Anyway, I love Room Service and have been coming here for years. Long before I relocated to Austin from the East Coast. It's part of my North Loop Jaunt where I hit up all my fave places in the neighborhood every few months or so. Prior to relocating, I'd visit Austin twice a year and always made time to stop in. This is one of the most inspiring and well laid out vintage stores ever. You can just get lost for hours. So many ideas for home decor and styling. They've always got a grand selection of MCM (Mid-Century Modern) furniture and accessories. My house is 99% MCM. They've really just got the best collection of everything. Trinkets, knickknacks, patches, light fixtures, dishes, mirrors, art, clothing, records, jewelry...you get my drift. Service is so super friendly and welcoming. I am particularly fond of the pro-trans sign in the entrance window!! Everything they carry is in very good to pristine condition and pricing is reflective. With that said, the prices are extremely fair. I can't recommend Room Service enough. Support local. Support small business. Sustainability. Be creative. read more

4 stars As someone who loves thrifting and old stuff, I'd driven past Room Service Vintage countless times and finally decided to stop in. I had a feeling it probably wasn't going to be my kind of shop, and I turned out to be right--but that's not a knock on the store. This is a really cool place filled with things you won't find just anywhere. If you're looking for unique vintage, antique, mid-century modern, or just plain unusual pieces, you'll probably have a great time browsing. Just don't go expecting thrift store prices. Everything is priced much closer to full market value, so this is more of a vintage boutique than a thrift store. I originally stopped in because I'd seen photos online of some beautiful vintage glassware and hoped to find something to add to my collection. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything I was looking for, and what did catch my eye was more than I was willing to spend. I left empty-handed, and it's probably not a store I'll visit again simply because I'm more of a bargain hunter. But if you're looking for distinctive vintage pieces and don't mind paying market prices, Room Service Vintage is definitely worth a visit. read more

love this vintage shop!!! i came out with some goodies like a working VCR tv (have been hunting for ages!). was tempted on a lot of other goodies in the shop. the restroom is so cute, entirely bunny themed (my favorite animal!). overall definitely worth the visit but come early as the parking lot is small and fills very quickly. read more

Came in to try and find some Christmas presents for friends and family and stubbled upon a beautiful turquoise silver bracelet. I noticed one of the prongs was broken and was having trouble deciding on whether to get it or not. One of the super friendly staff members noticed I was thinking way to hard and long and asked me if I needed help. I let her know my dilemma and she ended up marking it down for me... SOOOO I took that as a sign from above and got it!! It was such a kind moment and defiantly reminded me why I prefer to shop local. I love and HIGHLY recommend Room Service Vintage!!! read more

Such a cute spot to find some good GEMS ! I found a beautiful butterfly jewelry box & I fell in loveeeee. I spent at least a hour just looking at everything & admiring the whole set up. You walk in & there's literally stuff everywhere. It's super cool though because it's an endless amount of stuff & they have it pretty organized so it's not overwhelming like some places can be if you're an antique shopper like me you knowww! They also had an old fortune teller I was so intrigued by, if it wasn't so expensive I probably would have gotten it just because I used to see it in movies all the time and I think that would be so cool to have. They had lots of home decor as well/ clothes, a little bit of everything. I will definitely be back to see what other hidden gems I can find next time! read more

Please be very careful not to bring too many big bags because you might just bump into something. While visiting another store I was given a pamphlet on all the local antique stores so we decided to check this one out. They have a lot of curated items here. Everything is ecclectic and in good shape. I enjoyed walking through the store and looking at everything. They even have a fabric section. The price was a little high but it's vintage so it's to be expected. If anything you can take some nice photos here. Parking is a bit hard but doable if you go early. read more

