You drive up, drop off your stuff, tell them your zip code and they give you a dated tax receipt (that you fill out yourself).

Which takes me to the city of Folsom where we both had the opportunity in checking out "Snowline Thrift Store". Located directly on East Bidwell St and adjacent to Glenn Dr, this very well-known thrift store has been serving the Folsom community and its surrounding areas dating back to 1979. Best of all, the money that is collected goes towards hospice care for a variety of hospitals and care facilities in the greater Sacramento area. My lady and I came here during the afternoon on Saturday 5/30/2026 at around 3:00pm. As for the exterior of building, this place offers ample parking for a couple dozen vehicles which is very convenient on the busier days. Upon entry, I was greeted by a huge jukebox (that sounded amazing) playing lots of great upbeat music; my kind of vibe when I am thrifting. The main register is near the front entrance while there are actual fitting rooms (unlike Goodwill) where you can try your clothes on before you buy. Finally, they do offer a single one-person restroom towards the mid-rear part of the building. Business hours are also quite reasonable as they are open Monday through Saturday from 9am-7pm and Sunday from 11am-7pm. The overall prices here are quite reasonable as they sell a nice assortment of men's, women's, and children's apparel all at decent prices. Here you will find quite a bit of tees, polos, blouses, pants, jeans, skirts, outerwear, ties, shoes, and much more. They also carry a nice variety of glasses, dishes, small kitchen appliances, home apparel, artificial plants, mirrors, artwork, and even larger items such as tables, recliners, curio cabinets, and bedroom/living room furniture. And for the bookworm/audiophile in all of us, this place sells quite a decent amount of books, movies (VHS/DVD), music (vinyl records/CD's). During our visit, my lady was able to make a few amazing purchases on some small accessories for her workstation as well as some nice little side pieces for the living room. Even when she took these items to the front register, they gave her a better deal which meant she left paying a lot less than she had anticipated. However, the store itself was a little bit cluttered but still easy enough to navigate around. With the above average customer service, decent selection, and very reasonable prices on much of their merchandise, I am giving the Folsom "Snowline Thrift Store" an above average four stars.

I will begin by stating that I appreciate the services that Snowline Thrift supports. I believe…read morethey likely make an important impact in the lives of the people they serve. For the thrift shop itself, they have a wide assortment of items available for sale. Home items, clothing, music, etc. I feel that some things are priced well, while others are overpriced. For instance, they had a power wheelchair in the shop priced at $4,000. I work in the wheelchair industry, so I understand that this chair has value, however, this wheelchair also has a repair history as noted on the back of the chair. For a thrift shop that has a mission of supporting families through such difficult times, I would hope that they would make the pricing on durable medical equipment more accessible to those who truly need it. This is a custom power chair, meaning it won't be a perfect fit for whoever buys it. There would likely need to be modifications and potential repairs, which would be even more out of pocket cost for the family. Other than that, spend time looking around at what else is offered. I liked looking through the home decor.

I explained that I could no longer attend because I needed to be present for the funeral and ceremony, but my request was still denied. What made the experience worse was that Dave Wilkerson, Director of ACAI Studios & Gallery, personally doubled down on the decision despite the circumstances. A policy is one thing, but compassion and basic humanity should still matter. Being treated this rigidly during a family loss was honestly upsetting and disappointing. I would not recommend supporting an organization that responds this way to someone dealing with a bereavement emergency. Would you want to be treated this way after losing a family member?

I ended up making about 5 pieces throughout the four classes. We glazed during our fourth and final class, meaning we had to return to find our pieces. When I came back the fifth week, my pieces were still not fired in the kiln yet. So I decided to come back in two weeks. That's where I ran into my issue. All of our completed pieces are in a separate room where the glazing happens. There was another instructor, bald lady who I believe instructs the hand throwing class, who was teaching her class how to glaze. My friend and I were looking for our pieces, trying to be as quiet as possible. However, noise is going to be made as we're rummaging through a bunch of finished pieces. There are about four separate sections where our pieces could be, so as we were going through the finished pottery pieces, someone from her class asked my friend and I to be quiet, which we were already trying to be as quiet as possible. She said that we were being rude and disruptive. However, this is just the nature of this room. People are going to be going in and out, trying to find their pieces, as they only place the finalized pieces here. This is when I expected the bald instructor to speak up but she was super rude as well. She was demeaning and condescending towards us. She talked down to us as if my friend and I were 5 years old. When we were looking through the non fired pieces, she raised her voice telling us not to touch the pieces if they weren't ours. The issue is, when you paint the glaze, not only does your piece look completely different, but the glaze is all different types of crazy colors. The only way to verify if the piece is yours is if you find your name on the bottom of the piece. So not only were we not able to verify if those pieces were ours, as the instructor was giving us attitude, we weren't able to find all of our pieces. We went back to our instructor, who was kind enough to find our pieces for us. Overall, we had a good experience but that last instructor really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm conflicted on what score to give, and really feel as though how are you an instructor when you are so rude? For sure left a bad taste in my mouth.
