CD's are $1.99. Great to find a Tom Petty classic in the mix! When I went, service was professional. Donations are in the back, behind Taco Bell. There is a truck where a Goodwill employee can help unload donations. Very easy and efficient- much friendlier than the drop off at San Rafael's Salvation Army. read more

Just had the best experience dropping off some donations! I unfortunately didn't get his name but he had beautiful body art and he was amazing! Right when I pulled up he asked he could help with my donation but I was fine it was just a couple of things. Anyway first time dropping off to this location and I couldn't of been more pleased. I will make sure to get his name to update for next time. He did mention that people sometimes scream at him when he goes right up to their vehicle to ask for help. I was like what?!? LISTEN PEOPLE BE NICE! It's a simple thing, don't be an asshole for no reason! Anyway looking forward to going back when I have more stuff. read more

I find inexpensive treasures every time I visit...which is 1-2 times a month. Employees are courteous. Large selection of clothing for adults (less for youth). Good tag sales. Well organized. My only minor quibble is the corporate muzak - songs are not always appropriate for younger ears...or are grating to my old ones. read more

I love to give my things to Goodwill knowing they sell them close to nothing for those in need. Unfortunately, they've closed down for who knows how long. We need more Goodwill and Salvation Army donation or any place that accepts donations. With so many people loosing their jobs, this service is needed more than ever. Today when I accidentally handed over three $20 bills instead of two for my purchases, Andrew (who was ringing me up) instantly pointed it out to me and gave me back the extra $20 bill. The prices here are ever so slightly higher than at other Goodwills BUT the merchandise is better, and overall I think the higher prices are justified. I don't come here very often because I live in the City, and with the price of gas, and the Golden Gate Bridge toll, that significantly adds to the cost of the trip. But if I'm heading to Berkeley for some reason, early enough in the day, sometimes I'll treat myself and come home around the Bay via Richmond and San Rafael. And when I do, I'll hit three stores in Marin: the Goodwill in Novato, the Goodwill in San Rafael, and the Salvation Army in San Rafael. Of the three stores, this one is the smallest but it definitely has the best merchandise. It's about 80% clothing and shoes, but most of it is good quality, and I never leave empty-handed. When I first started coming here, they exclusively played 70's funk and 50's motown, and I couldn't resist bopping along to the beat the second I walked in the door. Lately the music hasn't been as good! This is in a little strip mall, with plenty of parking. Oh, and like all the other Goodwills in Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties lately, if you buy five items, the cheapest one is free. AND, they will let you break up your purchases if you have more than five. So, buy your five most expensive items in one purchase, then the next five most expensive, etc. and you will get more of a discount. This is in addition to the usual "color of the week" half off discount on clothing. read more

I love to shop at this store. I usually find great stuff at reasonable prices. Today I'm completely turned off! I went in to find a nice, inexpensive leather handbag (from this location, I've purchased a couple of Coach bags, numerous quality leather purses all made in either Spain, Argentina or Italy... never paying more than $6.99 for one). Today I found a great looking handbag that was made in Italy marked $3.99. When I went to the checkout the lady rang me up, stalled, looked at the bag and proceeded to state that it's a nice handbag. I agreed. Then she said that it's marked too low, excused herself and walked over to two other workers, having them inspect the bag as well. She finally came back and told me the price isn't $3.99 that it's $8.99. Really?! How can they do that? The product was clearly priced at one price until she didn't agree with it. In all honesty, if the bag had originally been priced at the $8.99, I would have thought it a fair price BUT on principle, I left the bag at the thrift store! How can they just randomly change the price on you at the register?! And too, isn't that illegal? I know for a fact that it is in a regular store... just not sure how it works in a thrift store. Should be the same. I don't think that I will be back to this location after this experience. read more

I went there to drop donations off. There were two guys just sitting around behind a closed truck. I was told to come back in 45 minutes because they were changing truck. Huh?! I get the changing truck part, but why couldn't you take the boxes of donation, pile them up on the side and load it up in the new truck when it comes? Too complicated for them. Inside of the store was very clean, easy to find parking, and the guys taking donations were very helpful. Only took a star off because there just wasn't a huge selection of things. Worth a visit though if you aren't looking for something specific. read more

Don't recommend this place to do any shopping, even if it's because you're trying to be an up-cycler. The prices are often more expensive for used goods here than new (saw a used. as-is Christmas tree star for 8 bucks and the ones at Target are 6 or 7 with a guarantee they work!). They also don't have much of a selection outside of clothing--and even that's limited to some pretty gaudy numbers. It feels like this location gets the bottom of the barrel items, often torn or ripped. Makes me wonder where all my donations go that are truly gently used. Now the employees are nice, so nothing against them, but this place makes me want to walk next door to La Pinata and have a tequila shot to brighten my day. I'd recommend the yearly Saint Anthony's Rummage instead of this place if you want good finds, great prices, and more variety. read more

I love coming here for random things, like a replacement butter dish or for random art projects, costume parties, etc... I hate to bad mouth such a great program but... I have to say that over the years they have really inflated their prices. The pro is that the funds go to job training and assisting low income individuals, the con is that they would probably get more $$ in the end if they didn't charge so much for some items. I mean seriously, this stuff is donated! I have passed up many a purchase after scoffing at the ridiculous price tag of some random used item. I have literally seen things for sale here that are less expensive brand new in a big box store (i.e. pack of 3 tennis balls for $3 at Goodwill, pack of 4 tennis balls at Sports Authority $2.69, you do the math.) read more

I was traumatized by the stench inside. It was easy to find. Parking is great. However, the unrecognizable stench was unbearable. Not too much to look at. I must say everything was organized. The ladies shoe section was sad. The selection of clothes was horrible. read more

This store is a grab bag of everything. Half the time you can get amazing deals and yet you can also see some items be exactly the same but one will be a few dollars more. Not consistent. The Associates are the same. Many of them are the same, hot and or cold. The music is even a mix bag. Sometimes you will get R&B, sometimes 80's and sometimes oldies. You really have to search for the bargains, but they are there. read more

My family and I have been donating to Goodwill for many years. In fact, I make a point to donate on a regular basis so that we do not contribute to land fill and waste, and we supoort the mission of Goodwill. However, my recent experiences with the people collecting donations at the 7th Street Novato location have been so negative - and downright caustic - that I will not be returning. I attempted to donate a car full of items 3x in the last week, and was turned away each time because the collection truck was full. Fine. I was told to come back at a specfic times, only to be turned away again. Today, I went again and it was awful. I smiled and said hello to the man collecting donations; he said nothing and glared at me. I opened the back of my car and he yelled, "What is that?" I responded that the item he was probably looking at is a bookcasr. His response was a diatribe about how he doesnt have room for furniture, can't I see that the truck is full, and he has a hard enough job without people dropping off items for which they do not have space. I commented that I had already been turned away twice in the last week and I was at a loss about how to make my donation. He went off on me! He said if I want to donate so badly I could drive to San Rafael, and that it takes about six minutes for more donations to be made before is overwhelmed. Terrible experience at the donation drop-off trailer. The attendant was closing the door when we arrived but said he would be back in two minutes. We unloaded our boxed donations while we were waiting. When the attendant came back, he was furious that we had not waited to unload. He accused us of being dumpers and told us never to come back! read more

I am a goodwill shopper, I have been to goodwill and thrift stores all over the states... this is one of my favorites in California. The pricing was not to bad and they were very organized, which is important to me. Good quality second had things. Had a great time in here.. will go back next time I am in the area. read more
