First time customer, I placed an order for 2 cheesesteaks. When I went to pick them up, I could hear the employees telling one another not to pick up the phone for orders. That was the first red flag. When I got home, both cheesesteaks were messed up. The cheesesteak that was not supposed to have mushrooms had them. The cheesesteak was supposed to have mushrooms didn't. My cheesesteak (that wasn't supposed to have mushrooms-but did) didn't have fried onions or pickles. We were so infuriated after 2 bites, we stopped eating them. The next day we returned the sandwiches, we were told we were SOL! They wouldn't refund our money nor did they offer new sandwiches. read more

I need to go back: something tells me this wasn't the usual, and I hope I have a slightly better experience. I could tell they had a lot going on that day, but the staff was very nice even though they seemed stressed. So I'm gonna write this review and then find an excuse to eat here again. The wait was a bit long. I got there at 11:15-and for a bit was the only person there, but it still took 15 min for a small sandwich. And oh the sandwich--so so close to good. I got the deli turkey with all the fixings plus the homemade peppers. The bread was delicious--soft and just chewy. I watched a woman slice the turkey right there, which was (for this Texan still getting used to amazing sandwiches) impressive. I also asked for oil and vinegar. But the peppers (that I paid extra for) tasted like absolutely nothing. Nothing. I was so confused. I would put one in my mouth and nothing. And there was no vinegar on my sandwich. Travesty! However, the meat was fresh and good. The cheese , tomatoes, lettuce and onion (sliced nice and thin) were all good. So much potential. Plus look at this thing--this is a small. It's small. This was a very well-made and tasty cheesesteak. The meat was good and thicker slices. A good amount of cheese and a very good cheese melt. I paid the extra dollar for the roasted peppers and I'm glad I did. The Aversa roll was very good. I'm having a tough time getting over the amount of meat. It definitely needed more meat. A while back, I helped the owner when I worked at the big orange store and he told me to try the place, and if it wasn't the best italian sub I'd ever had, he would pay for it. Well, I had to pay for it and will continue to do so. Gourmet Italian was the best, and my girlfriends roasted turkey club was amazing also. Everyone raves to me that this is the best sub shop in the New Castle County area. I got the chicken cheese steak with lettuce fried onions and ketchup. Right off the bat was a nice sized cheesesteak for the price. Was 8.50 for the 10 inch, it came with a healthy amount of steak as you can tell from the picture. Finally a cheese steak where I dont feel like I was shorted. The onions were mixed in nice with the steak. Lettuce sort of non existent but that's fine there was still a little bit. Could've used a little more seasoning, I like ketchup but towards the end I basically had mouth fulls of ketchup. Little less would've been better. Was either made on a liscio's or a serpes roll. Both practically the same thing. Both rolls are mediocre at best, not enough toughness to it and the sandwich gets soft and soggy. Overall it was solid, I'd come back again and try some other things. Stopped in Delaware for the day and was starving so I stopped at Goodfellas. I am so glad that I did! I didn't know what to order, scanned the menu and noticed they had cheesesteaks. I decided to give it a try. I've only tried 2 other cheesesteak spots since I've been in Philly (I'm not a native). The guy at the register was patient and added the exact toppings I wanted. My order took ten minutes. That was hands down the best cheesecake I've had thus far. The break was fresh. The toppings/meat ratio was perfect and I'm not sure what cheese they used but it was salty and creamy and meshed well with the meat it wasn't too salty or bland. It was perfect. This sub shop is close in proximity to where I live yet I have never ordered subs from here before today. I stumbled across a Double Take Offer where I could get $20 of subs for $10 and so I thought this would be a great savings since three of us were ordering. I am so glad to say I made this decision! I had no idea what I have been missing all this time! The subs here are terrific. I ordered the Boss Italian Sub (which includes Sharp Prov, Genoa, Capacolo, Sopressato, Peppered ham, Prosciutto and no lettuce) but I asked for a little lettuce and easy on the mayo and they made it perfectly! The roll was nice and crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. The aged sharp provolone they used was a perfect compliment to the sandwich and they certainly did not skimp on the meat! This is a real italian sub, in fact one of the best I have ever had and my family enjoyed theirs just as much! I visited this restaurant