Im updating my review. This location is my favorite out of all of them. I'm not always happy with their prices as it seems a bit inflated for some things but, all in all, I enjoy this store the most. Staff is *always* nice and welcoming. I do notice a bigger selection here than other locations. Overall pleased with my visit to this Goodwill! They had a good selection of items and I felt like the prices were quite reasonable compared so some other Goodwills. Only gripe I have is that there were quite a bit of clothes on the floor that could have been tidied up. Cashiers were friendly and quick though! Would shop here again! read more

The employee working on the sales floor couldn't speak any English, so she wasn't able to tell me where to look for an item. So, I had to walk all the way over to the front of the store to find an employee to answer my question. The cashier answered my question. And she tried to tell me three times that 'yes', the employee on the sales floor by the back wall knew how to speak English. I shook my head and told her 'No she doesn't all three times. Then I told the cashier that the woman only spoke in Spanish, and could not understand my question at all. Then I had to walk all the way back of the store again to find what I was looking for, after the cashier told me where to look. read more

It's always refreshing being greeted by a smiling face & seeing that someone genuinely enjoys what they do in a world where everyone hates their job. I was finished dropping off my bottles and cans at BottleDrop and was about to head back to Hillsboro to go to the Goodwill on Century as the one near Shute had transformed into a Mexican restaurant. I was about to turn into Safeway when I saw one right next door. I quick made a right into the parking lot. There was a very long line, but it moved very quickly and the attendant was very nice and provided me a reciept. I will definitely be timing my Goodwill donations with my recycling runs. read more

I got played here. I got shoes from the expensive section where they only have one of the two shoes on display. Turns out they're cheaper to buy brand new with warranty than I paid for used ones from this Goodwill!! Careful folks. Even Goodwill has the nerve to juke ya these days. read more

I have always loved this Goodwill location and have been going here since I was young however the last few months the books and movies shelves never have anything new out in fact there are actually bare shelves with no items on them which has never happened before, I was concerned they were going out of business like the location in Hillsboro but none of the workers seemed to think so.... But it's sad that a once great location to update my library is now not even a top location to look for books and movies anymore.. read more

Eh, this place is okay for finding kitchen items, but the crazy cat lady in the teacup aisle constantly playing cat noises on a toy cat for the half an hour I was there definitely makes me not want to come back. This place was pretty sparse on kitchen appliances though, so I was disappointed. There were plenty of old stereo receivers and disc changers there, so if that's your fix then this might be the place for you! However... You'll have to battle it out with the other dozen older men swarming the 12-15 foot stretch of shelving to get what you want. Seriously, I have never seen so many grown men crowded around a shelf at a thrift store. Weird. read more

I normally don't write a lot of reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for this Goodwill. I've been occasionally visiting (maybe once every few months) the Forest Grove Goodwill for several years now and have yet to be disappointed. It's clean, organized, and I've never left empty-handed. Whoever runs this store has put a color-coding system into effect, which makes it extremely easy to find whatever it is you're looking for very quickly. This system also lets the customer see what might be available in a color they are looking for. That comes in handy, especially when looking through what seems like miles of clothes racks. Great organization! This store also has a fantastic selection of children's books and I always love perusing to select several (okay, a lot) for my own classroom library. The books are pretty well organized, too. While I was checking out yesterday, I mentioned how much I appreciated the organization of the items in the store to a cashier and she said she would pass the word along. Just in case she forgot, here it is. Thank you, Goodwill employees, for making my shopping trips efficient and fun! read more

After intermittently shopping at Forest Grove Goodwill for the last year, I have to agree with Marie K. and how little can be found when searching for the Color of the Day. I have questioned the pricing since coming across two pair of roller blades, one broken marked $6.99 and the other newer looking, no price tag. I brought both up. A snotty cashier informed me that the newer pair was $12.99, I couldn't believe that much of a mark-up since the broken pair was price point @$7 unfortunately I couldn't afford the roller blades and walked away after protesting their pricing. Crying grandchild in tow. They don't care about making the sale, all the inventory is free. Today I tried to shop @the store and again, deal with a snotty cashier and a policy that we could not use my son in laws credit card. Mind you we have been shopping at Exxon for gas(no problem), Walmart (no problem), McDonalds (no problem) all credit card transactions. Goodwill Problem. The reasoning behind this is to prevent credit card theft, I get it, however as a daughter of a truck driver I grew up witnessing my mom having to "forge" his signature when he was OTR. We have been in our community for a year now, we build retail relationships, we're not criminals. These are donated goods, not gold bricks. I have to ask exactly what good does Goodwill do for our community? Minimum wage jobs....that's about all. At least I can see where Salvation Army's contributes. Goodwill not so much. Visited Goodwill in Forest Grove yesterday; once again noticed the 1/2 price color seemed absent or scanty.....in this event, green. I've assumed professional (ebay?) shoppers quickly snatch up nice half-off items, that's cool. (However, my visit last Sunday (day of color change) to a Portland Goodwill also yielded very, very few 'green' tags.....the ebay-ers must be an energetic bunch of motivated early-birders. ) Yesterday, finally got a clue: a cart, not full, maybe 20 items, was being pushed into the workoom next to the public toilettes. THE CART CONTAINED ONLY GREEN-TAGGED ITEMS. Wow, that's where the 1/2 price items go....to be retained til the following week perhaps?? It makes sense: a minimum wage worker (say $10) spends an hour gathering up $50? $100? worth of items.....presto, a cash register savings to the store of $25 or $50 worth of inventory. I'll still go in occasionally, but will not expect to see much in the 'color of the week' for real bargains. Kinda of tricky fake incentive, takes the fun factor down a notch. read more

I have frequented many thrift stores and Goodwill stores in my time and I must say in my personal opinion, this particular Goodwill is terrible. First of all, the pricing is all wrong; ripped, stained, and extremely dingy clothes selling for $7.99 or $9.99. Clothes that are torn or otherwise disgusting should not cost this much let alone be sold in a store with the mission statement of enhancing " the dignity and quality of life of individuals and families by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and helping people in need reach their full potential through learning and the power of work." Just shameful. Secondly, the customer service is completely lacking. As someone who has worked in customer service for over 5 years I can relate to rude customers, bad days, and ridiculous company policies but this particular Goodwill seems to employ some of the rudest and nastiest cashiers I have ever dealt with. I have visited this store a handful of times and inevitably I get the worst cashier known to man, Every. Single. Time. Snarky comments, eye rolling, gum smacking cashiers. I say hello, I'm not talking on my phone and still I get treated poorly no matter who my cashier is. I will never visit this store again. read more
