I was visiting from out of town and decided to check this Goodwill location out on a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot is moderately sized but the storefront and inside are kind of run down. No public bathroom and no fitting rooms available for customers unfortunately. There are shopping carts available. Each item is individually priced/tagged and they don't offer any special discount days except Senior discount Wednesday (not sure what the discount is). It looks small on the inside but I was pleasantly surprised at my finds! I got 5 pairs of jeans/pants and 2 dresses for $60 (avg $8.50/item). I did come across some overpriced items but that's part of the thrill of the hunt, to find unassuming items at a great price! I appreciated that the racks weren't overcrowded with items, I could easily flip through the hangers. I did not encounter any employees on the sales floor but when I was checking out my cashier Janay was kind and efficient. If you enjoy thrifting I would definitely recommend this spot! read more

I think they have a lot, especially clothes, but I went in shortly after Christmas (with grandkids) and didn't have much time. Line was long which very well may indicate what is offered positively. I am from out of town, but family lives in the area so I will visit again. I enjoy thrifting! read more

I was really impressed by the selection here, I found a lot of cool stuff for extremely reasonable prices. Armelle at checkout was so sweet and lovely to talk to. I found some great clothes and cds! My only complaint was there was NO sizing. All the sizes are mixed together so it was really difficult to shop the racks. It took a lot longer than it normally would to browse. read more

I will start off by echoing previous reviewers: the service by staff is great, this is NOT a superstore, selection is subpar when you factor in price point, BUT they have great up-to-date brand new books. A shopper in the aisle with me had a cart full of new, perfect condition books you'd find curated at the front of any Barnes & Noble. I found a handful of good ones myself (she took all the best ones). Now to revisit price point - I don't live in Maryland. I'm from the Bay Area in CA which has been the most expensive area to live in the US for the last 5 years. The prices at this little "superstore" Goodwill are ridiculous in comparison to even the best Goodwills I've visited in Silicon Valley, to the Oakland Hills, to even Pacifica. Talbots dresses for $20, ok-condition middle of the mall boots for $45, a Target tee shirt minimum is $5.75. Hell, I saw very used Walmart sweats for $10. I've found a pair of Rick Owen's pants for $7 and an Issey Miyaki blouse for $12 in Oakland so let's BE FOREAL Annapolis. know rent for this commercial space cannot possibly be that expensive. Be VERY foreal. Who is allowing yall to get away with this? Otherwise, the store is rather organized and abundant in both gently used and brand new items. It is sufficiently staffed. I was in the area and decided to stop by with high hopes. First, because it was called a superstore, so that set an expectation second, because of its geographic proximity to Annapolis, so I was expecting a good bit of higher and items. Irate, thrift stores on sent, size, selection, organization, and price. This gets a four-star percent. I wasn't hit with the thrift store smell as soon as I walked into the door. Because it's self a super store, which made me think it was going to be large, but this is a medium sized store. Not quite sure what is super about it. It gets 2 to 3 stars on selection. The housewares section was slim pickings. As was books, electronics, and furniture. The clothing area gets 3 to 3.5 stars. Poorly organized the sizes were mixed and I was able to find a few decent pieces pricing even for a small blouse was minimum $5.09. Lastly, I went in the late afternoon evening, and there was no lighting in the parking lot which made me feel very unsafe and uncomfortable. Overall, I wouldn't rush back to this location. I am amazed that Goodwill is still trying to compete with 2nd Ave. thrift, because those stores are always packed, well organized and great pricing . read more

Bottom Line: More of a dump than a scavenger hunt but the employees were friendly. I went to Goodwill Annapolis on a whim to see if I could find any puzzles. The store is fairly large but it felt very dirty and disorganized - even by charity shop standards. I was on a quest for puzzles and if there was a toy and game section it was entirely wiped out. After striking out on the puzzles I roamed the remainder of the store out of curiosity. I came across a $3 Pyrex flute pie plate that was in great condition so that was my deal of the day. I enjoy hunting for a good bargain but given the state of this store I don't plan on returning. The employees at checkout were cheerful so that was nice. read more

This Goodwill store has a unique selection of items. It does change every couple of days, and you never know what you'll find. I like vintage products because they are a better value over most new cheaply made items. The staff is helpful. There are a few drawbacks. I wish the store itself was cleaner, they restocked faster and had more men's accessories. read more

