So I wanted to come show my support and check the store out. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. Everything is super organized and the selections are unique. A nice blend of clothing and shoes (both men and women's), glassware, jewelry, electronics and a bunch of other items. I had so much fun browsing. I found an Anne Taylor top for example that was $12. Score. The prices are reasonable and the selection is varied. It's a very welcoming place and I can't wait to bring friends and shop again. Garment is a sought-after designer vintage shop in Austin. Located on South Lamar, the shop offers a carefully curated collection of high quality women's vintage pieces. The selection embodies fashion forward vintage including well preserved and visually appealing garments. Garment has a boutique rather than a thrift shop persona. I like that clothing was loosely hung on the racks for ease of perusing the items. Bailey, the sales representative, was super patient and kind. She happily showed me anything I wished to see in the store particularly those pieces that were under lock and key. She also offered to reach out to a jewelry designer for different ring sizes...so kind of her. Garment Modern + Vintage is a great destination vintage aficionados and fashion enthusiasts. Found one item! Bailey put it in a beautiful box and bag...very nice touch! While I used a little of my credit today, I still have more to spend.

Treasure City Thrift recently moved into my neighborhood, so I finally stopped in to see what it…read morewas all about. On my first visit, I noticed they had a nice mix of clothing, shoes, glassware, and home décor, so I came back this weekend hoping to browse the clothing racks. I struck out on clothes this time around--not because they didn't have any, just because nothing in my size was quite my style, condition, or price point. That's thrifting, though. You never know what you're going to find, and sometimes the best score is in a completely different aisle. In my case, I walked out with a pair of vintage shoes in excellent condition for only $5, plus several beautiful glass pieces for next to nothing. I'd call that a successful trip! When I drove by on Sunday, they had boxes and boxes of free items out front with people happily digging through them. It was way too hot for me to join the hunt, but once the Texas weather cools off, I definitely will. This feels like one of those thrift stores that's worth stopping into regularly because the inventory is always changing, and you never know what treasure you'll find next.

I had a blast walking around Far Out today and seeing what they had to offer. Kevin was incredibly…read morehelpful and excited to talk about his finds! The space is very truly a thrift shop--bit of everything everywhere in the main room, and it's very fun to walk around and look for little treasures! Kevin explained to me that he rearranges his shop pretty often (he cheekily calls the practice "funk shui") to get people's eyes on different items every time they come in. He tends to get his wares from estate sales, auctions, and considers himself a treasure hunter. And I must agree! Lots of treasures in Far Out, and I loved sifting through them. If you make your way in, you'll likely hear from Kevin that he's open to negotiation and bundling items for reasonable deals. He seems just to be genuinely excited to find cool items and give them new homes. And I appreciate that energy a lot. I came in looking, loosely, for some home decor as my husband and I outfit our home after moving back to Texas from Georgia. But nothing felt quite right on the decor side. But I saw some beautiful pieces and walked out of the store with a vintage book I was excited about. So I consider it a successful trip. :) Make a trip over to check out Kevin's treasures. It is Central to a lot of good stuff and eateries nearby. We often come here on the weekends after stopping off for a bagel around the corner. It seems that many have followed us into here afterwards. There is a great amount of parking out front. The floor plan is open and spread out I like how they have switched up the organization of a layout. I can quickly lose my wife to the racks while I drop into the back area and comb over some of the local artifacts. Often I'm looking for antiques, old toys, some office equipment, and large scale frames. I go through my usual tracks and quickly find what I'm looking for or I end up re-organizing the shelves and put things in where they're supposed to be. The hired help does a decent job, but there are the few who just throw it up on the shelf and call it a day. There's so much donations in the back that they don't really mind where they place it because people like me will either put it in place or make a purchase. I used to snub those who went to Goodwill. They should be calling it. Good fortune instead. It's like urban mining. There are some really good finds. People toss out brand new items to worn through apparel. Sometimes even I find items that I would've bought 20 or 30 years ago and now I have it. My wife and I have made it into an enjoyable hobby to pass the time and reminisce on those things that have been past through the generations.

I've heard of this place several times by a few people. But because of my work schedule, I'm never…read moreable to get there. Finally today I was able to. I just want to say, they are off of 620, so you think it would be easy to find. But it's a little bit of a maze. It's almost like you're going to the hotel that is there, but then swing around to the back of the hotel. Once you find it, you'll know the next time. It's a little confusing. The parking lot right in front is somewhat small. But there is some parking to the side of the building before you drive to the front of the building. They also have handicap parking spots available too. I did take a video of the parking lot. As you enter, to the left is women's clothing. On the right is beautiful dish ware sets. Towards the back they have hand bags, and kitchen ware. In the back right corner is books and in the middle on the right is kids clothing and men's. They do have a lot of jewelry in the middle, and that's where the cashiers are to check out customers. Places like this seem like they move inventory pretty quickly. So if you see something, buy it up. Might not be there the next time. I bet they get a lot of new inventory often. (Although I don't know for sure) Racks are pretty organized by size. So it makes it easy to go through. I did see some high end brand names. I'm glad I was able to check them out. I think it's geared towards older customers. Not exactly what I would be looking for. But now I know.