The shop has a cool vibe with neat vintage finds that don't break the bank. It's a nice little spot if you're into unique decor and retro style. This vintage store was recommended by a staff at Pavement Thrift store when I asked the cashier for cool places to visit since we were from another State. I'm so happy we shopped here. We actually spent and bought many items then returned with my older daughter who purchased more unique items for her home. I enjoyed the cool vibe at this store. They have something for everyone! This is a very cool store. Tons of Knick knacks to go through and look around for fun, but that's really it. I couldn't think of a single thing I could by that didnt remind me of an old person home and wouldn't really have a place. Felt more like a museum than actual good/unique decor for your home. Everything is super dusty and you can tell it's been here forever, so I'm wondering who actually buys stuff here? Still a very fun experience but overall don't think it's for me. I love thrift stores and when my friend offered to take us to one of the best thrift shops in Austin I was stoked to check it out! We came to this place on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed with people. Before going inside there was a rack of t-shirts and once you got inside the store there was an overwhelming amount of things (including an adorable little dog that was playing behind the counter and stealing the hearts of every single person walking by). This store had absolutely everything from toys, jewelry, men's clothes, shoes, and chairs to women's jewelry, cowboy boots, records, and all the random knick knacks you could possibly need to decorate a living room. This store was fantastic and even though i didn't pick anything up on this particular trip, I did fall in live with the store and the dog. There were a lot of interesting things that were surprisingly well curated given my first impression, which was that it was an unorganized mass of things. It's actually pretty well organized. There was a good "deal of the day" when I came in. Saved me more than $12 on my purchases. Nice! Don't forget to go to the bathroom. Oh! And don't touch those old Playboys. Gross. Part of me wants to keep Room Service a secret bc their vintage finds, especially random housewares like paintings and couches, are so incredible. Then the part of me that recognizes people live when they feel the magic of vintage in their homes wakes up and stops being selfish. Also, people that are moving here playing detective might not do anything but good for the world and their lives will be richer with color and carefull detail. More like RUDE Service vintage, all the employees are so uptight & bitter. Especially the older woman that is at the register. Every time I've came in here, had a horrible experience. Not sure why but I was strangely being followed around the store & felt very much not wanted there. Maybe they're prejudice? Because I am a person of color & Austin isn't shy of having some discriminating establishments. One of my favorite things to do is go antiquing but unfortunately the selection of stores is slim. Sometimes I still find myself doubting if RSV is even real. I cannot BELIEVE a place with such high-quality vintage wares at such affordable prices exists. It is a paradise. It is my mecca!! They do a lot of sales through Instagram, so be sure to stay up on @roomservicevintage if you're looking for something specific. They always point out any wear and tear on their pieces, so you know exactly what you're getting! read more

I'm a pretty experienced shopper with both antique and second hand clothing stores. I would say the quality to price ratio is a little low. I was berated for complaining to my mother that the thrift store was a bit expensive. The cashier yelled at me THIS IS NOT A THRIFT STORE I WASH THESE CLOTHES!!! I explained I'm on disability so I cannot afford it. They continued to berate me. I am disappointed and disturbed by the unprofessional conduct, but wish this business the best. I can get designer vintage clothes or thrift clothes at a much better price elsewhere. read more

Honestly, I always have liked Room Service. It's a bit overpriced, but I have always liked their inventory. I saw something they had posted on their Instagram, and left a comment regarding if the item was still available, and also messaged them directly. No response. I thought I would just go to the store directly. The two guys at the register, didn't seem to want to help me locate the item or even ask their owner if it was available. They acted as though, I was bothering them. One guy was like, "I'll check to see if it's sold." Then, he was just talking shit about me for bothering him to his co-worker. I asked, "any lucky?" His response was, "oh, did you want me to look?" Yes?! After today's interaction, I decided to no longer support this business. If they hire people who don't want to help their customers or the business in general. I'm good! read more

Updating my review to give these guys the 5 stars they deserve. Their prices are overall very fair. More importantly, they are an outstanding local business with a heart. They have taken serious and smart precautions around COVID, and aren't afraid to speak out against injustice (seen most recently by their support of the Black Lives Matter movement). Room Service Vintage is so fun to visit and I LOVE how active they are on Instagram (and that they always post prices). Over the past few weeks, I have noticed a sharp increase in their furniture prices. To be fair, their prices are still affordable and cheaper than most places in Austin, but it still makes me sad since this has been my goto place for cheap and unique vintage furniture and I feel like that is starting to disappear before my very eyes. read more

