The cashier stated I needed to give my name,address,phone#,and email in order to get the senior discount! seriously? I didn't want an account! I ended up paying full price! rather than forwarding my info, what's next my drivers license? Social Security#? then she had the nerve to ask me to round up....really? heck no.. their color tags is a DUM system its like looking for a needle in a haystack! and the prices are high so go to SAVER'S. read more

The store is not very well kept and hard to shop. CDs are stacked one on top of another in a table. Many items are clearly broken.

The selection isn't bad, but the prices seem high (compared to Salvation Army and a couple local shops).

I will start by saying: I used to love the "thrift life". Goodwill used to be one of my mainstays. This store used to be fun to walk around, hunting for things I needed and the occasional "treasure". No more! It's an open secret that all the best stuff gets shipped out to "listing locations". Gone are the days of local being kept local. All the best gets leeched out of local economies and sent to "higher end" areas, where they can get the most for it. Don't believe me? Check their website! $40,000 rings! $500 Nintendos! Goodwill has lost sight of their mission! They think they are a high-end boutique shop... seriously! This is a USED-ITEM SHOP of which everything they get is FREE! Most of it is very dirty, missing parts, or plain does not work! Lol, what world are we living in, that they think they can get these prices? A heavily used, scuffed, 10+ year old, dirty, stinking, caked with hair, missing beater bar, no attachments vacuum for $100+... seriously, Goodwill? Look up how much the CEO of this "used-item shop" gets... your eyes will leap out of your head. Also, ever since their "war on re-listers", their asking prices have gone insane! I know it's a "war on re-listers" because I heard it straight from the horses mouth! I was walking by the front cashier area, and saw a well dressed middle-aged man over to the side (what I assume is the manager, never saw him often, only coming to the front if there was a problem. Probably in the back, rubbing his hands together, pondering how much he can fleece people) talking to someone he knew. They were laughing about how much their prices increased, taking joy in the collateral damage their "crusade" was causing to regular shoppers like me, and my wife. I remember him saying, "It's not my job to make sure re-listers can get the most in returns! It's to make sure we do! Hahaha!" I've given this goodwill, and others, multiple chances. No more! Unfortunately, I'm done with thrifting, and it's sad. I liked giving old items new life, keeping things out of landfills, but why would I pay $20 for something, heavily used, when it's brand new for $25? They need to be called out on this! More, honest reviews on their practices is a start! You've lost 2 customers, not to mention family and friends we know that say the same thing. Taking advantage of people, it makes me sick! This is probably the worst Goodwill I've ever been to. The Rocky Hill and Bloomfield locations have better selections though they can be hit or miss, but at least sometimes they're a hit. This location is always a miss. And it smells. read more

Bought 2 pickle ball paddles, one priced at $2 and the other priced at $3. I asked why they were different prices because they were the same make. Cashier comes back with BOTH of the paddles marked at $3!!! HONOR YOUR PRICES. If you won't change the higher price then at least KEEP the other one as it was!!! read more

If you need to add to your wardrobe or need some kitchen items or maybe some holiday flair, stop by! I needed some nice dress pants but didn't want to spend $50, I ended up finding almost-new Old Navy pants for $3.19! Yup, you read that right, just over $3! I'm between sizes on my weight loss journey and don't want to spend a bunch of money on clothes that won't fit me in the long run, so this place is perfect! When the clothes are too big I can donate them back, and help provide employment for people who may not be given a chance at a different store, and someone else looking for a deal will get one. Win/win! read more