AVOID this store and choose another location. The DM here is off her rocker & the prices have continued to increased by leaps and out of bounds!! Items that would normally be reasonable & in line (with other charitable org.) have now turned into a personal subsidy, by way of price gouging by somebody who is grossly out of touch!!! Reminder: these items are *DONATED* they proceeds, of which to go to *charity* not your personal fund. As one who is a frequent advocate and philanthropist to maaaany charities, and involved in the non profit sector, this locations poor mismanagement! Apparently someone thinks this new iteration under their tutelage is reason to celebrate "my little pony" versus charitable Goodwill. This is not just a reflection of mine but 99% of the customers that frequent here. District manager or not - would be wise to take note of your customer base... And, learn some basic math, pricing & service. I've spent and donated easily thousands here. There's more "mess" then a little bit between the isles & in the back, a thorough cleaning of house is in order. Maybe someone on their Yatch in "corporate" will do a drive by and see for themselves, if they care; but by the run down looks and piss poor direction of this location-- they don't. I've donated quite a few things to this store. In fact, it's my preferred store in terms of donating stuff we no longer need or use. I've been inside and found the clothes to be highly overpriced. It is dingy and old inside. The guys who work the back are really helpful and always provide a donation receipt. I am giving kudos to the household items. I collect old pyrex and have scored numerous pyrex here in good condition and decent prices. I say 3 stars max. read more

After years of random donation refusals (sorry, we aren't taking clothes today!) I've begun to drop by this Annapolis location again. Today, I made a mistake. I dropped off a small box of books destined for somewhere else. In a hurry, I returned and spoke with the Manager - within an hour of the drop off - to see if she could help me retrieve them. I had more to donate with me. I offered to PAY for them to get them back. She could not have been any more disinterested. She refused every ask. Specifically, she stated that did not have "5 minutes" to help me. Really?? I get it - I work retail too - but my go-to approach is to try and help customers, not brush them off. Done. I'll be heading over to the nice folks at the Edgewater location instead. read more

I went here today for the first time to make some donations. There were multiple donation boxes, none labeled, and apparently you have to know where to put your donations. The guy there was not happy with me because I didn't know where to put books. He didn't offer a receipt, told me "No Christmas trees!" That was it. People are very friendly. But, I've been going to thrift stores all over the country and I've never been in a store that was so poorly merchandised. Some of the clothes are stuck in the rack so tight you can't even pull a hanger out. Don't even try to find clothes grouped by sizes. They just put different color tags on each item and you have to go looking. Maybe that sounds like I'm asking for much but I've been to Goodwill stores all over this country and many are amazing how they organize the apparel by size. Whoever does the pricing on the store doesn't get it! You make up the money by volume not by ripping off each individual customer! read more

I have been donating and shopping at this Goodwill for 30 years. Recently, over the last year, the stores have become so trashy and dirty. The manager is more interested in talking and cutting up than in managing the store. And, the prices have become outrageous for a charity center. That began to happen about 4 or 5 years ago when a new strategy was deployed by corporate. They seem to have forgotten the entire purpose of shopping at Goodwill and that these items are USED, therefore, should not be priced as much as NEW. read more