A really fun place to explore with so many different types of things for people with many different tastes. My favorite vintage shop in town. I've bought major pieces of furniture here, I've bought silly knick-knacks for under $10, and many, many items in between. The inventory is constantly changing but somehow the feel of each section of the store remains consistent over time. Big points for variety, fun, and obtainable price points. If you want pristine specimens of top-name restored mid-century furniture to decorate your new million dollar condo there are places near and far more suited to that pursuit. On the other hand, if you're open to stumbling onto a fun, funky furniture piece that you probably weren't even looking for, Room Service can be full of surprises. And even if you don't give in to make that impulse buy of a $200-500 funky furniture piece, you might find a shirt, pair of pants, old vinyl record or a black velvet painting - maybe even a 60s era framed lenticular image of Jesus, glorious in cheesy kitsch, like I picked up this weekend. You can come in and spend $5 or $500 and walk out with a smile on your face. They were accommodating in holding a big furniture piece for a day or two until I could arrange for pickup/delivery, and helped expertly handle the piece as it was loaded on the truck. They don't typically haggle on prices, which took me aback at first, but the pricing never seems inflated, either. The high turnover at the store affirms the competitive prices - you may need to move quick to secure a new inventory item, but you're not going to be bilked. You could spend hours upon hours in this store just marveling at all the amazing crap they have. Since my mom is a stage 3 hoarder, I usually just leave with one or two items but I could go buck wild in here. Vintage photographs that have no purpose? I'll make those into cards! This dress would be perfect for Halloween! Sexy lamps? I'll take two! Instead, I restrain myself mightily and drool over the fun and funky things. At one point they had a crushed velvet orange and brown couch with a STEREO built in the center seat. The other day roomie, J (Frank's owner) and I were out and about. They needed a new outfit for the evening (country club theme pub crawl) and I was along for the ride to be their tour guide into another world they've never been cool enough to be apart of. They suggested Goodwill, and I had to interject that while Goodwill can be great, there are much better thrift/consignment/real vintage stores within a mile of our house. In fact, I call all the vintage stores on N. Loop the Vintage Strip. There are about 5 or 6 all in this strip tucked in between The Parlor, Phara's etc etc. Now J who is a completely naive guy had never set foot into a vintage store. Upon entering he immediately said "Ewh whats that smell?" And that comment continuted as we went on our vintage shop crawl. That is the smell my friend, of glorious saved/abandoned/restored vintage bliss. I find this little vintage shop to be the best of all the ones I've been to. While others in the area specilize in finding ridiculously, in good shape pieces of clothing, this place has it ALL. What we marveled at mostly was all the affordable priced furniture. And knickknacks. Ooooh the knickknacks rock! So many little random things that can really take you back to another decade you either lived in or had the pleasure of living in. I just kept thinking I love lamp. So many cool, swanky lamps I wanted to take home with me yet have nowhere to put them. You could seriously furnish/decorate your whole house with this store. Sometimes I walk over here (leave the wallet at home) and just look through all the "new" things that come in. Vintage shopping can entertain you for hours upon hours if you allow it. I have found the vintage store of vintage stores. I believe after much discussion, my boyfriend and I will be furnishing the rest of our home from RoomService. The furniture is super cute and very affordable! Unlike some other vintage stores I've found myself in over the years, their furniture, clothing, lighting, YOU NAME IT, is all in fantastic shape! The store is laid out, so though while you have that awesome feeling like you're on an endless treasure hunt, drowning in 1940s Pyrex-y- retro clothing- antique camera- greatness, it's organized so beautifully that it doesn't feel like a clusterf*** of piles of used crap. Room Service is my favorite place to shop in town. It's got lots of reasonably priced furniture, a great selection of kitchen items, crazy art, old magazines, records, vintage clothing, jewelry, and more odds and ends than you can shake a darn stick at. The best part is that every time I go it looks like they've got tons of new stuff. It's like magic to me. I've purchased many things here over the last decade from clothing to a weird toothbrush with boobs and little male parts. Don't worry, no one actually uses the toothbrush, but I couldn't NOT buy it. I bought my couch here for about $200 a couple of years ago, and I also bought my most prized possession, an aluminum Christmas tree, at Room Service. I'll never forget that day. Love at first site. It had to be mine. So if you're like me, and you hate the mall, and you never know what gift to give people, try going in a more eclectic/ sentimental/ whimsical direction at Room Service, where all of your vintage dreams come true! read more