They are a for profit organization with the CEO making millions a year. That being said, they filter out all of the nice, collectible items and sell them online. They sell broken, cracked, chipped, ripped merchandise at high prices; all the junk. Sure, once in awhile you can find a good bargain. But repeatedly, I have purchased an item and low and behold, when I have gotten home, there is something wrong with it and they will not take it back. Today was the last time. P.S. any of the good reviews, if you notice, are from years ago. And yes, I have been shopping Goodwill for almost 30 years. They USED to be a good place to shop. Now the stores are just a high priced dumping ground to unload their cheap, unprofitable stuff. Go online to their auction site and you will see quite a difference in their merchandise. I have never really bought anything from this or any other goodwill. But I always go out of my way to donate to Goodwill, my gently used clothes as well as Tech etc. (e.g., today I donated a Bluetooth speaker, which works great but got a new one, and don't have the energy to sell it). For a moment, I had thought that I would just go with Amazon recycling, given my past experience with this particular Goodwill. However, the rude employee problem seems systematic here (see other reviews). Generally when you donate at Goodwill (I am from another state), the employees look happy and are friendly. However, the employees here act extremely entitled. Not a simple hello is offered. And today the employee grabs the bag out of my hand, and walks inside without so much as asking me whether I need a receipt. I never ask for a receipt, but the sense of entitlement really got to me. Might as well donate in those donation bins that you find all around town, rather than choose to be insulted, and disrespected by the staff at this Goodwill location! read more

As others have mentioned, this Goodwill location has one of the most efficient drive-through donation drop-off service! There's always a helpful attendant to assist you with unloading. Compared to other Goodwill, Salvation Army, or thrift store setups- this particular one in Manchester is cleaner than most and well organized. Easy to navigate, it's well-maintained and never smelly or overly dusty. I often visit this location in hopes of finding some type of thrift-store treasure. But on numerous occasions I find myself leaving empty-handed. Just once I'd like to walk away with a sport coat I can have custom tailored, or maybe a pair of vintage watches to take home! I have been able to score some really RUSTIC looking furniture, and random home-goods and housewares though! read more

How have I not written a review for this place yet? I go there probably once to twice a month. I always find something decent here. Of late, I've been most impressed with the book selection, the kids toys, and the homegood section. I've found some great Xmas cards, wrap, and gift bags for super cheap. They even have cheap Hanukkah items. I enjoy their Boutique section and I usually am impressed with the shoes. I really enjoy this store and have scored some great finds for myself and friends. The staff are very friendly, I've donated and the donation drop off staff are exceptional. They will take the things out of your car for you. As with any Goodwill, you will need to search through the racks and shelves but when you score a real treasure, you'll feel like Indiana Jones finding the Lost Arc. Large store, great staff, good name brands for cheap, I'm in LURVE. read more

Cleaner, more organized, and better customer service than many other Goodwill stores - but still, not too great terms of selection. I used to live in Manchester and must say - this store has the most EFFICIENT drive through donation drop-off service. I literally still drive here to make clothing donations instead of heading to the Hartford location closer to my apartment. I LOVE thrift stores but don't really find much in terms of clothing here. Nearby Platos Closet and Uptown Consignment are lightyears ahead of Goodwill for clothing brands/trends/quality. The housewares collection isn't bad though, by any means. I tend to go through phases for DIY and art projects and have come across some great finds here! Glassware, ceramics, you name it. Worth diggin' around! read more

I grew up shopping in thrift stores, and while I didn't love it as a kid (what kid didn't want spankin' new things?), I quickly understood the worth of Goodwill once I started shopping for clothes on my own on a modest budget. I also realized why Goodwill meant so much to my parents, who (somehow) managed to raise and send 5 kids to college with their savings over the years (love you Mom and Dad)! That being said, not all thrift stores are created equal, and despite years of practice in Minnesota, learning to shop the Connecticut thrift store scene wasn't easy. But it paid off in the end. I'm talking learning to strategically use your Goodwill loyalty card and color tag sales to your advantage, knowing which stores to frequent, where in the store to look first. Doing so meant (and continuous to mean) I can always find something to buy at the price point I want. This past Sunday it was an Eastern Mountain Sports sweatshirt for $6. The week before it was two, seemingly brand new, slim fit button-downs for $2.50 a piece. I also share a "shopper's high" with Yelper Christi G., who appears to have also scored a cashmere sweater for under $7. Not even Minnesota thrift stores can match that! What's more, given how close this Goodwill is to my church -- and Big Y -- it's very convenient to do a Sunday afternoon clothing and grocery trip without moving my car. That's a win in my book! As with any thrift stores, your mileage may vary and the more you frequent a store, the more likely you'll find that diamond in the rough. But save for any better thrift store I can find in the Hartford area in the near future, I have no reason to complain. read more

