As I have mentioned in some of my other reviews, my son is all up in the squishy craze. Because we live so close we will check here on Saturday mornings. Although we typically don't have any luck here. Apparently we have been doing this all wrong and people can track where the squishes are. When we got here people were just waiting for them to open the boxes and would dive for them once they were opened. It was madness. There is a limit per person which is where it got a little weird for me. There was a woman a check out that was being super strict. She refused to count my son as a person, which he is always counted as a person at Tiger Tree and every where else that has limits. But also I didn't appreciate the comments of "you people are crazy,"as yes there are scalpers and things were getting a bit nuts but we don't do any of those things. We have been getting up early every Saturday morning for months since I work during the week, but since most stores stock during weekdays, we often leave empty handed. They had a great selection for literally the first time ever that we have been there and it just seemed strange to over enforce rules just because you can. The manager overheard some of us talking about her outside and let my son get the hotdog squishy he wanted, Cashier on a power trip aside, we generally have great experiences here.

We took him to see Santa yesterday and they had a particularly adorable set up and he got a golden ticket to head to the chocolatier shop for a free hot chocolate after and they also had a picture station that looked like he was on the Polar Express. We actually did that a different day because we come here a lot. It's one of his favorite places to go when it's cold. I typically shop online for myself, but there are a great selection of stores, nice food court, and staff are always friendly.

At the Polaris, that is…read more Pretty typical Penney location at the Polaris Mall, and it's big and sometimes pricey, but when you come during a sale or find one of those special deals then it's not bad at all. As a woman of color, I encourage other people of color to be aware of this location and to shop with caution. I'm very thankful for the random stranger that brought those hateful remarks to my attention. Today I visited the Polaris location with my two children. While waiting to check out, another customer rudely stepped in front of us in line. Instead of creating a scene, I chose to leave that line and use the children's checkout since I was mainly purchasing clothes for my kids. I appreciated that the next associate that helped us was very kind and attentive. However, while I was actively checking out, another customer that was shopping, approached me in front of the cashier and stated the other associate from the first counter believed I was stealing and that I "must not have wanted to wait and pay" for my items. I was completely shocked and humiliated by this accusation, especially because it was made within earshot of my two young children. There was absolutely no reason for Maxine to make this accusation when there's other counters to check-out at. My family's nice shopping trip turned to an experience filled with hate and unfortunately my young children had to witness this and we'll have to have a serious talk about shopping while black. After completing my purchase of over $500, I spoke briefly with a manager to report what had occurred. I have also contacted corporate because I believe this incident deserves further attention. I sincerely hope this matter is addressed with Maxine so that no other customer or family has to experience the same humiliation. This was an extremely disappointing end to what was supposed to be a pleasant Friday afternoon with my children.
