Great skate shop as far as inventory, but it's a very cramped space. The prices are fair but I kind of got the feeling that the employees were bothered by having to accommodate us. Maybe because they are in a very small town where people do a lot of window shopping and do not really buy anything. We did end up buying items for my son's skateboard and he is pleased with the stuff we got him. Maybe we are spoiled living in Southern California and have many skate shops to choose from, but over all it was not the best experience for us. read more

My family and I wanted to go on a random day trip to a place where we have never been before. It was a holiday and raining so half of the stores were closed. My son saw this spot and wanted to go inside because he likes the clothes style in skate shops. It looked like a typical skate shop except for one difference. Their customer service was amazing. The first person we talked to answered all my sons' questions about a ton of shoes. After that he realized we were not from Grass Valley, so he gave us a ton of options of things to see in the area and places to eat. This was extremely helpful because the kids were hungry from the drive. The second person was behind the counter and gave all the kids stickers and we had a quick chat. We did not buy something this day, but it makes us want to go back and if we do there are some shoes my son wants. Customer service like this helps everyone around them because we will always remember this spot and want to go back. read more

How can I be the 1st yelp review for this GV landmark? This place has been around for almost 20 years now and is one of the coolest shops in town. Their website says it best: "For skaters, by skaters, since '97. Goodtimes is a skateboard store in the gold country of Northern California. We are purveyors of skateboarding brands that support skateboarding, because we believe in keeping true to our roots, and keeping skateboarding alive through conscious retailing." Grass Valley has sure come a long way! A board store right there on the main drag? Who would've thunk it? As board stores go, Good Times stocks all the basics. You can buy your cool clothes, your cool shoes, and build your own cool skateboard from the deck up. It's clean, uncluttered, and the staff really know their stuff! I'm a big fan of supporting local skate businesses, especially now that there are so many chain mall stores competing for your business with lower prices and easy access. Still, I'll take an Indie store over a chain store any day! Bonus points for having a 50%-off sale rack! I like cheap. And extra-double bonus points for giving us a whole stack of free stickers! Our son's stroller is now the coolest stroller on the block. He especially loves the "I (heart) Skate Moms" one. The coolest place to go in grass valley, all the people who work here are always nice. They even helped my son put together his very first skate board, which they did not have to do, they were just as excited as he was. Some people say that their merch is overpriced but after looking for the same clothing on line or anywhere else it's the same. They also always are keeping up with new styles that are coming out. MJ Parrish introduced me to Good Times Skate Board Shop when I was about 9 yrs.old.I have bought my gear and clothing from there every year when I came out for summer vacation. Their Customer Service has always been top notch. Greeted with warm smiles with a "hello" Sky, Laura and newbies ask their names. Patience of saints. Cz we all know how youngster's can want to try on every skate shoe in the store. I recall wanting a shoe for it's looks not in my size. The Sales person explained how important the fit was for safety and comfort had a little tamptrum great full they cared enough not to sale a higher price shoe just because I wanted to look cool. Great store with quality gear and clothing. Five Stars..will continue to return from Vegas to get the Customer Service and Awesome shoes that fit correctly. Your the best!!!!!! read more

I have only been in this store about 5 times and I have never been impressed. Small inventory for a store that wants you to get your skating gear there. I found there was a pretty good selection of skate shoes. The clothing was definitely lacking. I went to go look at the Womens Toms last week (at their new location) and the man working was on the phone with what seemed to be a friend. He was laughing and joking on the phone and not taking an interest in the 2 customers that were clearly waiting to be helped. I stood facing him with a shoe in my hand and he just chatted on the phone. So I oredered my Toms online that evening for a better price then Good Times. Won't be supporting this business again. read more
