We stopped in here while we waited for D'Amato's restaurant to open. What's super convenient is that Gracie's and D'Amato's share the space together. They have a number of craft cocktails that are absolutely delicious. I had the Cherry Bourbon Mule and my wife had a Dirty Martini - both were awesome. In fact, I had 2 more Mules afterwards if that tells you anything. The bartender was great - responsive, cordial and even humorous. When we come back to Royal Oak, we will certainly be back. We tucked into the bar on a Saturday night for an early evening cocktail. They have a Saturday happy hour menu! So...the lovely barkeep took our drink order quickly so we could partake. A shared Caesar salad and zoodle/pasta dish later and we are sufficiently suffonsified. House made sauces are delicious (we tried the marinara but I'd like to try palomino next time) and there is no pressure to drink like fish or overindulge in food. DJ was setting up as we were leaving, so I'm sure the hospitable atmosphere only improves. We'll return. read more

Everything is 5 stars about this place EXCEPT one specific bartender. I didn't catch his name but will update when I get it. He is friendly and fun at first but then sometimes brings out an attitude that can actually turn into bad service. I wanted to use Royal Oak Dollars (which they accept and are part of the program) and he gave me and my girlfriends such an attitude about it and in the end didn't take them. I was there about 6 months ago with a different guy who was so nice and helpful when using Royal Oak Dollars. I like the happy hour and food and drinks and the casual ambiance with live music. Am disappointed not to go there anymore because my girlfriends and I were so turned off by the rudeness of the bartender that we won't go there anymore unless we know he isn't working and he generally seems to be there all the happy hour evenings now. They literally lost at least 10 women customers because of one rude bartender. read more

Their food was fresh and flavorful. I took my sister here for her birthday dinner. Also enjoyed the crispy Brussels sprouts, my mother and sister loved them, and they are not fans of the sprout. Ended with Cavatapi, corkscrew pasta, I believe homemade. It was to die for. The wait staff was attentive and kind. Cocktails were with infused vodkas. Quaint spot, worth a stop in and try. It was my first time here, as soon as we sat down our bartender greeted us with a smile. We both got the Strawberry Moscow Mules and they were FABULOUS! The strawberry infused vodka is one of a kind, and they are served ice cold. Although we didn't try the food, I heard it is great as well. Would definitely return. read more

I uh,, I'm back in Royal Oak. And I'm in a bar, no way. And the freakish thing about it is that I'm actually having a good time. Yea, no painfully loud music. No DJ playing songs over played at 95.5. Just good drinks, good food and great company. It's sort of like the in between type of bar where you can get rowdy if you want to, or just sit, talk about stupid stuff you would normally talk about at work. Anyways, it's dimly lit inside so you're gonna wanna use your phone to light up the menu when you're trying to pick something to drink or eat. Food comes from the D'Amato restaurant next door, so if you've had food here. You've had food from next door as well. My friends ordered the pizza, their signature chicken and pasta dish and their penne in their house sauce. All those were hella delish. I enjoyed my night out here. My friend had been to the Ann Arbor location but I had not been (it closed a few years ago) so we went here this weekend when she was in town. On Fridays, Gracie's and D'Amatos (sister business, attached to it) does half-off dinner for Ladies Night (for ladies only, obviously) and $5 Cosmos. We had already had dinner at Blaze down the street but we did the Cosmo's and then one other drink each. My friend got some sort of pineapple/mango/banana rum drink that was excellent and I made the mistake of thinking I like bourbon, and getting an Apple Pie drink with it - it tasted awful but did taste faintly of apple pie. I was hoping to get some jazz here but Fri/Sat they do more clubby/DJ type stuff. I would come back here if out and about in Royal Oak at night sometime. read more

