Every single time I come back home, dining at Colden Country Inn is non-negotiable. Located just a few miles from our homestead, it's an absolute diamond in the rough that never, ever disappoints. The food is always fresh and prepared absolutely perfectly. You truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but a few standout favorites are: Chicken Wings: Outstanding crunch, flavor, and execution--some of the best you'll find in town. Fish Fry: Golden, crisp, and fresh every time, with excellent sides that are all homemade. Cheese Steaks are made with thier shaved prime rib and is incredible, great portions of beef, onions and mushrooms. The Chicken Parm: was much bigger and tastier than I thought. My parents could've split one order, however, they now have a second full meal at home- the noodles from the pasta are homemade. The Daily Specials are always incredible and ever changing. Chef has it going on, and is building a helluva reputation for his business. To top it all off, they have a fantastic beer selection that pairs brilliantly with the menu. Also, they have an INCREDIBLE Bourbon menu as well. Colden Country Inn is just outstanding across the board. If you're anywhere near Colden, do yourself a favor and check it out no matter the time of year. In the winter they have dining igloos on the outdoor deck, that are heated. Such a cool concept! So yeah wow. This place is....great?! We went hiking at Sprague brook and we were hungry and ready for some cheap easy simple bar food. Stopped into this place with that expectation and were met with a real menu with lots of different options at a good price. The food was excellent they've got real chefs and the staff and prices were fantastic. The building itself is super cool too I loved the pictures and decoration all over and the history of this 1850s building. We really enjoyed it and I'd come back here any time for sure! read more

Went for taco Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised. The deep fried taco was 9.95 ( compared to 18 at the local county fair) and it was delicous! The waitress was friendly and on top of drinks. The only weird thing I'll mention was the smell of sulfur as you walk in the door. I'm assuming it's because of the water wells but once I got past the door the smell went away. read more

First time, won't be the last. I really liked this place. Parking lot next to the building is snug, but there is a municipal lot across the street. Front bar area has a few tables, and a packed bar at 5:30pm on a Wednesday, but there was a nearly empty dining room in the back, so we sat there. This is a very casual atmosphere, there were even a couple of families with little kids. The host and server were both prompt and friendly. There were some really interesting historical photos of the building on different walls. The food was very good, and enough for leftovers for lunch tomorrow. This was a win. read more

The food was not good. Beef was gray, no taste like it was boiled, sauce was watered down, and pizza was terrible. Hard to ruin pizza. Heard so many good things from locals but guessing they don't have much to compare it too to know what good food is. read more

I ordered a gluten free blackened prime rib. I told them I do not want the sauce it contains gluten . I waited over an hour for my meal to come out. The sauce was on my black and prime rib. It was very enjoyable! I love old restaurants that make you take a step back in time! Fun seeing photos they have displayed from long ago. We went for Taco Tuesday and tried the deep fried tacos. They happily customized the contents to our preference and the tacos were so good! Crunchy outside coating and not greasy (which I was assuming they would be)! Prices were really reasonable , too! The deep fried taco was huge and delicious! It was full of flavor and came out piping hot. The homemade creme brule was creamy and delicious. The entire staff, to include the owners, were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant maintains most of the original decor and structure which lended itself a very relaxed atmosphere. The food and service here are always fantastic! They have a huge beer selection. It is constantly and rotation so there's something for everybody every time we go there. We were also dining out in the igloos that they have in the backyard which is a really cool experience. All in all fantastic time. read more

