What I like about the "Goodwill" is the fact that sometimes you actually find some treasures. I won't quote the saying that has the wrord "Trash" in it because I never go into a "Goodwill" location looking for things I don't want. You really can find something in here that you really like if that is the mindset you go into a "Goodwill" location looking for that. So as far as this "Pittsburg" location goes, I have to say, I've been in here a few times and I've hardly ever gone inside and left empty handed. With this location being only a hop, skip and a jump from me. I can't help but to stop inside when I'm in the area. Allow me to tell you why.. August 17, 2017 Location: Goodwill Pittsburg, Ca People: 1 Adult Story: So always on the hunt for a deal, I made my way inside and being a person that loves button down shirts and dvd's I always go inside with an open mind hoping that I come out with a deal on something that I may have not seen in a while or a great come up that I know I nine times out of ten I won't find in your general retail stores anymore. Service/Hospitality: The service is not consistent, I've had a different experience most of the time, but as far as this most recent visit goes, I did sit at a cash register waiting for about 5 min or so for someone to come ring me up. The sad part of it all they were all in the back of the store also the donation area talking and laughing it up while I sat at the front of the store ringing a bell for service....yea. I did get help eventually though and she seemed very reluctant, but she quickly did what she had to do and then proceeded to go and hang back out and laugh and talk and gossip. All in all I got what I wanted and this review is based off that time so the service wasn't all there, at least I got told thank you for stopping in. Items/Cleanliness: If you're familiar with "Goodwill" they have days where they have a sale or they do the whole color coded thing with clothing and select items in where a huge discount is available. On this visit I picked up 2 button down shirts. One at $4.00 on a green tag special and the other at $5.00 on a gray tag special and I also found a copy of MTV's hit show "Laguna Beach" the first season on dvd at $2.99. I have to say that I was pretty happy with my purchases. Just a little over $12 dollars for things I really wanted, I have to say that I came out on top here. As far as the cleanliness of this store....it could be much better. Things at this location always are out of place for the most part and some attention to detail is defiantly needed here. Tidy isn't the word I would use to describe this place, but at least finding what I want is the best part of the experience. Overall: This "Goodwill" location is very close to where I live and like most people, I like a good deal. Compared to some of my fellow "Yelpers" and reading a few of their reviews, I don't think they're overpriced as some have mentioned. I do agree with some of what they have to say though. I can see myself dropping by on occasions because you never know what they'll have. That's the overall beauty of the "Goodwill" and the fact that your purchases actually do make a difference in society as money spent is donated to various charities and social organizations. That fact right there makes me overlook some of the shortcomings that myself and others have experienced. read more

I went twice in early afternoon to drop donations and the donations door was closed. I did not leave my vehicle, as another patron who arrived ahead of me knocked on the door and turned to leave and indicated that there wa no one there. My second attempt was the following day and again the door was locked. This time I knocked. I returned home again and unloaded my vehicle again and attempted to reach the store by phone and no one answered. I did not drive around to the retail shop so I cannot speak to that. This was frustrating at best. I'm going to find another avenue for donations. read more

Things have gotten a lot cleaner and more organized, but at the expense of damn near empty shelves (non clothing items). My parents call shopping at Goodwill stores "antiquing" and I agreed to go with them yesterday. Not only did I find brand new Pier One in the box umbrella decorations, vases and plates I found a beautiful brand new "Lolita"hand painted and crystaled "Queen" stemware wine glass for ONE DOLLAR. this is a nice, clean Goodwill thrift store, and the cashier was very sweet. But the only time I will actually purchase anything from any Goodwill is when they are having a 50% off sale (usually about once a month on clothing). Sometimes they will also include shoes and accessories like handbags and belts, but I was told that they never discount housewares. I get frustrated with the Goodwill Industry regarding their pricing policy. I do believe the money goes to a good cause, but there is no way I will buy a used pair of jeans for $22, regardless of what the label says! Even $11 is stretching it. They would get a lot more of my money, a lot more often, if they priced more reasonably. read more

Ok, so let me get this straight. You get everything donated for free, so everything is profit minus some overhead, but your prices are more than stores with new items.... umm, why? WHY would I spend $10 on a used tank top when I can go to so many other stores in the area and get brand new stuff for less than half the price? WHY are the shelves packed with tons of crap you can't sell? Oh, right. Good ole corporate greed. Why don't you LOWER the prices per unit so you can move more stuff and not have a million boxes of stuff waiting to go on the shelves? The store is good if you're looking for non-clothing items but I just can't see why anyone would do serious clothes shopping here unless it's maybe for shoes or a specialty item. read more

