We noticed a large amount of cars outside this restaurant for breakfast and decided to stop by for dinner. It's close to Holiday Valley & Holimont ski resorts and worth the 15 minute drive from both. The interior is airplane themed, as the restaurant sits near an airport ("fly-in"), and is pretty basic so don't go for the ambiance. Even though the ski resorts bring a lot of tourists this a locals spot that maintained a good crowd throughout the evening. Even with a crowd we were seated immediately and our waitress was great. We were there for their special Friday Fish Fry. The menu had the standard homestyle cuisine and they offerred several other specials. I went with the fish special and my wife chose the chicken parm. The fish was breaded, moist and delicous. The chicken parm dish was a lot of food but also really tasty. We left really full and our bill was under $40 for the two of us. Firstly, we went there on a Monday afternoon in bad weather in the summer, so it was probably locals: The average age was about 70, so there were lots of people shouting to be heard. The Greek salad with grilled chicken was fantastic; a mushroom-swiss burger with special house curly fries was huge and spectacular. There was a single waitress for the whole room, but we were all ably managed. A word about the decor: It's mostly propellers, with some WWII posters. The airstrip is across the street. read more

Stopped in on a Thursday evening. We were driving by and this place looked inviting. Very clean establishment and the staff was very friendly as well. We ordered drinks and the meatloaf meal to split as we were traveling and were trying not to have leftovers. The food was great and the portions were huge. It was definitely enough to fill us up. Katy's Fly In is a stop we make often when enroute home from visiting family in PA and we are always well-fed!! The food is always top notch (except maybe the tomato slice on my sandwich this time that wasn't quite ripe even during mid harvest season, that was slightly disappointing). But the rest of the meal certainly made up for that! I ordered "The Landing". It is a regular item on the menu, but it was my first time having it---wonderful!! And the sidewinder fries are the BEST! Crispy on the outside and delectable on the inside. The other dinner we ordered was a special of the day of stuffed banana peppers with beef and pork, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce served over spaghetti. Both of our dinners were of very generous portions and we enjoyed them again for a second meal at home! Ordered the coconut crusted haddock and asked for the sweet chile glaze to be put on the side since the waitress couldn't say for sure how hot it was. Both orders came with the glaze completely covering the fish and it was HOT. Completely ruined the fish and neither one of us ate even a third of the fish. Restaurant had no baked potatoes or the Gorgonzola cheese for one of their steak entrees. Was a total disappointment. We may go back but will stick with pizza or burger. My younger daughter and I had a lunchtime meal here while waiting for the rain to stop over at Holiday Valley. We each ordered a sandwich to try...she got the portobello mushroom sandwich and i had the (single) Eddy burger. My daughter really enjoyed her sandwich, which came with the mushroom and a bunch of other grilled vegetables in a balsamic dressing. Her sandwich came with a curly fry concoction that was really tasty. My burger looked very diner-esque when it arrived. I had asked for medium-rare, but was unaware it was a very thin patty, so no pink whatsoever on the meat. The burger was served with crinkle-cut fries which were not seasoned at all. So, we had a mixed bag on our meals but I would probably give them another try, especially for breakfast as so many others have pointed out. read more

A great place to eat in Great Valley, NY (about 4 miles from Ellicottville) -- it's right across the street from a little grass strip. Every Tuesday from 5-8pm in the summer time (May-October), there's a "fly-in" where pilots are encouraged to fly into the airstrip and eat at Katy's which is right across the street from the airport. If you want to "plane-watch," (like people watching, only more dangerous) I suggest coming here on a Tuesday this summer for some food. The place has recently been renovated and there's a nice outdoor patio and a large air conditioned space indoors as well. The menu is fairly basic, a lot of different burgers, wraps, salads and chicken wings. I've eaten here twice in the past year. Most recently, I had a Greek Salad with grilled chicken which was delicious. The olives, feta cheese, chicken, tomatoes all came together nicely for superbly healthy meal. I've also eaten a burger here back in October. I remember it being pretty delicious and they are never cooked from frozen according to the menu. I'd totally come back here and would be excited to try some of the chicken wings as well (they were out of them yesterday). Service has always been with a smile. Credit cards are accepted. read more