Goodnite Gracie is a small dark lit martini bar attached to D'Amato's. They have seating at a long bar and some tables and chairs on the side. On the weekend they often have a dj. There's not much of a dance floor but there is a disco ball and a few people dance. It's more of a place to have a cocktail, listen to music, and hang out with friends than a dancing destination. I have come to Goodnite Gracie on a Saturday before and the dj played pretty good music, mostly hip hop/90s. I've been to Goodnite Gracie a couple times and it's always been enjoyable. Tuesdays-Saturdays they offer a happy hour from 4-7, which offers special prices for quite a few appetizers including burgers, brussel sprouts, crab cakes, etc. and select cocktails that are usually around $10 are $7 on special. They also offer a late night happy hour just on drinks from 10-12. I came on a Friday and tried a couple of their cocktails during happy hour. Do yourself a favor and order the Vixen or Chocolate Martini. They are both very good and you will not be disappointed. The Vixen is my favorite cocktail here, and is raspberry vodka, and melon, raspberry and pineapple liqueurs. It's my go-to cocktail whenever I come here. I also really enjoy their chocolate martini. Yum! It's like a boozy dessert in a glass! I'm not sure if this one is a happy hour special but I really enjoy it and I have had it here and at D'Amato's. When I recently came here I also tried the Sunburn, which has flavors of pineapple, banana and coconut, since it was a happy hour special. It was good but not half as good as the Vixen, and was a little too sweet for my taste. They also had a few flavored mules on special too. Their food was pretty good as well. I ordered the crab cakes and they were delicious, not too much filler and very flavorful. My friend got the arancini di riso and said it was also very good. They can get very busy during happy hour. There were very few places left to sit and people were squeezing in at the bar. After happy hour, I noticed they cleared out quite a bit. They also were not as crowded as most other bars in Royal Oak when I came here on a Saturday night when they had a dj. Seems like this is a place where people like to start their night. Overall Goodnite Gracie has a great atmosphere, and delicious cocktails, perfect to start your evening for a girls night out and is also a nice place to chat over cocktails for a date. I'm not a hip or cool guy, so I often walk by this place for more local watering holes, such as Gusoline Alley or Lily's seafood. My girlfriend and I stopped in a few weeks back before going to Royal Oak Music Theater and we happened across happy hour. 6 dollar martinis...wait...6 dollars for a damn good martini. I elected for a dirty with blue cheese olives and she got a raspberry infused both are awesome. I stopped in again Thursday for their 1/2 off Whiskey night. It includes: Scotch, Irish, Kentucky and even Japanese....over 90 of them. Really impressive list and the price makes it easy to want to try something a bit high end. They also have a great happy hour food menu coming from D'amato's. Bruschetta, sliders, and calamari are just a few. Once again, reasonably priced. Overall, very good place. If I'm in Royal Oak and looking for a great martini or a proper cocktail this is usually my go to. Service from the floor staff is hit or miss but the bartenders are usually on the mark if you're not being taken care of in a timely manner by your server. Seating can be a total drag given the galley style setup but on off hours it shouldn't be an issue. Musical guests can be pretty eclectic and are generally talented raising the vibe in this spot. Drinks are pricey as you'd expect, as are most any other martini lounges in the vicinity. I'm not a fan of D'amato's at all so if I'm eating too, I'll head to Oak City...their drinks are as good and their food is outstanding. read more

This review is for goodnight Gracie... I have yet to try the food at D'Amotos.. I guess I'll start with the good. The decor is cool or whatever. I thought the disco ball was sort of funky and cool. Drinks were okay. Okay the bad... The service literally from the second we tried to walk in. The bouncers were incredibly condescending and rude. Yes, I look young, I get it. But please don't try and say things like, "you could be my daughter" or " you're so young you haven't even lived". Seriously rude, just look at my ID and move on. The server. What the hell. To make her life easier we indicated that we would like separate checks to avoid the confusion at the end. She was super unhappy with this and was insistent that they were on the same check. Eventually she agreed and said separate checks would be better. All of our martinis came out on rocks glasses. It doesn't really matter but it was sort of weird. THE WORST Okay so at the end of the night we were ready to pay. So we asked for our checks. In response to this she said, " you guys can just leave your cards on the table and ill take care of it". First of all, the specialty drink menu doesn't even have prices on it and second of all, no." So she finally brings them over, being super rude about everything. The worst part was she kept calling us sexy and babe and baby. It was just super awkward. The disco ball. It was cool at first but the way the mirrors are positioned in the place I felt like I was literally going to have a seizure. I don't know if ill be back. After dinner drinks just turned into being super annoyed the whole time. The menu is super creative and they do use a lot of top shelf liquors which I like. Expensive. Crowded. Poor service. Not my style, but apparently its Royal Oak's style. I went here as part of my friends going away party, met up with some other friends too. As my unemployed ass usually does, I walked up to the bar and asked "Do you have any specials?" The bartender responded and I couldn't hear him, so I said "Whats your cheapest beer?" The dude scoffed at me. He didn't answer the question and I had to ask "High Life?". Also, $3.50 for a High Life? Really Royal Oak? I know its trendy and the DJ was pretty good, but I could buy three High Lifes here for the same about it'd cost me to get a 12 pack. The place is crowded. Its always crowded. Sure, its trendy, but your bar is the size of my bathroom and you're trying to cram more tables and booths in there than should be physically possible. The crowd was a more upscale type, so navigating through the place wasn't easy. Goodnite Gracie's is not my scene. I don't like expensive bars where you pay for the atmosphere or whatever their excuse is. I don't like tiny, overcrowded bars. I don't like bartenders that don't answer simple questions that will net them a tip. I did like the beats the DJ was throwin' down, and for that, Goodnite Gracie's, you get a gold star. Visited Goodnight Gracie in Royal Oak for my friend Gracie's going away party... oh the coincidences! A few things you should know about me before reading this review... I'm a bourbon snob, I've been getting into Rye and I don't really dig smoke anymore. The positives. Goodnight Gracie has a nice selection of bourbon and my bartender for the evening (Rob) had some generous rocks pours. He spent a lot of time helping me find a new Rye to try after my first drink was emptied. But aside from the stellar service from Rob, I didn't really experience anything at this Gracie's that would make me go out of my way to come back. We were there on a Thursday night and the place is pretty small. It also got reasonably crowded, with lots of people that seemed to think it was important for them to be seen. There was a DJ and a band that I can't remember. It was all o.k. What bugged me was the smoke and a lack of any kind of attention from any waitress. I don't know if it's their policy for everyone to walk up to the bar, but it would have been great to have someone ask me at least once if I needed another drink. I can't tell you a single time that I was visited by any server, though Rob made the effort to yell over the bar to make sure I was doing o.k. Kudos to Rob, Kudos to Gracie's for having Rye. Wish it was a bit bigger and really wish it was no smoking. read more