I am sickened with this goodwill and how they treated my beautiful mother, they treated her like trash and talked to her with such disrespect, she is disabled and was talked to so disrespectful after finding out she asked to use the restroom an employee banged at the door and said she was going to call the police if my mother did not exit the bathroom, said she didn't care if she was disabled and on meds, and kept telling her "Your Excused, your excused" Im so mad to the boiling point right now, these woman make me sick to my stomach, then the lazy movers helped my mom by taking the couch to her car then said they are not helping her put the couch into the truck "Cause of liability" I swear to god him self I wish I would have been there, this is disgusting a bunch of Unprofessional employees making this business look bad, we will be contacting David every day until this issue is resolved we will be talking to a lawyer and the better business bureau read more

Neat and well organized, but at these prices, you might as well go to WalMart. Frankly, I've seen used tee shirts for sale here that cost more than the same makers' new prices at WalMart. Goodwill industries is a worthwhile charity, but they've turned into a corporation with a huge overhead that makes shopping here not much of a bargain. By the time you factor in the time you spend looking for something that fits you might as well just give up and go to a regular store during a sale. Housewares are also hit and miss. Many items have the look of the end of the yard sale clearance at pretty high prices. Goodwill used to be a fun adventure where you could find interesting items at reasonable prices, but now I rarely bother, except for the odd half price sales on clothing, and even then, it's not cheap. read more

Overpriced thrift store but sometimes I find good quality items at a good price. The employees are friendly and helpful. I love thrift shopping but this location would be my last stop because of its pricing and random non-thrift items everywhere. I wouldn't recommend dropping your used items off if you want it to go to a good cause because of pricing. read more

Couldn't find what I was looking for. Or should I say a working version of what I wanted. I've been searching for a sewing machine for some household projects. I was under the impression that, while goodwill does carry used and or unwanted items. I assumed that the items would be in working condition. In this case however, out of 3 sewing machines I found all were incomplete. None of them worked or were missing essential parts for the machine to work. I ended up buying a new machine on Amazon. I didn't want to but I felt like It was the best choice. read more

This thrift store does not know how to be a professional business the manager is rude and foams at the mouth, the employees argue with the customers I shop at this goodwill a couple of times anytime I was there 1 of the employees was selling narcotics at the register when I spoke to the manager about what I have seen she pretty much called me a liar and said the employees in question does not have the personality of a dealer I do not recommend this thrift store read more

this goodwill has some very good stuff. just like the other goodwills in the area everything is priced by category anywhere from 1.50-$15, totally recommend going on half off days. employees are pretty hands off and mainly hang around the checkout and scan quickly. i mainly shop for clothing at goodwill and this shop is one of the better ones i've been to. incredibly neat and color coordinated, wide open aisles, and a very relaxed atmosphere. the home stuff here isn't too crazy so i'd recommend going to other locations for anything outside of clothes, my only complaint is that i wish they had carts :/ read more

This rating is for the staff who was simply nice and just very helpful. This summer I was helping somebody move and had a car full of toys, clothes and just about everything else to donate. The staff present allowed me to donate everything despite the drop off site being closed. The person helping us even assist with moving out of things from the car and into the store. That was fine, but I was treated like I was insulting them by donating the thing if they were not up to their standards. I typically shop here usually the staff here is very attentive but this time there was a problem with management I believe her name was Ester, I noticed another customer having an issue requiring managements attention , When the employee went back to ask for the manger as requested by the other customer, She proceeded to Yell at him where I and other costumers could here I was completely taken back I felt terrible for the guy I couldn't believe my ears how can a manger disrespect her employee's like that in front of costumers like that her exact word were (very disrespectfully I might add) "What would you do if I weren't here" I am a manger in sales myself and I felt that it was her job to address the issue not put it off on her employee I mean after all the customer requested to speak with her it wasn't like he just didn't want to do his job . For this reason unfortunately I will no longer shop here I refuse to give my hard earned cash to a business who allows this type of behavior by a member of their management team . She had no shame either she made the poor guy feel so out of place I thought he was goin to cry . If this is the behavior displayed in front of costumers I would hate to see her behaver towards employees' behind the scenes .. The sad part is I love this store I regularly bargain hunt here most of the employees are great but one bad apple can spoil it for the whole bunch they say .
