I always find it to be an easy process to drop off donations at this Goodwill. It's centrally located and near the Safeway on Beretania. It's not too hard to get to, and once you get there, you drive in to their garage and there's a pull-through spot where you can stop and drop off your donations. Every time I've gone, there's been a worker there who responds quickly and comes over to my car with a rolling cart to help collect donations. They always ask me if I need a receipt for donation purposes. It's quick and simple and I don't have to do much more than unload my trunk. I've never been behind more than one car, and usually there's no line at all. Easy, helpful spot to donate your goods or to buy new-to-you items. read more

Lots of different wares, clothes, etc. items to choose from. I came here to buy a suitcase so I could bring more souvenirs home! I found a medium sized one for about $12.99 that probably would have been $80 if I bought brand new at Walmart. I noticed Aloha shirts are around $14.99 which is not that much cheaper than if I bought brand new at Ross or Costco. Still I like shopping at thrift stores b/c you can get lots of good finds at bargain prices. read more

I can only say something about the donation center since I haven't been inside the thrift store. The staff who received my donations have always been courteous and happy. They're also thankful for my donations. They always remembered to offer me a receipt. Today I got a Popeyes 10% off coupon too! The location is also convenient. It's right behind Kaiser, entering on Young St (even though the address is beretania.) you can do a drive thru drop off, one way in one way out, which is very convenient! No need to find parking and walk inside the store at all. There's also seldom a line, and even if there were cars in front of me, it would just be 1 or 2. Bought a coat that was too small for my grandma. Was told by the cashier return policy was 7 days. Came back in day 5 and was told absolutely not, it's 3 days. I can get behind if this was a high end retail but this is a thrift store where I contribute to the sales with my donation, nonetheless to NOT even receive store credit is just saddening. This Goodwill Hawaii is located on Beretania Street and recently had a complete renovation, and it looks amazing. My daughter told me that she wanted to go "thrifting" which is the new generations way of telling you that they want to go to a used clothing store due to concerns over the environment and "fast fashion". It's been a long time since I've been to Goodwill, but we thought we try this location that had been recently renovated. It's really beautiful inside, clean, and everything was very well organized, which is much improvement from before. They had a good selection of women's clothes, household items, including brand new Halloween decorations, as well as a reasonable selection of books, CDs, and shoes. Being a total bookworm, my daughter started looking in the book section while I was perusing the housewares. We also looked through a pretty nice selection of Halloween decor. Prices are posted based on the clothing type, and clothing items are not individually priced like before. They still do have weekly specials, depending on the color tag of the item. For example if this week is green tags, then all green tags items will be 50% off. We found some great books, Halloween decorations, dresses, as well as some shoes that looked barely worn. Pick up for eBay auctions is pretty convenient. You'll message them to pick up. And pick up from the driveway side door entrance. But shopping in store. Ugh, it's okay. You can tell they have resellers. Who'll literally hunt down/follow the employees while bringing out new items. They have a huge selection...but like many others have noticed in reviews. They really aren't the best with customer service around their restrooms. Asked the security guard in the front, he doesn't know the code. Asked the cashier. I need to find an employee near the restroom. All of the employees are rushing by to put out their items. Find one employee near the back door. She can't leave her post. This place is HUGE and so organized!!!!!! I had won a few items thru eBay and you need to enter thru the little ally between McDonald's and the actual store to pick up your online items. But they are so quick because the organization is on another level. Pick up is always so easy and the staff is super friendly and efficient. The main store part is also great! So much selection here, you will def be here a while especially if you have the patience to look around and REALLY look for those treasures. read more