Mike and Tracy have owned Colden Inn for about 10 to 15 years now. Mike has always been an excellent cook. Eager to learn and try new things and always coming up with some really delicious surprises. Even if you told me he was making a mud pie with rocks I would try it if Mike made it. I moved away a while ago so I haven't been there but hopefully in a few weeks I can go back. Brian and I have been coming to Colden Country Inn for the past 8 years so we knew EXACTLY where we wanted to have our wedding reception. Mike and Tracy are amazing, along with the food. Our family and friends could not get over how incredible the food was!  Some would expect the food to be not as good as table side service,  but definitely not in this case! Even with the covid the service and staffing was seamless, all the food was put on time hot and fresh and truly mouth watering. A very nice place. We eat in the bar. The beers on tap are fantastic. They actually had an Old Rasputin Imperial Stout on tap. Our dinners were very good and the service was as well. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because it was sooooooo cold inside. My wife wore a sweater. Unfortunately I didn't have a coat. It's June not December. We really enjoyed our visit ...server was excellent ! Highlights were the garlic parm wings , pizza and elk chili . Lots of great beers on tap and reasonably priced mixed drinks . Lowlights were ( literally it is really dark in dining room ) the stuffed jalapeno was really lacking salt and thier "signature " steak sub was sliced roast beef not steak and also missing spice . I hope my exuberance for just being able to find a restaurant to eat at does not affect my scoring for this restaurant. Four guests were at the table - we shared a tater tot appetizer while sipping on martinis and a dirty bastard IPA. The beer selection is good. Dinners were; lobster rolls, burger, philly cheese steak, and a quesadilla. No complaints from anyone, and my burger was wonderful. This is by no means a gourmet restaurant, but the food is simple, good, plenty of it and very reasonably priced. I will say - the desserts were upper scale in presentation and taste. CCI is a local joint that keeps the locals very happy - my guess is it will make you happy too. If it's tavern food you crave - get soma dat. read more

I tried this place over 5 years ago (I took the the outside night shots) and EVERY time I'm back in NY to visit, this is my go to place. I have been there over a dozen times and all but one time it was phenomenal. (The owner/chef was off). BUT it was still great. Last Saturday did not let me down. The Elk Meatloaf with a bourbon gravy, garlic potatoes and sautéed mixed veggies with something on them. I pritt near picked the plate up to lick it. (A slice of bread would be a good idea). It's got just enough game flavor for you to know it's not beef, but not enough for the palette timid to be put off. And the shrimp bisque soup, off the hook great. Which, FYI for the non cooks, to get shrimp in a soup that's not over cooked is a pretty good trick. No chewy rubber shrimp in that soup. Desserts? I don't know. As a matter of fact I have never had dessert here because I'm full. The portions are ample and the price is more than in line. It's got a great vibe too. You just wouldn't drive by this place and think it is as cool inside with the awesome food. read more

I read the reviews and they all seemed favorable so decided to eat here after my husband and friend finished running the Tough Mudder. There wasn't many cars in the lot so plenty of parking. We walked in and there was several regulars sitting at the bar, who all turned and looked surprised to see strangers. The appearance of the place was not what i would have thought. It just looked like a bar, not a restaurant and I had second thoughts about eating there. We stayed and I will say, one of the best decisions ever! The food was out of bounds. We ate at a high end steak house the night before that didn't even come close to being as good as this place. No one was disappointed with their food. The portions were huge. The service was decent. Colden Country Inn is a small bar/restaurant with outstanding food, and many surprises. I would almost call it a "gastropub". Sure, there are subs, wings, and pizza, and the pizza is among the best in the region. But you might be surprised by Elk Kielbasa. You never know what specials might be on the menu. I would've never thought to stop here if the bartender at the Kissing Bridge bar hadn't recommended it. Thank goodness he had! We ordered wings and pizza, and they were all great! I was ok with the increased food prices but when portion sizes and quality goes down as well as not even getting certain side orders enough is enough. It's tough for all businesses right now especially restaurants, I get it but if you can't keep up the quality and quantity with your prices raised it's time to cut back and scale back the focus of the restaurant. Best French onion soup on the planet. Wings are terrific too (best in the area unless you want to trudge all the way down to downtown Buffalo). In fact, for what on the surface appears to be a country/dive bar, the food is phenomenal. People are friendly, beers are cheap, and the music is plentiful to boot. What's not to love?? read more
