I always take a look at the men's shirts first. I was very surprised to see them tagged at $12 here, which is substantially more than I customarily see at the Simsbury store, where I've picked up quite a few similar long sleeve Oxford shirts for $5. Otherwise, the store is very neat and organized and has the usual accompaniment of clothing, footwear, accessories, household goods, books, etc. I'm definitely a fan of thrift and second hand stores, and even though I was looking for a long sleeve white shirt, I walked out empty-handed today.

I had so much stuff that I had to bring it all up to the counter so that I could keep my hands free for further hunting around (unusual for me when I do any antique shopping - I usually only find 1 or 2 items at most). The man working at the counter was friendly and helpful. My friend and I appreciated that he seemed to enjoy his job - that made our shopping experience even better. I also think that someone who set things up outside has a wonderful sense of humor, because there was a doll sitting in a chair looking into a mirror. You know I had to get a picture of it!

Everything was curated by the owner (also very nice). The items were great and they have good taste! Prices were pretty affordable too. Either way, the shop is filled to the brim with trinkets--mostly costume jewelry. I found it a bit overwhelming at first, but kudos to Patti for keeping everything meticulously organized. You could easily spend hours here and still not see it all. Just keep in mind that it's heavy on costume jewelry and lighter on true antiques.

This store primarily sells rugs, they are beautiful rugs, they come in a variety of patterns and sizes. They are hung on walls and stacked on the floor. I couldn't help but wonder if I were to purchase a rug wouldn't I also be purchasing the odor that comes with it? The rugs are thick and made of wool, it's a process to wash them. They also sell some beautiful framed artwork. There was more downstairs, I just couldn't stay due to the smell. This store has a lot of potential, they should do something about the mold.

The Salmon Brook Shops is a store of a large collection of antiques in Granby. I stopped by on…read moreTuesday afternoon. This is a must visit for anyone who appreciates antiques. There's so much of everything in here. There's furniture, books, toys, fine china, jewelry, paintings, tools, etc... I was a bit nervous walking around, you have to be really careful not to knock anything over, as I'm sure it would cause a domino effect. There's so many delicate little things piled on each other, the tiniest swing of an arm could cost you a big embarrassment of a situation. My favorite are the paintings. The fine China they have is also beautiful and in excellent shape. There was an all wood rocking horse, that you could tell was well loved, but still has more love to give. There was only one other lady there browsing while I was there. It can't be good having too many people at the same time in such a tight space, with fragile items everywhere.
