the fried pickles were so we placed an order. I was not impressed though. For some reasons warm pickles just were not appealing to me. The atmosphere was great: cozy, comfort, and intimate. Good Oak is a great place for good drinks and conversations ! We will definitely come back. read more

I loooooooove this bar so much. It's really easy to miss so you have to look closely for it. It's a bar that only serves local beer and wine so it's not the place to go if you're looking for a whiskey. Their beer list changes pretty regularly, but always has the orange blossom on it which is delicious. I highly recommend one of the beer presses. It's a French press but instead of water and coffee, you get beer and one of the menu options. I had one with a wheat ale pressed with lemon peel, hibiscus, and ginger. It was pretty tasty. You let the press "brew" for about 5-7 minutes. Also. Get an order of the fried pickles. Sooooo yummy! read more

Great place for a laidback drink - not too loud, and a cool ambience. We stuck to beer and wine, and the beers are a short list of local pours, all good choices. The only thing that could be improved is if the food menu was just a bit more extensive (though if you really want the full Diablo Burger menu, you could go next door and eat there). But the only entree options at the bar are a burger (or veggie burger) or tacos. Would be great if there were a few more bar food options to snack on. But overall, food was tasty, vibe was hip/cozy, and the bartender was great! read more

Loved the atmosphere when we walked in but the service and the food were not great. There was only one person running the bar and restaurant on a Friday evening. We kind of assumed they had a call out so we tried to give the bartender a break and we were as patient as we could be. An explanation as to the slow, non attentive service would have gone a long way. Maybe even a smile or two. We sat at the end of the bar and the glare on the board made it so we couldn't see what was written. We both got the burger and it was dry, unseasoned and came on what looked to be two different buns. One thing I must say though, is that they have the best fried pickles we have ever had. We only had a couple of drinks because it is definitely pricey. All the wine cocktails were $9/10. It is not a place we recommend or would return to. read more

I came here for happy hour and had delicious $3 fried pickles and beer. The atmosphere was really appealing and relaxing. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgable about their drink selection and recommended something I thoroughly enjoyed. Been here a couple times now, and both experiences have been pretty good. This place sits right in between Diablo Burger and The Rialto, but can be easy to miss as it's well hidden along the building facade ~ think "speakeasy". The interior is dimly lit with dark accents, and has ample room at the bar, as well as booth table seating. The menu consists of a number of draft beers and local wines, as well as a few odd concoctions of highly stylized sangrias as well as "beer presses" (with coffee, and tea). They also have a limited menu of food options, with the Fried Pickles being my favorite ~ seriously, get them, they're incredible. On my most recent visit, my friend tried the "Melo Yelo" white sangria, which we both agreed tasted a little sour / pickled. We notified the bartender, who agreed as well and was eager to make it up to us by replacing with one of their wines by-the-glass. The service, while very friendly and accommodating, can tend to be slow (especially at peak hours). read more

I considered this place a hidden gem. I like that unlike most of the bars downtown, this place is quiet. You can actually have a conversation! It is quaint but that is also another reason I love this place. Make sure to snag a seat the first chance you get -- especially the booths! This place also has my husband's FAVORITE beer, Papago's orange blossom and is the only place I know that has the beer with the coffee press. The food here is okay. We've tried their burger and fried pickles(which were pretty good) but I would rather eat somewhere else and come here to unwind and drink. We've been here several times and will only continue to come. read more

My favorite place to hang out in Tucson. It's never too crowded, plus the bartenders are amazing. They have great personalities and are eager to please. A newish hole in the wall located next door to the Rialto. The Good Oak Bar is free of pomp, circumstance, and douchebros, unlike nearby Hi-Fi and World of Beer. Everything is locally sourced from Arizona - the beer, the wine, and the food. They always have interesting beer selections, but the quality does drive up the price. The coffee-beer press is a must-try. It's delicious, but quite bizarre. If you're a super nerd like myself, you can grab a spot at the end of the dark bar and order up a steak sandwich just like Harry Dresden. read more

This place is fantastic! My boyfriend and I went here before a concert at the Rialto and it did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in we loved the place...the entire ambiance is exactly what I look for in a restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. They also had one of my favorite beers on tap that I can't usually find anywhere else in Tucson! My mind was made up at that point! And then the food came...I don't even like pickles - but their fried pickles are amazing. Seriously. And then the burger with the delicious home-made chips came!!! Aside from Gordon Ramseys restaurant Burgr in Vegas - this was my all time favorite burger...ever.