Wow, Goodwill looks nice now! Clean and spacious aisles full of clothes, books, household items, and other goods and treasures for you to pick from. Free, very tight parking. Easy drive thru donations. And the best of all, it doesn't smell musty, old, and dank. The staff here are all very friendly, and are always restocking the organizing the shelves. With the vintage and reselling game increasingly popular, it's been hard to actually find something useful or exciting. Each time I go, I seen someone holding their phones scanning or taking photos of items checking how much they're going for on eBay. Overall, this Goodwill is new, clean, bright, and organized. Today is National Give Something Away Day. As we all are trying our best to recycle, reuse and rethink how to make Mother Earth a happier place, I'm still in my downsizing phase and with all our struggles it's always nice to donate items I no longer need. The Beretania location is all done with its remodeling and is absolutely beautiful! I'm sure if we feel it the staff behind the scenes must be over them moon with its new refreshing vibe. The layout seems all the same with more additional parking is convenient it's just great to see they finally have a more updated environment to continue its mission. I guess this is the month of reopenings.... So why not another reopening review? Goodwill has seemingly finished the remodeling of their Beretania location, opening it to the public. The entire store is now indoors, with air conditioning. They've moved the men's and home over to where the women's used to be and women's and books over to where the men's used to be. The outdoor section of homewares is no longer accessible. Otherwise, it's the same style of donated clothes, housewares, seasonal stuff, etc. There's also an outlet section where items are not sorted but in bins for people to rummage through. It's located in the former next door auto shop that is converted into a warehouse and accessible down the driveway into the former auto shop. Staff are wearing masks, with physical distancing and customer masks required. Parking is still a mess, with mostly street parking as your best bet. read more

Excellent organized walking friendly, by the neighborhood goodwill store. There is a few parking spots by the back where the donation center is. When you come here, I highly recommend bringing anything you no longer need, it'll always help the community. They have a nice section of books, CDs, DVDs and shoes. They're clothing section is nicely organized into women, men and children. Overall this place is well maintained. I didn't see any bathrooms; it may be due to covid, if there isn't I highly recommend one. Some of the shoes are literally new! Still with tags and all. Went to Goodwill to drop off donations. I was the 3rd car in line so I waited. When I drove my car up to unload, a lady on a moped pulled up the the driver's side of my car. Three guys walked over to help her and left me to unload my car myself. Really, I should have drove off to Salvation Army. I had to wait for them to finish to get a reciept. He handed my the receipt and walked over to the lady on the moped. I guess if you have a moped you don't have to wait in line and you'll have all the guys disregard you to help the moped. read more

Lately I've been feeling a way about mass consumerism, fast fashion, and our ever piling landfill.. I'm attempting to reduce, reuse, and recycle more and what better way to do that then to thrift shop! I popped in to Goodwill on Beretania a couple days ago just to scope it out and pick up a few things for my kids. The parking was easy- it's located in the rear of the store on young street. When I went maybe and hour before closing the parking lot was empty. My first impression was how absolutely neat and tidy this place is. They clearing take pride in their work and do a great job of organizing and cleaning the place. There is a pretty large selection of adult clothing with several sizes, anywhere from XS-2X. I saw some higher end brand names that were priced well. My only wish was that they had a larger kids section. The kids section was very small when compared with the adults section which was a bummer since my reason for coming in was for them. I did score some brand new Christmas pajamas with the tag on for only $5. That will def come in handy for our Xmas party this weekend! My go-to place to donate stuff. They make it super easy with an efficient drive through lane and helpful staff to help you offload who are polite and thankful. I do see people dropping off crap. Stuff like broken printers and grungy small appliances. I would highly discourage this. It's sad to see what Goodwill has become. For years, I have enjoyed shopping at Goodwill because I felt they gave valuable items at bargain prices. My peak goodwill experiences occurred between 2018-2019. During that time, I enjoyed three goodwill locations (Cooke St., Kaimuki, and S. Beretania) + the as is bins. Now, the Cooke St. and Kaimuki goodwills have closed so my only retail shopping-goodwill store left in town is S. Beretania. Where once you could find great valuable or vintage clothes brands, Nintendo Wiis, PS2s, and interesting novelties, nowadays you can only find overpriced, stained, torn shirts from Izod and Old Navy, no consoles (maybe a broken, cordless Xbox 360....yay), and rejected target returns marked above their original price! The downfall of Goodwill began in early 2020 in my opinion, when Goodwill started sorting more carefully through their donations and putting anything of value on Shop Goodwill - their online auction. Gone are the days of "bargain finds" and instead we have Goodwill that "sells individual items to the highest bidder," milking as much money out of their gullible, dwindling customer base. It's now 2021 and it seems for a couple years now, I haven't felt that ".....wowwwww!" factor when shopping at Goodwill....never at all lately. I mean sure, you can occasionally find something unique, but it's like finding a needle in a haystack. (That's why I gave this review a 2-stars instead of a 1-star - goodwill nowadays sucks most of the time with the occasional score once in a blue moon.) Goodwill now only has one retail store left in town, so what do they need to do? They need to start offering better value for bargain prices again. Move more of their valuable inventory back into the stores and let the treasure hunting resume once again. Until then, Goodwill is basically a scalping reseller company trying to pretend it's a "charity" - if you believe this propaganda, you are being played. read more

