    "The Landing"

Katy's Fly In is a stop we make often when enroute home from visiting family in PA and we are always well-fed!! The food is always top notch (except maybe the tomato slice on my sandwich this time that wasn't quite ripe even during mid harvest season, that was slightly disappointing). But the rest of the meal certainly made up for that! I ordered "The Landing". It is a regular item on the menu, but it was my first time having it---wonderful!! And the sidewinder fries are the BEST! Crispy on the outside and delectable on the inside. The other dinner we ordered was a special of the day of stuffed banana peppers with beef and pork, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce served over spaghetti. Both of our dinners were of very generous portions and we enjoyed them again for a second meal at home! Such an appreciated quality, affordable restaurant with such a friendly staff, always makes the last leg or our journey so pleasant and it is such a relief that I don't have to cook dinner when I get home!! Thanks!! See you soon at Katy's!!

In Ellicottville for a wedding- a 5k and half marathon was being held downtown so found this place on Yelp. Had 5 in our party was able to find a table for our party no waiting. Our waitress took our drink orders- several had beer - seemed like a good selection. The food was great. Two had their burgers - wife and I had patty melts and another had a salad. Everyone loved their meals. Perfectly cooked burgers. Fries can out hot like they should be. (Note: no wings the price of wings is very high - yep seems to be the same issue everywhere). Just a nice neighborhood spot maybe 5 miles from town. Worth the drive. Plenty of parking. It's a 5.

Katy's Fly-in is a must stop when in the area. the homey food, welcoming staff, and large table accommodations are just a few of the top reasons. They offer simple staples, like the basic egg, bacon, and cheese omelet with hash browns for less than 8$! We always make sure to get the fried grits too.

Breakfast bowl special. It was delicious. Very large and filling.

This is a nice family run business. The servings are large and the food is good. We'll be back again.

Portions were absolutely mammoth sized. I could only make it through a quarter of my meal. Food was fairly standard fare but it was good and mostly fresh, salad was on the wilted side. Prices were reasonable considering it is a tourist town. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again.

I went here today with my kids and some friends and their kids (ages 6 to 8 months). It being a Sunday at 1ish, we figured we'd miss the lunch rush and be able to cruise in and out. Somewhat surprisingly, it was pretty much full (which isn't a bad thing), but we got lucky and were able to sit within about 10 minutes. The place is quite fun with walled-off bar and table areas that adjoin at the front with an open space and the small music stage. The decor was cool with rough cut wood everywhere and TVs playing the Olympics (go US curling team!). And even though it was really busy, it wasn't all that loud given the number of people. Once we got seated though is where things started going off the rails a bit. It took a little bit for our server to come see us and then even more time to take our orders. The whole time she seemed either disinterested or distracted and certainly in a rush. I also got that same kind of vibe from the other servers I saw bouncing around too. In any event, we got our orders in and then it took them quite a while to come out as well even though we didn't get anything really special - pot roast poutine and side salad for me, cheeseburger and fries for my son, pizza with black olives for my daughter, and then our friends got chicken fingers and fries and I think maybe another cheeseburger or something. All in all, I think we ended up being there around an hour and a half through no fault of our own. For a beverage, I ordered myself an espresso martini. Now, mind you when I asked for a cocktail menu, they had none. They also "only" had 3 or 4 kinds of gin, to which our server told us that's not actually what it's called the "Gin" Mill for (not sure if that was sarcasm or serious). Either way, not really what I was expecting but oh well. It is a pub after all. On the flip side of that, I saw what looked like some really excellent looking cocktails being served up at the bar. Seems like a missed opportunity to me. On the food side, my side salad was pretty basic - lettuce, green pepper, tomato, and onion. I asked for balsamic and ended up getting two ranch. Oh well, I still like ranch. The pot roast poutine was absolutely epic though. Is it trying to actively kill me? Of course it is with all that fatty meat, greasy fries, and gravy. Aren't I allowed to splurge for the sake of you readers out there though? The roast was melt in your mouth tender and some big chunks of it to boot. I brought about 3/4 home and it made excellent leftovers for dinner too! The pizza was solid with a good cheese to sauce ratio, a nice, fluffy crust, and good overall taste and texture. I got a bite of my son's (plain) cheeseburger and it was also quite good with quality-looking bun and some really nice sear marks on the burger. The fries weren't my favorite with the sort of weird crunchy texture-style that like a Burger King has, but that's really just my personal preference. At around 230 is when the band started playing, which was an older couple playing some country tunes. My kids decided to go out and dance for a couple minutes, which the musicians seemed to get a kick out of. It was tough to make out the words she was singing, but it was a fun vibe regardless and it wasn't obnoxiously loud either. All in all (and cheating looking at some of the other reviews), it seems like this place has some front-of-house issues that need addressing but their food and drink are pretty solid. Since there's not a ton of food choices in town, I'd consider going again, but with EBC and others in walking distance, I guess there's not really any compelling reason that I should when I only make it down this way a couple times a year.

The food was excellent, but unfortunately the service really took away from the experience…read more We walked in around 9:00 p.m. and later realized the restaurant closed at 10:00, so we'll take responsibility for coming in late. However, from the moment we sat down, it felt like our presence was an inconvenience. We waited about 15 minutes before placing our order, and when we did, our waitress rolled her eyes and made us feel uncomfortable for ordering. We ordered Cajun wings and were never told there would be an additional $6 charge for the seasoning. Then, at 9:48 p.m., she came to our table and simply said, "My shift is ending, so I'm closing you out," without asking if we needed anything else or even offering a polite goodbye. Throughout our visit, we also noticed her spending time sitting with and hugging a man instead of checking on her tables. The food itself was fantastic, and we still left a $25 tip on a $74 bill because we believe in tipping for the kitchen staff and the service industry. That said, the service was disappointing and came across as very unprofessional. We understand arriving close to closing isn't ideal, but customers should still be treated with courtesy.

We had the entire back room to ourselves. Our waitress was attentive to our large group. It's definitely got a polished casual, wine bar sort of vibe to it so you can pretty much dress however you want. It's not the normal sort of place you'd go to for breakfast necessarily, but it was open and my friends swore by it. My kids got hot chocolates and the adults all got Irish coffees. The hot chocolates were decadent and delicious without being scorching hot. PERFECT for the kids! My friends loved their Irish coffees as their typical go-to. I like my coffee a bit on the sweeter/creamier side and this wasn't really it with a bit of that coffee bitterness still coming through that was a bit of a turnoff for me. That's just me and my personal taste though, so take it with a grain of salt. My kids shared a French toast with blueberries (no kids menu available, it seems) and it was HUGE. They will usually pound an adult portion of anything between the two of them and even this was too much. There were 2 extra thick slices to start and there was easily a half slice left, enough to fill a small to-go box up pretty solid. I got the burrito which came topped with salsa (ranchero) and cheddar cheese plus a side of shredded hash browns. The hash browns were half crispy and half limp but still quite tasty. The burrito itself was a good size though not enormous. While nothing mind blowing, especially for the $19 price tag, it was a solid meal overall. One of my friends got the lobster eggs benedict special and said it was life-changing. It was $24 and came with a massive hunk of lobster meat. For a $3 charge over the standard benedict, that's a steal and smartly priced for a good heaping of lobster. Getting the food out seemed to take a little bit of time, but the server was good about checking in on us throughout and the other staff we spoke to were also very friendly. Overall, a solid experience. Definitely paying a little bit extra for the ambience and ski resort town, but I'd still come back to check out the lunch and dinner offerings for sure!
