"Manager" Glenda doesn't think this is proof the transaction went through.

Rarely ever leave Yelp Reviews but my visit on 10/11/25 absolutely warrants it. The Manager Glenda and the employee with the tan skin, jet black hair and combover are very rude, unskilled employees. My review is based off experience with Glenda and the other unnamed employee. For background, I have donated to this location and spent thousands of dollars here. I know most of the employees and engage in conversation when I come in. The male mentioned earlier took my payment via Apple Pay. I saw an approved notice pop up. Following that, he says a receipt didn't print and I have to pay again. I refused, showing him the payment having gone through on my bank account. He continues to argue with me and then Glenda steps in. I show her the charge on my Apple Pay and let her look at my transaction history, in which she STILL believes the transaction never went through since a receipt didn't print. I asked her for my merchandise and she refused to release it to me. I was shopping with my Dad nearby and had him come in to see if another person explaining would get my PAID MERCHANDISE released. This time, I called my bank and put Glenda on the phone with my bank who told her the charge DID GO THROUGH. Glenda got loud with all of us. At one point, she got aggressive waving her hands in our faces and ordering my Dad not to talk. Maybe she thinks she is a Judge? We told her what she is doing is fraudulent and she just says "ok". I truly think she must have some sort of incapacity. If the customer, the receipt, and the bank's confirmation are not enough to believe the customer paid for the items, something is very wrong. Side note: On prior trips to the store, I've witnessed her raising her voice at other employees in the back room. They leave the door to that room partially open during store hours. Clearly, professionalism is not in her nature. I am still waiting for my money back or the release of my paid merchandise. In the meantime, highly recommend supporting Bloom in San Rafael and sending donations to a place where staff are kind and your items will help style those entering new careers.

This is a pretty good store - Sometimes, great deals. Prices are very reasonable and the music rocks.

I started going back a few months ago, and I'm really happy to say that I've noticed a big difference! The store feels much more organized, and the team working there is always so nice, friendly, and welcoming. You can tell they really care about keeping the store as tidy as possible. I see them constantly putting things back, picking items up, and trying to keep everything in order. They really do their best, and I appreciate that. I do wish upper management would do a little more to address customers leaving things all over the place. I see items thrown on the floor or left in completely different areas all the time, and it must be frustrating for the employees to constantly have to clean up after people. It would be nice to see some rules or reminders encouraging customers to be more respectful of the store and the people working there. I also feel for the employees because the store has been incredibly hot during my recent visits. I'm not sure if the air conditioning is broken or just not working well, but it must be difficult to work in that heat all day. Despite that, the staff continues to be friendly and helpful, which says a lot about them. Overall, I really appreciate the changes I've seen over the past few months. Izzy and her team deserve a lot of credit for the effort they put in every day. I enjoy stopping in to look around, and I hope upper management continues to support this team and give them the resources they need to keep making the store a pleasant place to shop.

Yesterday, I was passing the Salvation Army in San Rafael and I decided to go in just to look at records. It was the most revolting time I've ever had anywhere. Even the "dump" store in Petaluma is far cleaner. This was a Wednesday afternoon, not a weekend after a hurricane from a mobscene of shoppers. I'm not sure I EVER want to go into that store again and risk buying something that has spent an unknown amount of time on the floor. Also, I won't be bringing donations to them either because they already have more going on than they can handle.

Next, one of our boxes accidentally had paint on them, he gets it on himself, and he throws a hissy fit. He's like "I WON'T TAKE THESE THINGS" being impolite, not telling us the reason why, and shoving the items back. Mind you, the paint didn't get on the cups and plates we were donating. He then proceeded to barely look in the rest of our boxes, and also says "I won't take any of this." This guy needs to remember that he's not working at some high-end designer store. This store is meant for people who can't afford new items and want to purchase affordable, secondhand goods. Donations should be accepted unless there's an actual problem with them, and there wasn't one here. We had old items that could've gone to a new home like plates, cups, and clothes.

The employee that covered it up used two price stickers, as the chip was too big to cover with just one. Very disappointing and highly unprofessional. Ironically, we had asked one of the long-time employees at the register if they still take donations of used items (as we saw the store had a lot of brand new items this time around), and she said in a condescending tone, "Well, yeah, but not if it's damaged or stained." Evidently, damaged donations that can be covered with a price sticker must be ok.

There are also very few plus size clothes for sale - not sure if they aren't donated much, or just go fast, but I rarely find anything good that will fit (I visit fairly often because my pharmacy is in this shopping center and I can't resist). They recently started a rewards program with your phone number and I signed up, but the guy didn't ask for it next time I was there (I just bought a picture frame) and when I asked about it before paying, told me it was too late. Lame. Donating: They have great hours and it's easy to pull in and donate. When I went yesterday though, they wouldn't take a (fairly large) ottoman I had to donate, saying they didn't have room. They do sell furniture but I guess had an over abundance and recommended I take it to the SF location instead. No bad smells and it's clean, so that's nice! And well lit. I am sure I will keep going since it's near my pharmacy but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