I've done early drop off in the mornings after 8am. I think the store opens at 10. They don't accept large furnitures items. I've donated a shelf before which I could carry by myself. I usually mostly donate clothing's old and new, not used, and small electronic items which I don't use anymore like blenders and toasters. The staff is nice and happy when you donate. They ask if you want a receipt for donation and you should always say yes if you want to claim your donations on your taxes. There's a dollar listing on the website on how much your donations cost. Great, fairly large thrift store in Honolulu! We popped in looking for some authentic Hawaiian-made mumus, and we found so many beautiful ones. Great selection of aloha shirts too. Review is only to reflect my experience on 8/26/21 at probably 830 or so. Arrived at the drive-thru at 810 to make a donation and to my surprise, the garage door was down! So I parked at the nearby street parking just several yards away and waited but even several minutes later, the door still remained shut!! What's particularly bad is I was bored waiting so decided to go to McDonald's and nearly got hit from behind in their parking lot, the only reason my going there spur-of-the-moment due to Goodwill not being open when they should've been! It's one thing to be late opening by a couple or few minutes, but by 15 minutes at least is just unacceptable, unprofessional and lazy. To top it off the worker was surly. If I ever go back to this location I for sure won't go when it shortly after the drive-through is supposed to open lest they're reluctant to open on time or even close to it! read more

This is probably the largest Goodwill on the island! If you enter from the back, where there is a small, free parking lot, you'll be in the men's department. If you enter from the front door on Beretania Street, you'll be in the women's department. Between the two areas is a children's section. Outside, there's a housewares department, and further up a ramp is a furniture and books section! My friend and auntie from the mainland really enjoy shopping here. My auntie bought Aloha shirts and muumuus - if they were the wrong size, she could alter them or make something else with the fabric! My friend got clothing for her sons - these were name brand items at discounted prices! This is a fun place for bargain hunting! There are many treasures in store for everyone here. .. and you'll help the community and assist individuals indirectly with job skills! I love Goodwill but this store, and many in Hawaii are getting way out of hand with their pricing. Today they had a lot of new Halloween items and most the items had these tiny white price tags on them. None that I saw had a goodwill price tag. I grabbed some fake spider webbing that said $2.99. Took it to the counter and she scanned the bag's barcode (note that its not the goodwill tag) and said it was $3.99. I pointed out the small price tag, she brought out a manager, manager said its $3.99 and she "can't help if other people switch the tags". I tried to point out how every one of the halloween items have these small white price tags on them but she didn't want to listen to me. Its just frustrating because this is not the first time I've seen this Goodwill charge more for items than what they cost at their original retail store. They get a lot of stuff from target and Ive seen things labeled $5 on the target packaging and the goodwill tag says $6. Just make it make sense. read more

I've been trying to stay away from Goodwill due to shady labor practices, but I caved since I haven't been finding what I needed and drive by this location on King frequently. Didn't seem like it had very much, but OHH, there's a whole nother level outside with housewares, overstock items like school supplies, crafts and brand new shoes from what looks like Ross/TJ Maxx/Target and furniture. I found just what I needed - a couple of junk pants for work days on the farm, and even what looked like nearly new Patagonia pants (though a size too big) for around $6-7 each. I also got some long sleeve shirts that were in really good condition (athletic wear) and a set of pasta bowls (7 for $8) and some plates to use as chic plant holders. (4 for $5). Large selection of items, though furniture was much more limited. Store was relatively clean and nice smelling. That's a plus. I didn't feel disgusting after shopping here, which is often the case. I'd come back here again! I also signed up for their rewards card, which essentially gives you 5% back in gift card cash to use on your next purchase. On the day I was there, Sunday 10/22, they were also having 20% off on yellow and red tag items, so some of my clothes were also discounted. read more