Bar service leaves something to be desired. Was here for 15 min with basically an empty bar on a Wednesday at 9pm. Didn't know where the bartender was and finally had to get the bar back to find him. Update 1/9/17 I was contacted by the owner to assure me this is not the norm and will be used for training staff. I very much respect management and leadership that take an active role in addressing issues that may be perceived in their establishment. For that, I will definitely return. Nice job. Do you like delicious martinis? Then you will love Goodnight Gracies as much as I do. The pomegranate martini is the best martini I've ever had in my life. Could I drink 10 of them? No. Have I tried because they were so delicious that I couldn't stop myself and then was way too drunk to be around people, let alone coworkers? Yes. The atmosphere is great here as it's a little more expensive and smaller so it keeps out anyone wearing an Ed Hardy tee shirt. Yes, it is small and can be really crowded at times, which is exactly why I only gave it 4 stars. You can go over to D'Amatos through the door between the two restaurants, but I've always found Gracie's to be a little more fun. Can't really rate on the food as I've only had a few of the apps here. But I do have to say that the bruschetta is pretty amazing. read more

First off, I've only been here for happy hour time. The other times I've tried to go here, it's been too crowded or closed for a private event. But for happy hour, I really enjoy this place. in fact, it reminds me of two of my favorite bars that i've reviewed on yelp (one in chicago and one in lawrence, ks). i highly recommend happy hour here for the following: 1. you're not going to deal with the inattentive staff when there's only eight people in the bar. 2. they have awesome food specials! $8 lamb chops? yes, please! i actually got a crab cake and calamari though, and both were delish. 3. lefko of blue stem martini in chicago would dig some of these martinis...great selection, and the decisions are tough. 4. good beer specials. if you're not into martinis, they have half-priced beer on thurs. and half-priced wine on wednesdays. awesome! of course, there is some truth to the lack of staff...notice i said lack of staff and not lack of effort. also, don't be one of those people who sees delicate stemware and decides it's pretentious. this place is not pretentious. they don't sit there and pronounce bruschetta like brusketta (yes, i know it's technically correct, but come on...do you say cwrassaint, too?). they're nice! relax and come have a martini here! just not on the weekend. read more

Tonight a painting fell on my head. We were enjoying our happy hour martinis (the vixen is amazing!) when I leaned against the wall and the painting fell on my head. I know they are for sale, but can you guys please hang them? Leaning them against the wall doesn't seem to work. Every patron of the bar seemed to have noticed but not a single bartender. Moving on... The 5 or 6 dollar martinis (before 7 pm) are fabulous. I like this place when it's not crowded but it usually is. One of my coworkers was having a fundraiser for a nonprofit group that she volunteers at and invited me to the event. The crowd seems to be more of a calmer and older crowd, early 30s and up. They have great cocktails and drink specials! The event was on a Thursday, so it was half off Whiskey and discounts on Whiskey drinks. I got a Cherry Bourbon Moscow Mule and boy was it delicious! I'd come back just to have this drink again! And it was only $5 (usually $9). The Beau got Bell's Christmas Ale and he enjoyed it, but we definitely wish there was a greater craft beer selection. I didn't know that Goodnite Gracie is a bar within D'Amatos so before going to Goodnite, we went to BSpot (which was delicious), but the food that the other patron's ordered from D'Amato's smelled so good! My far the best place in Royal oak to have a hand crafted cocktail. They have a great bourbon and scotch selection as well if you prefer it neat. The place can get pretty cramped early due to its small size so arrive by 10pm on weekends to grab a table. I know they offer food but I haven't had any; this is a drinking place.