Walked into GW to find a pair of kakhi pants for a friend of mine (homeless shelter) and unfortunately this was difficult because the tags were not prominently shown with the sizes, unless you looked inside the pants. So it took a little longer than usual. As I walked into the store, I noticed they upgraded the entrance and felt & sounded nice with some cool music playing. The store had many more customers in it than the previous year I was here. So, that show's me people are hurting financially and at GW you can really find some 2nd hand good deals on products. Tip**I also know for a fact that they receive deliveries on Wed & Fri mornings from Target, mostly men's pants!!!! New stuff!!!! Never worn) Nice store and staff! Thank you:_) read more

This is the best thrift store in this area, but I'm biased as I prefer ones with large bric-a-brac sections, household goods, and books. They are the thrift store of choice when the nearby Target has merchandise that didn't sell - so you see a lot of unused Target goods here too, which is great. They're open until 9pm and on Sundays, which is unique to most thrift stores, and much appreciated. read more

This Goodwill is incredibly clean, organized and the customer service far exceeded my expectations. The front cashier welcomed everyone as they walked in. Its the small things sometimes! All of the clothes are organized by type, color, size and easy to view. Even the aisles appear wider then most department stores! I saw so many name brands and the clothes were all in very good condition. The only thing that completely skeeved me out were all the bathing suits. I am a very big fan of this Goodwill location. I have been to the Salvation Army in Manchester as well and really don't like it. It is dirty and seems unorganized. The Goodwill though is very clean. Its pretty huge but very well organized. They don't seem to get a lot of name brand merchandise, however the ones in Rocky Hill and Glastonbury seem to be filled with them. read more

I don't really know what it is about this Goodwill! It's not the biggest store in the world, but for me, they have great stuff. It's all interesting and unique to the location and they have tons of different brands. It's well organized (by size and color). It's also really nice because they have a great selection of smalls (which is sometimes hard to find)! The workers are so nice and the place is super organized! Love it! :) read more

went to this goodwill last week. I was impressed with the name brand racks at the front of the store, but not with those prices. They were somewhere between consignment store and goodwill prices, but not good enough for me! They did have a large clothes section, and a great belt/handbag section. I also found a great pair of knee high boots! In bins near the check out, they had just received brand new women's tights from target, and I scored 2 pairs @ 50 cents each!!! I've been to a lot of thrift stores, and this is one of the best ones I've seen! I am a big bargain shopper when it comes to clothes, and I almost always find something here. There is one worker who is beyond rude- he is in a wheelchair which yes I feel awful about but he literally tries to run people over and has zero manners. He has zero boundaries with personal space and will tell you to move so he can stock shelves exactly where you are looking. He was also recently spending time in the aisles with an apparent friend or family discussing his personal life while again taking up the entire aisle. He is the sole reason I can no longer go there- he is very entitled, rude, and unprofessional and has literally pushed me with his chair because I wasn't fast enough to get out of his way. read more

Goodwill is my least favorite thrift store in the area. It's not necessarily a bad place... just doesn't work for me. Their target audience is clearly much older than me. I have been shopping in this store for years, and most times I swear I'm not coming back. But I do, they get some good stuff. But yesterday, I wanted to purchase a watch. No price. Salesgirl left me to ask manager and came back and said $4. I said OK. Went to check out, register girl says "no price, have to ask manager". I said that the girl next to her already did. So anyway asks manager again and she says $15! What? You already said $4, then changed your mind? The girl who told me $4 confirmed right to the manager that this in fact was true, I did not make it up. Manager, (young woman with attitude, named Clarice), smirks and laughs at me and says "I'm the manager, and that's the price". So done with this overpriced, and unfriendly place. Done!!! read more

OK, I admit because I work at the Rocky Hill Goodwill, I am prejudice. BUT, all Goodwills are a great place to shop. They all have hard working folks and you never know what treasure you might find. And people with various physical challenges are given the oppurtunity for a better life, because of your purchases. read more

This is a clean and clearly popular Goodwill however I found the prices to be a little too high for my taste, especially for a so-called "thrift" shop. Also, the selection seemed a bit too picked through, for the amount of donations they must receive in their convenient drive through, most of the items were pretty low-end, even for a Goodwill. While the place is cleaner and better maintained than, say, Salvation Army, the prices and the lack of quality items leaves me a little underwhelmed. read more
