(wasn't that busy in the store) before I got help from a girl wearing sweets, like it was casual day. She had little product knowledge and didn't seem to know how to help. Maybe they were short staffed and they threw her on the floor. I felt I could have done just as good if I went to Walmart and did it myself. I write this review reluctantly. (Only because I don't really want other people to discover this…read morehidden gem.) I've played here for several years now. I think I first played the course approximately 9-10 years ago. I've basically been in love ever since. I went from driving over to play while on vacation to simply staying at the condos on-site. It's that good. The condos are very nice, too, by the way. The layout is extremely interesting/challenging. If you like to grip and rip driver on every tee, find another course. In fact, I only hit driver off of approximately 6-7 tees. It's very much a shotmaker's course, and not just on the approach. Besides the superb layout, the course is always in tip-top shape. The greens are neither especially fast or slow, but they're always in good condition and roll true. If you have a spouse who doesn't play but is game for riding along on occasion, this is a good course for that. It's half golf and half nature ride. It's an Audubon-certified course, but there's a lot of other wildlife/nature to see, too. Honestly, I think I could just ride around here without playing and be entertained. In all seriousness . . . the water hazard that borders 14/17/18 . . . watch out for alligators. I've nearly stepped on some while looking for balls. The only negatives: 1. The adjoining Crooked River Grille (overall a net plus, but somewhat of an underachiever; see my separate yelp review for it) 2. If you stay and play, guests can't - EVER - take carts over to the condos (which are located ON the course, between holes 14/17/18). While it seems minor, this is kind of a big deal to my family and me. In the old days, I would basically get a cart when we got here, put my clubs on it, and just change out as needed based on battery life. That way, my wife could come and go as she wished (i.e., go shopping, to the beach, etc.). Now we have to plan all comings/goings/tee times very carefully.

There is a second building with a sub shop and smoke shop, and standalone structures for a burger chain and a breakfast shop. Easy entrances from both the west and the north, neither of which are supported by traffic lights. There remains some empty storefronts but the shopping center is in reasonable condition.