I shop here a lot since I live nearby. Goodwills used to be my least favorite thrifting destinations, but there aren't any other options nearby. If you come in often, you can find some treasures. Prices are all over the place, depending on who does the pricing. The people who work here are delightful, except for a current manager named China who is rude, rude, rude! I witnessed her saying to a customer who was paying and extending her cash, "Put it in my hand." Understandably, the customer left without completing the purchase. Drop off is to the left of the parking lot and in the back of the bldg (one way only). It's super easy, drive up and the guy is there to grab the stuff out of your hands. Please don't throw anything away- I saw the independent film "Waste Land" about the intimate lifestyle with the pickers who work at and in Brazil's largest landfill. There is no need to throw away stuff that someone else can use or even love. Be kind to our Earth. And dammit why pay full price when you can go to Goodwill, buy a 99 cent vase and a $15 or $20 bouquet of flowers from Costco. Add a gorgeous ribbon and whalah! Store a little messy, prices a little high, not a lot of quality stuff, but TONS of items and some cool old clothes, as with many thrift stores. I'm a thrift-a-holic and I visit thrift stores not only wherever I'm living at the moment but it's also a highlight of most trips I take. Heck, I spent a week in Buffalo last February (everyone's favorite winter destination, but believe it or not, not an inch of snow on the ground) and visited at least 4 thrifts stores, both chain and independent. That's to tell you I'm familiar with pricing and organization in both North and South. This Goodwill had a more extensive housewares section than most, and was just overflowing with clothes to the point it was hard to navigate men's pants, for example. As to prices, men's suits were on local target at approx. $15, but I thought sweaters were too expensive at a base price of $12. And Goodwill of the Chesapeake has given in to the temptation that so many Goodwills around the country have and began marking up "boutique" items which, in my opinion, is one of the things we consumers find most off-putting about Goodwill across the country. We the people donate nice stuff out of the goodness of our hearts to a charity that, broadly speaking, pays lips service to providing "jobs and training" but that seems to primarily mean employing people in their stores. Well hell, Walmart is the largest employer in the country and provides some basic training...maybe we should start donating our unused products there? But the biggest reason this bothers us is because a huge part of the thrill of thrifting is FINDING those bargains, those cashmere sweaters or Italian suits at normal thrift prices. What adds insult to injury though, is the seemingly random distribution of the mark-ups. As someone who, purely through being a veteran thrifter, can generally tell material by touch and often shops for suits by touch, I know my brands, and often the pricers at Goodwill don't. You can always count on brands they have heard of like Polo and Banana Republic being marked up (e.g., here Banana Republic sweaters were at least $15, and a women's Land's End trench coat was $25!). Even funnier is when you find a Jos. A. Bank suit (oooh, designer brand!) in the "boutique" section for $50 while right next to it there's a famous Italian brand that retails for $3000 sitting there at normal price - $15.00. To recap: this Goodwill is not the WORST offender by a long shot (in the area that's the Salvation Army on Kenilworth in PG County where I, no joke, saw an Old Navy Raincoat for $99!!! - but at least they have regular 50% off days) on pricing, and they do apparently have a discount Saturday on the last Saturday of the month, but it wasn't the best either. The further out you get from big cities the worse the brands get, and this is no exception. Still, there is plenty of good quality clothing for sale here. The other beef I had was that the store's clothing selection was poorly organized. They did make SOME attempt at organizing by size, but it's clear that unlike Goodwill of Greater Washington management is not encouraging them to go back through and KEEP that organization. Honestly the sizes were all mixed up. Granted, at least they DID size their clothes - there are many Salvation Army stores and mom-and-pops that just dump everything in there and that can just about ruin your shopping experience. BUT my advice is they change their tags. The way it is there's a tag on top of the color-coded size tag with "Goodwill" on it that makes to hard to go down the aisle and tell what size something is. My final bit of advice, if you will, is that this store may want to step up their clearance sales. I stopped in Goodwill in NE DC yesterday too and as usual they had a "tag color of the day" which was 50% off. My guess is that each week or so they change the color they tag items in, and so whichever color is coming up next is the one they discount so that they can clear out the oldest items. If that's the system it makes tons of sense, and thus you can navigate the clothing aisle easier. Bottom-line: This review was too long, but I like talking about thrift shops. This is a perfectly worthy thrift store to visit which had some decent quality items-about the same stuff you can find in the local Westfield mall. I will definitely return next time I'm in Annapolis. This store has a ton of potential if management can take a little more interest in the presentation of their clothing. read more

When is it ever okay for a Goodwill to mark up random items 200% just because they feel like it? I have never seen this anywhere else. I've certainly seen a 'boutique' section inside some Goodwills where certain items are hand picked to be marked up. But items here were randomly selected to cost $15-$20! That is absurd and not in line with what Goodwill stands for. It wasn't even that the items were rare or designer - Banana Republic and Ann Taylor were marked up? Seriously? It's as if someone went through the racks and marked up the popular designers they recognized. I saw much more obscure and upscale brands not marked up. To label anything that should be priced at Goodwill's normal $7 at $20 is pure greed and nothing else. I didn't even bother looking at housewares or furniture because the clothing prices turned me off enough to put down any of the items that were actually reasonable and walk out. read more

I've been donating and shopping at this Goodwill store for about 4 years. They have some great stuff! I'm a huge fan of finding holiday decorations from this place. They a huge selection of Christmas and Halloween decorations or all different kinds from tacky to classy. I usually stop in here before I go to Micheal's or any other craft stores. read more

The employees here are nice. Fitting rooms are big, but the doors have a big gap on the bottom and aren't very high so I always feel a bit exposed using them. This is the typical Goodwill experience. You have to be a vigilant shopper because although there are lots of nice items, there are plenty of overpriced cheap brands mixed in, and you need to check items for rips, tears, stains, etc. read more

This Goodwill location leaves a lot to be desired, but it is worth a periodic check in for the serious thrifter. They receive high marks for silver/silver plated items and shoes for variety and quality (you may need to polish the silver item) and clothing. Low marks for furniture and housewares. Aside from the occasional gem, the furniture department can be awful (if Target couldn't sell the cheap and chipped table, perhaps it's kindling and not something for the living room). It is not a place you can pop into and expect to go home with an armload of good stuff... it really is a lot of junk. And the children's section is abhorrent - disorganized and low quality for the most part. read more
