Firstly, there's a posted sign announcing a change in hours: Instead of closing daily at four pm has been changed to 2pm with an explanation that the owners have been unable to find adequate staff. To this point, a single waitress juggled the whole front of the house. When I was there for breakfast, it was seven tables she was juggling, plus doing cashier. There's a wide screen TV with daytime talk shows. This makes the elderly patrons shout louder from one table to another. (It's a bit like being in a Florida restaurant). My wife and I both say that this is the best breakfast spot in the area! From the wait staff to the management to the cooks we are always more than happy with our service. Huge breakfast portions as well! Try their lunches and dinner as well as they are always running daily specials! It may look too fancy from the outside but don't let that deter you! First time dining here. Tried the New England Clam Chowder, which was so-so. For the Main Course, I ordered the Broiled Cajun Haddock, sides of Dinner Salad & Homefries with Raspberry Iced Tea. All were very good & my family agreed. I took the 3-layer Strawberry Cream Cake to-go from the extensive dessert case. No alcohol is served here Prices are reasonable at about 10.00-$15.00 for dinners or sandwiches. Soup is $5.00/bowl, $4.00/ cup. The piece of cake, which was quite large, was $6.00. The staff was friendly, even though they were very busy & our server, Kelly, was great. The interior was comfortable, although on the plain side. Local diners are our favorite places to eat, and Goode's is at the top of our list for great casual dining. This day, we had a Saturday shopping adventure planned at a home improvement store, and breakfast at Goode's seemed like a perfect way to start off the morning. You would probably drive right by this nondescript building in an unpaved, rutted parking lot unless you knew better. Let me tell you, this IS the place you should eat! You won't regret your decision. I ordered over-easy eggs, crispy hash browns with onions, homemade breakfast sausage, and rye toast. This morning, they were "out" of homemade rye, but the "store bought " rye was definitely a cut above, very much like artisan-style rye. Every bite of my meal was incredibly delicious and well prepared. Fully one-third of my meal would be boxed up to go. My dining companion ordered the three egg meat lovers omelet with choice of cheese and toast. Again, satisfying and delicious, and more than he could eat. We loaded up the takeout boxes, and ordered a slice of pie to go. The impressive pie menu is impossible to ignore, glowing neon on a prominent wall above the diners. Not an easy choice, selecting from among Lemon Supreme, Dutch Apple, Strawberry Rhubarb, and many others. Our choice was an obviously home-made blackberry deep- dish masterpiece, worth every penny at $4.99 a slice. Breakfast for two with coffee and a slice of pie to go rang in at $30 and change. Post pandemic, Goode's had adequate staff to cook and serve, refreshing to customers who are eager to venture out from their isolations. Located in the beautiful rural farm land in Collins NY. Goodes catered my Fathers funeral dinner. Everything was absolutely perfect. Food was ready on time, exactly as ordered. Plenty of professional staff on site. Food chaffers were always filled with hot, fresh food. My family and friends all raved about the food and service. Everything was cleaned up and out quickly. I like going to Goode's. My kids love to see the tank full of fish. Or even just seeing the squirrels outside the windows. Food is amazing! Especially the all you can eat biscuits and gravy. The goode burger is another favorite. Pies are amazing too. My favorite I still have yet to decide. Waitresses are always there with a smile. Very popular with the locals, so it can get very busy fast. Definitely reccomend this place for a good meal, eat-in or take-out. read more

Awesome prices and friendly service. I always get a bacon and cheese omelet and sausage on the side and The Omelette is loaded with bacon. Traveling through the area overnight we picked this particular restaurant because it was close to our AirBnB, just down the street. Several places in the area have fish fry's, which intrigued us, so fish and chips it was. The large portion, because we hadn't eaten all day, was very generous. Not sure what kind of fish it was but it tasted fresh and was cooked just right. The coleslaw tasted homemade and was crisp and not soggy . The fries were not anything special but they were hot and cooked perfectly. Also it was served with a dinner roll. They only suggestion I have is try and serve homemade fries, this would just take the dish up a notch or two. read more

Insofar as I am by myself out here in the lovely and grand Arizona Southwest, I NEVER treat my self to anyone else's breakfast offerings. BEST PANCAKES ON EARTH!!! You can smell them from the road. My sister and I smelled them from rt 62, just driving by and vowed to stop next time we went to Zoar. So glad we did (over 5 years ago) They are as good as they smell. Friendly....mostly locals, HUGE pieces of pie. Salt rising toast gets points, and the meat market next door sells breads and the hand shaped sausage patties the restaurant side serves, as well as the thick cut bacon. Servers always remember us, even though we only stop in during the summer and fall :) Great little place. They make breakfast sandwiches "to go"as well. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on a whim while passing through Collins. It was pretty awesome. They make their own breakfast sausages which were almost the size of a hamburger. They bake their own breads. I had the rye that was excellent. My son had a monster breakfast that included 2 eggs 2 huge pancakes homefries. 3 sausage pattys 3 thick cut bacon also made there and toast for about 9 dollars. I would definitely make the 25 mile trip to go there again. Didn't try the desserts but they were huge and looked really good. read more

Their fish fry used to be really great, but in the last year, after they've done remodeling, Goodes' prices haves gone up and the quality of their food has suffered. In particular, the fish fry looked good, but the fish was extremely dry and was actually tough & chewy. So un-appetizing. The fish was not flaky and moist like it should be. The German potato salad was cold and had lumps of cornstarch in it. The only thing that still tasted good was the cole slaw. Even the sweet potato fries were super thin and deep fried to a frazzle. I live fairly close to Goode's but won't be going there anymore. read more

If you're hungry for a delicious, home cooked breakfast with friendly attentive wait staff, you've come to the right place. I've been here on several occasions, always for breakfast. It's our usual breakfast joint after the morning hunt during deer season. It's a small family restaurant across from the Collins correctional facility. You walk in and seat yourself. My last visit was on Sunday morning. Typically I see the same waitress every time I'm here. It was strange that she wasn't this particular time, but there was no drop off in courteous service and a never ending cup of coffee. One of the specials was potato pancakes with butter and sour cream with homemade apple sauce. My brother and I each ordered these (I never pass when I see potato pancakes on the menu). They make their own breakfast sausage which I've come to love so I ordered a side as well. The food came out a short time later and didn't disappoint. Three large potato pancakes browned perfectly with just a hint of onion with a pad of butter and sour cream. The apple sauce was warm and had nice chunks of soft apple mixed throughout. The sausage delivered as it always does. All in all, another good experience at Goode's. The bill was around $25 for two large breakfasts that left us both satisfied. read more

Ive read all the other reviews and totally disagree with a few of them , never had any cold food thatsfor sure , the food is always excellent . Maybe the complainers are the the ones that come in regular but never tip or just leave coins and they don't understand that some of the ladies have mouths to feed at home and they might give back what they get knowing your not gonna tip anyways . Maybe some of you should wakeup and realize that they want to be treated like regular people and are just trying to make a living like you . If its so bad then quit going there then stay home instead of malking it look like the service is bad cause I gaurantee its not . All day breakfast!! Thick cut bacon and everything cooked to perfection. You must try the french toast. This is stick to your ribs home cooking and friendly service to boot. With the meat market right next door, the meat selections on the menu are delectable. My neighbor goes bonkers for their roast beef. And the pies? Oh my!
