The store opened recently but there is very little product on the shelves and the clothes racks are tiny and far apart. They also have the same items that were there when they first opened a month ago. Very disappointing.

I was also very disappointed in this store. It was mediocre at best, and overpriced at worst. Um, you're not sposed to sell things for the same price (or more) that they would cost new. I was looking for some maps or an atlas to use the pages for crafts but the books were $2 and up. There was no sheet music for same, no yarn, all the dishes were high priced, and I was told a wooden spoon that I picked up with no price was $1.99. For a used wooden spoon?? I don't think so. I politely said, That much? I think I'll pass. And the clerk responded very politely as well. I left without buying anything, unusual for me, wondering how many sales they lose on things that could be turning over very quickly if they were priced reasonably. Their loss.

This location has been my last minute go-to spot for Halloween costumes for at least four years now. It has never failed me. For my own costume, I usually walk in clueless as to what I need but something will end up sparking my imagination and in the end, I always walk out pleased as punch. I think at least 4 different people have now worn the Nun costume made from a $5 black choir robe, a headband and some black fabric. We've also conjured up the Geek Squad, Little Orphan Annie, a Dead Prom Queen and a Disco Diva, (blonde fro and all) just to name a few. Other times we've found just the right accessory to finish out kid costumes and whatever our imagination had started. Forget the big costume stores full of packaged, synthetic crap. Come here, get creative and save some cash in the process.

Selection is okay but they must be high when they price things. So overpriced. This stuff is USED, Goodwill. Get a grip on reality.

She greeted me with a genuine smile, spoke softly, and made me feel like I wasn't just another person in line. She helped me set up a profile I'd been struggling to figure out for months, walking me through it step by step with so much patience and gentleness that I didn't feel embarrassed or rushed for once. She even helped me fix a small mistake that kept popping up on my screen, reassuring me the whole time that it happens to everyone. We laughed together about how technology seems determined to confuse people no matter their age. I told her she was doing a great job and that her kindness really mattered, and you could see how much that meant to her--it was one of those quiet, genuine exchanges that stays with you. It didn't feel like a transaction at all, just two people having a friendly chat which I have been needing. I didn't catch her name, but thank you, sweet tall blonde young lady. Your kindness meant more to me than you could ever know.

BUT the staff is always friendly, there is plenty to browse through, the aisles and merchandise have always been organized and clean when I go, and the pricing is definitely good. You can't really ask for more than that. If you enjoy shopping secondhand, make the drive to this location. Typically there are sales on certain items so make sure you pay attention to that to get more bang for your buck. On my most recent trip here, I bought 3 items and spent less than $20. I need to expand the business casual selection in my closet so I will probably take another trip here, probably in the fall when the selection should definitely skew to warmer clothing.

It's a smaller store but they have lots of well-curated pieces and a really good selection of formal wear, dresses, skirts, jewelry, etc. I was prompted to take care of this draft review and a few others today because of a dress in the window here. A friend was recently in town visiting and asked that I go back and get a picture of the dress in the window. She is thinking about purchasing it (or having me purchase it and send it to her lol). Anyway, here's something to know: items displayed in the window have waitlists for folks intersting in purchasing. Anytime I have been in the shop, including today, service is friendly and helpful. In addition, clothing and shoe items are spaced apart where you can easily view them and ferret through the racks. The value of items are reasonably priced and some items as low as $5. I did not find anything I could not live without, however, I will definitely pop in from time to time. Also, there is a fair amount of free parking. The store manager was super helpful and personable.

We do not need to have to watch our feet to not step over a dog puddle/or worse. I understand certified ADA service digs, but will never accept emotional support/entitlement. No one wants to shop with a basket that previously had a dog/cat beforehand. It is gross to have to wipe down or deal with pet hair (many of us are allergic). I'm a dog owner and I would not bring my pet among strangers-they can easily get sick too. Not too many people care if they have a cold/or worse and it is stressful to be preoccupied to keep human to pet safe distance. I may start shopping, but if I have to weave in or around someone's dog/cat() then I just leave. Its not worth the stressful shopping. I lose my thrifting buzz having to watch my steps from pets. Many of us are frustrated with this entitlement of inconsiderate pet owners.

Anyway, I love Room Service and have been coming here for years. Long before I relocated to Austin from the East Coast. It's part of my North Loop Jaunt where I hit up all my fave places in the neighborhood every few months or so. Prior to relocating, I'd visit Austin twice a year and always made time to stop in. This is one of the most inspiring and well laid out vintage stores ever. You can just get lost for hours. So many ideas for home decor and styling. They've always got a grand selection of MCM (Mid-Century Modern) furniture and accessories. My house is 99% MCM. They've really just got the best collection of everything. Trinkets, knickknacks, patches, light fixtures, dishes, mirrors, art, clothing, records, jewelry...you get my drift. Service is so super friendly and welcoming. I am particularly fond of the pro-trans sign in the entrance window!! Everything they carry is in very good to pristine condition and pricing is reflective. I had a feeling it probably wasn't going to be my kind of shop, and I turned out to be right--but that's not a knock on the store. This is a really cool place filled with things you won't find just anywhere. If you're looking for unique vintage, antique, mid-century modern, or just plain unusual pieces, you'll probably have a great time browsing. Just don't go expecting thrift store prices. Everything is priced much closer to full market value, so this is more of a vintage boutique than a thrift store. I originally stopped in because I'd seen photos online of some beautiful vintage glassware and hoped to find something to add to my collection. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything I was looking for, and what did catch my eye was more than I was willing to spend. I left empty-handed, and it's probably not a store I'll visit again simply because I'm more of a bargain hunter. But if you're looking for distinctive vintage pieces and don't mind paying market prices, Room Service Vintage is definitely worth a visit.
