The food and service here are always fantastic! They have a huge beer selection. It is constantly and rotation so there's something for everybody every time we go there. We were also dining out in the igloos that they have in the backyard which is a really cool experience. All in all fantastic time.

    Deep fried chicken taco!

It was very enjoyable! I love old restaurants that make you take a step back in time! Fun seeing photos they have displayed from long ago. We went for Taco Tuesday and tried the deep fried tacos. They happily customized the contents to our preference and the tacos were so good! Crunchy outside coating and not greasy (which I was assuming they would be)! Prices were really reasonable , too! It was a nice drive to Colden and a perfect little "date night"! The staff were super friendly and helpful, too! It was our first time there, and will not be our last!

Our crisp, cold salads were served with a small loaf of warm bread accompanied by two spreads. The shrimp and grits were scrumptious, with plenty to take home, my husband's steak was cooked to perfection. We shared a crème brûlée with the crisp topping and luscious vanilla bean crème. The live music on a weeknight added to the atmosphere. Decor is interesting to look at as many antique pieces pay homage to the history of the building as a mill. Ample parking in front and directly across the street. Ramp system was bumpy, but certainly accessible. The owner/ bartender was hospitable and grateful for the patronage. Thanks, Chuck!

Somehow they were down to one chef and the host made sure he could adequately accommodate us before even agreeing to seat us. WHO DOES THAT? Everyone else practically would just park you and cross their fingers -if they cared at all. Onion soup was very (sherry? Champagne?) vinegar forward. Uncommon flavor but good. They actually whipped up a Beef Stroganoff for me without alcohol which was also really tender but a tad disappointingly served on bow ties which I love -but I specifically asked and was told it was served over noodles. (Especially when another menu item came with pappardelle which I adore). One tablemate had bacon wrapped meatloaf he really enjoyed - and had to be 2/3 lb of meat. The fish was a head-scratcher...Billed as a curried and beer (IPA?) battered haddock what arrived was curry free and had no discernable trace of batter. The poor thing was encased in a thick wall of panko and absolutely incinerated in the deep fryer. The fish itself however, was done to a turn. The fries may as well have been mashed potatoes. WHY DOES EVERYONE MAKE SCRATCH FRIES THESE DAYS? No one knows how! I will, however, definitely give them another chance for sure. Partially because they were shorthanded but mostly because of our wonderful dining room staff. They were (understandably) unable to accommodate my request for coarse salt despite reporting having searched all over. I believed them too because the level of service was just that good. And..would't you know it?... a few minutes later after i gave up on it - didn't they find some for me? WHO DOES THAT? Oh! And get this! At the very last minute after the bill was almost certainly tallied, as we were about to settle they arranged for us to have 3 separate checks! WHO DOES THAT??? The Colden Mill does that!

Now, I've been out of the area for 12 years. When I rolled in at 9pm on a Thursday, hungry, I wasn't sure what kind of food I'd find, but the reviews for Last Run were good enough, so I decided to give it a go. And damn am I glad I did. The serving size was insane. A massive pile of fries, a dish of cole slaw, a generous serving of mac salad (which I usually don't love, but was happy to make an exception for), and 4 large, golden, crispy filets of fish. And every bite was delightful. Both the serving staff (who were on their way out but got me started anyway) and Anna, the bartender, were friendly and extremely helpful. I can even forgive the mispronunciation of "Smithwick's". This was an excellent way to be welcomed back to the area.

At first glance, it's easy going atmosphere, juke box, and row of motorcycles out front will have you thinking it's just another dive bar. But if you spend more than two minutes there, you will quickly see that there is more to this little stop on rt 240! The menu (albeit expensive) has a ton of home cooked options and the specials never disappoint! The Baja tacos are my favorite, the wings are perfect, and the roast beef (when they have it) is as good as or better than Bar-bills. There are dinner tables inside and out. Their newly remodeled patio is awesome, and usually shaded fairly well. What makes the last run the best is truly the people that work there. We've been living in town for 20 years now, and in all that time, I've met so many good people. Not one bad apple in 10 years. That's just incredible.
