On a mission to font French Onion Soup bowls

I popped in looking for some decor for work. I always like digging in thrift stores because you find the best vintage or French Country or even modern goodies, not to mention all the other items they sell like clothes, books, toys, etc. I like to think of thrift stores as shopping in someone's house. How many times have you been at someone's house & thought or said "Oh wow, that is so cool, I love it"! Well this is where peeps recycle gently used, like new or even NWT items. I donate all the time and I love how most thrift stores are a part of an organization that also "recycles" their profits to assit people. Did not find any Knick knacks today but scored three BNWT Michael Kors ties for $2.99 each - WOWZERS! As others have mentioned, this is a small store so obvi selection is smaller & it can also tend to get cluttered quicker but all-in-all still a very decent shop! Note: they close @8:00pm Mon-Sat & @6:00pm on Sundays. As always, peeps, support your local biz especially when they give back to your community!

    11/23/19...this was unexpected...

11/23/19 Found an unexpected movie at this store. The 1998 copy of a tv movie called Merlin. It is the best Merlin moive I have seen. This store has been here for some time, but up until now, I have never set foot in here. I am not so sure I will buy clithes here, but I certainly will donate clothing here. The place has a number of staff members restocking clothing and doing their best to keep it clean. I found the lines to a bit long with only one cashier, but he was pleasant to talk to. Apparently he is a Washington Redskins fan, but isn't happy with the teams performance. He saw me in my Baltimore Ravens gear and wished my team well in the up coming game...okay that not really what he said, but close enough to the truth. I will be back again to see what movies are being sold here...

I think because of its location its not as often frequented as the Glebe Rd.

I came to Santa Cruz Island, about 25 miles from the shores of Santa Barbara in Southern…read moreCalifornia, with nature conservation not necessarily my intention, but essentially to activate the island's mobile wireless communications, which happens to be my profession. We took the CIA plane from Camarillo Airport on a twin-engine STOL (Short Take Off & Landing) Cessna, which took about 25 minutes of smooth over-water flight. CIA (Channel Islands Aviation) is the official concessionaire to California's Channel Islands National Park and The Nature Conservancy. Talking to the island staff of The Nature Conservancy, whose mission is protecting nature and preserving life, I've learned a bit of history of Santa Cruz Island and what they've accomplished here thus far. The western 80% of the island is owned and operated by The Nature Conservancy. Here, the Department of Earth Science of UCSB (University of California-Santa Barbara) administers the Santa Cruz Island Natural Reserve and maintains a research station. The eastern 20% of the island is owned by the National Park Service and is open to public visitation. Once on the brink of ecological collapse, Santa Cruz Island now offers visitors a glimpse of what southern California used to be like hundreds of years ago. The Conservancy worked with the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Fish and Game, to engage in an intensive science-based restoration program, to save and revitalize the natural communities of Santa Cruz Island. After three decades of tireless work, Santa Cruz Island has emerged as a successful island restoration and innovative conservation, focused on preserving the island's unique plants and animals and sharing lessons learned in island restoration with the whole world. I don't really consider myself a conservationist, but on my return flight back to Camarillo Airport, I looked down at the island below with a different perception and perspective. For what it's worth, I made a personal donation online and join as a member of The Nature Conservancy.