after purchasing a few coupon deals on Restaurant.com. The Service was slow and the staff not very friendly. The coupon stated that you had to spend a minimum of $10 which was not a big deal. What the coupon did not state was that you could only use one per visit. This suprised me as I usually do not carry cash on me. I purchased a mushroom cheesesteak and fries . The steak was FAIR and the fries were absolutely HORRIBLE! The mushrooms were rubbery and not very appetizing. The only reason I will be returning to this establishment is utilize the coupons that I still have. My husband wanted me to give 4 stars for this place. Prices are good up until u want to put extras on. Anywhere from $1-$2.50. $2.00 for mushrooms on an 8in cheesesteak? I got an Italian sub... Hate when meat is on top and my husband n i agreed that the bread is tough. It's the kind that pushes all ur fillings out if u don't hold the back..lol. Still, after rearranging the meat, the sub itself was good. My husband had a meatball sub. Said that he liked the meatball texture but it was a lil bland. He also got the potato salad n said that it was bland as well. He ate it anyway because it had bacon in it. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going here. We're trying to call to place our order and no answer. So aft trying about 5 times we drive over there. I walked in and the owner says are you picking up? I say no been trying to call to place an order. He says well we are closed?? I say its only 710. You close at 8 and when I tried calling it was around 630?? He says well my employees been here all day they need to go home.. What??!! So naturally I flipped out and said i will never come here again. Owner says I'm sorry I will personally make your food. What do you want? I want the panzerotti and I'll take the boss.Je says I can't make the boss but I will make you something else.I say we come here and order the same thing every time. The steak oozes out of the delicious roll and the cheese and fried onions are perfect. Very finely chopped, which I love- hence my distaste for Tony Luke's. The only knock on this place is the prices, but if you're looking for quality, go to Goodfellas. The staff are also very friendly. So I'm from Camden NJ, Home of the famous panzarotti shop. I've been in Delaware for 4 years and found this place. As soon as I realized they had panzarottis that's all I order ever. Today I got 3 because I talked them up so much to my family they decided to try them. It was a huge disappointment. I've worked in the restaurant as a cook for about 5 years , keep that in mind. I open my food and it's cold cheese not even melted like it's suppose to be and full of grease. I called them bc I wanted them to know it was pretty sad. My kids ate it anyway bc they were hungry. I spoke to a young girl on the phone that really didn't know what todo, places me on hold and says oh my boss is busy yea he is busy, so I say can I just come tomorrow for my panzarotti and bring you back what you gave me, I made a video just so they didn't think I'm trying to get them and she says he's not here tomorrow and is the only one that can approve a redo. I said so I have to wait bc of you guys not making the food properly?? That's real great , she says we don't make them we just cook them, as if I wasn't already aggravated enough, no shit I know my panzarotti history. The sub I got today was just okay, nothing special. Capriotti's is much better. But the worst part is, the customer service was awful. I had checked their Facebook page for phone number and hours, and it turns out the hours posted were wrong. Sauce was mixed nicely with the steak, not just ladled over as an after thought like some places do. Steak was chopped well and filled the roll. My wife ordered a chicken cheese steak. She asked for cheddar cheese instead of the American it comes with. She received no cheese at all, although we were charged an extra dollar. Fast Friendly Service. One of the best cheese steaks in Delaware. The boardwalk fries are not quite Thrashers but still excellent with malt vinegar - the combo takes me to the beach and Philly in one meal. If you've never been, it's a take out business not an eat in place. Summer they have a couple of tables/chairs on sidewalk. I stopped in here for 2 20 inch Ital with prosciutto with a restaurant.com coupon to take on a ski trip. about 10 hours later we went to eat our sandwiches and there was no prosciutto!!! Wow I have been going to Goodfellas for years and the subs have always been exceptional. Best in Delaware. Today however I ordered a turkey sub and when I got home and looked at it there was barely any turkey. I was able to put all of the meat on to one half of the roll and it still was not full. Not sure if they were running low on turkey today, if the shop cut back the amount of meat they use or if it was the particular girl that made the sandwich.
